2005 Carignan Prima, Premières Côtes de Bordeaux (was $29.99)

SKU #1041488

90 points Wine Spectator: "Black currant and violet notes on the nose, with a good dose of slightly charred oak, follow through to a full body, with fine tannins and a long, vanilla-colored finish. There's lots of oak, but also lots of fruit. Needs time. This is very chewy. Best after 2011." (03/08)

Not very well known, but one for your cellar. Rich and round with fine structure.

This is a Modern-style, Merlot-based Bordeaux from the banks for the Garonne river facing the Graves. It has lots of ripe black fruit on the nose with toasty oak in the background. The palate is full of rich black fruit and more toasty oak (this wine see 100% new oak). If you are a fan of ripe California ripe fruit and wanting to try wines from Bordeaux, you should start here.
