2005 Tardieu Laurent "Cuvée Speciale" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Stunning, with a terrific range of fig sauce, blackberry confiture, blueberry and linzer torte flavors layered with spice, mesquite, fruit cake and sweet earth notes. The long finish is riveted by minerality. So lush and accessible that this may be burning the candle at both ends, but it does so beautifully. Drink now through 2023. 725 cases made.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The deep ruby/purple colored 2005 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Speciale reveals notes of tree bark, blackberry, kirsch, licorice, pepper, and roasted meats. It is full-bodied, tannic, has zesty acidity, and a gripping, muscular structure. This is a wine that needs to be forgotten for a good 6-8 years before consumption. (93+)

Ruby-red. Strikingly perfumed aromas of fresh raspberry, blood orange, lavender and minerals. Impressively complex on the palate, offering sweet red fruits, candied licorice and floral pastille flavors, with excellent finishing persistence. As tasty as this is today, I'd hold onto mine for a few more years, at least.
