92 points Wine Spectator and a "Smart Buys" designation: "Very aromatic, with blackberry, black cherry and licorice. Full-bodied, with firm, silky tannins and a long, beautiful finish. Gorgeous. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best after 2010." (07/08) K&L's notes - Located in the heart of Chianti, equidistant from Pisa, Florence and Siena, the Villa Pillo is a traditional, historical Tuscan Farm with a gorgeous Villa built by the Marchese Incontri in the 1700s. It was purchased by John and Kathe Dyson in 1989, who have worked hard to restore the site, planting 33 hectares of vines including Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. The Borgoforte is the winery's "Super-Tuscan" style wine, blending Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot."This is a very good bottle of wine, complex, rich, more internationally styled but seriously, rich, complex and full bodied. For this price this is an unbelievable bottle of wine. (Greg St.Clair, K&L Italian buyer)
