Château Beauregard is located northeast of the town of Libourne, in Pomerol, where merlot is king. Established back in the 11th century by the Maltese Knights, the site has long been known for its exceptional clay-gravel soils, which are planted mostly to merlot with the balance cabernet franc. A lovely wine from an incredible vintage--both for drinking and cellaring--Michael Broadbent rated this three stars in the early 1990s, saying it showed promise and we agree!
