93 points Wine Spectator: "Has a gorgeous mouthfeel, with a rich, velvety, mouthfilling texture that allows hoisin sauce, Turkish coffee, graphite and dark licorice notes to sail through the country: dense, Lengthy finish. Excellent Grip is well-embedded. Best from 2010 through 2030. 1,500 cases made." (04/08) 91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Dark red. Spicy strawberry and raspberry on the nose, with subtle garrigue, anise and dried floral scents adding interest. This is beautifully perfumed and sweet, with silky red fruit flavors and light, dusty tannins. Finishes with gentle grip and a strong echo of strawberry. An utterly classic rendition of Châteauneuf." (Jan/Feb '08) The 2005 Domaine La Barroche "Reserve" is a blend of Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah and Cinsault. The estate has been in the same family since the 14th century, and is composed of 12 hectares spread over 12 well-positioned plots throughout the appellation. Careful fruit selection, minimal intervention in the cellar, and no new oak ensure that wines from Domaine La Barroche exhibit gorgeous levels of purity, richness and elegance. 15% abv.
