2007 Franck Millet Sancerre Blanc

SKU #1040042

The wines of this family domaine have been a staple here at K&L since the 1994 vintage when Franck and Betty Millet drove from Sancerre to Bordeaux (a long way) to meet Clyde and crew to present the wines. The wines were great even in that tough vintage and the rest is history. We love these wines for their freshness, charm and affordability. Our best value Sancerre in the store. From soils of clay and chalk in the village of Bue near the Domaine. A wine of freshness, lift and snap, one that keeps you coming back for more, it is vinified entirely in stainless steel to preserve the wonderful citrus and slightly grassy aromatics and the gentle mineral finish.

Millet Sancerre has been a part of K&L since long before I started here, and I have always enjoyed their refreshing, tasty style. This latest vintage has all the Millet pleasure and snap that I have come to love, but the 2007 seems to have just that little bit more to offer. This vintage has depth, and some grapefruit zing that fans of Kiwi SB's will no doubt love. Perfect for summer- and the months we wish were!

This offers aromas of citrus with faint undertones of chalk that carry over quite nicely to an incredibly refreshing, clean palate impression. It finishes in a snappy style while showing just a hint of grassiness. Eby says this will be our other house white for the month

Additional Information:

Varietal:

Sauvignon Blanc

- Sauvignon Blanc 34 As the backbone of the delicious Loire Valley wines like Sancerre and Pouilly Fume, Sauvignon Blanc remains a very popular varietal, but is has not seen expansive new plantings in California like Chardonnay. The reality is that in most California viticultural areas, planting Merlot or Cabernet will return more money to the grower. However, there are still some excellent Sauvignon Blanc plots in the golden state, and we're happy that the great Sauvignon Blanc vineyards in California continue to produce this fantastic varietal. Sauvignon Blanc is also extremely popular in Bordeaux, where it is used alone or with Semillon to produce the fine dry and sweet wines in Graves and Sauternes. Here is a list of our bestselling Sauvignon Blanc.

France

To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Sub-Region:

Loire

- Of all of the French wine producing regions, the Loire might produces the greatest variety of wines. They range from still to sparkling, very dry and acidic to hearty sweet, and clear in color to a deep purple. The diversity of wine produced in this region is due in part to its dynamic climate, which ranges from Continental to Mediterranean. This region is best known for Sauvignon blanc, Chenin blanc and Cabernet Franc. The most famous areas in the Loire Valley may be Sancerre and Vouvray.
