94 points Robert Parker: "The ethereal 2005 Cabernet Franc (about 200 cases produced) displays hints of roasted herbs, truffles, cranberries, black cherries, and even blacker fruits. Its mid-weight, elegance, and purity are sublime, but the wine packs plenty of intensity, behaving like a big red, without being heavy or ponderous. Drink this 2005 over the next 7-8 years. " (12/08) Wolf Family Vineyards offers three estate grown wines in artisanal quantities hand made by Karen Culler in the small winery and cave on the estate. The Cabernet Franc vineyard was planted in the late 1970s and remains the last parcel from that era on the Wolf Family Estate in St. Helena. The vines erratically produce small berries and loose clusters leading to wonderfully concentrated flavors and texture. A treasured vineyard for the history it represents; it is the source of Wolf Family Vineyards' first wine produced in 1997. The vineyard produces precious little of a richly perfumed, lavishly textured, complex wine, that will make you wonder why more Napa estates don't release a Cabernet franc. 90 cases made.
