90 points Wine Spectator: "Has a pretty nose, with blackberry, flowers and licorice-tainted mineral. Full-bodied, with dense fruit, fine tannins and a long, minerally finish. Best after 2010." (03/08) 87-90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full ruby. Sexy dark fruits, leather, smoked meat and earth on the nose. Silky and suave in the mouth, with good chewy depth of fruit. Layered, sweet and interesting. Finishes with sweet tannins and very good length. An excellent showing for this Fronsac property owned by the family of ex-Mouton Rothschild winemaker Patrick Leon." (May/June 06) According to Robert Parker: "The former regisseur for Mouton Rothschild, Patrick Leon, owns this estate. His richly fruity, surprisingly soft 2005 Trois Croix possesses excellent concentration and overall balance. Enjoy it over the next 7-8 years." (04/08) K&L's Notes: This is Patrick Leon's gem from Fronsac. Soft on the entry with a well-balanced mid-palate full of currant and black plum fruit. Fine-grained tannins on the finish. A wonderful wine for short-term cellaring.
