2007 Elsa Torrontes Mendoza, Argentina

SKU #1036694

"A Best Buy" designation from Wine Enthusiast Magazine: "Neutral for the most part, but this light-framed white slips in pear, orange and spice notes while maintaining a nice, juicy profile. Nothing more than a refreshing, lime-infused dandy. But what’s wrong with that?" (5/1/2008) Torrontes is a wine of pleasing fruit intensity both in the nose and on the palate. Clean refreshing aromas with hints of spice, fruit, and honey that lead to similar flavors on the palate, with good natural acidity and a clean refreshing finish. This variety is blessed with the ability to develop these nice aromas and flavors at relatively low sugars which translates into better balance for a light- medium bodied white wine.

Looking for spring? Look no further - this delicious wine is absolutely springtime in a bottle. Very lightly spicy and floral, this amazing value white wine also shows juicy yellow fruits. Perfect with lighter fare or as an aperitif. Produced by Elsa, who you might recognize for their equally delicious, value-oriented Malbec.

Argentina

- Argentina is regarded as one of the most dynamic wine-producing nations in the world, and possibly the most important wine-producing region in South America. Only four countries in the world produce more wine than Argentina. Considerable investments (much of which has come from famous French, Italian and California wine producers) have been made in new vineyards and winemaking technology in the past several years, which along with recent plantings of more premium varieties of grapes, has made Argentina much more competitive internationally. The Mendoza region is the most important region in Argentina's wine industry. And Malbec, among other Bordeaux varietals grown here, reigns supreme.
