K&L had a lovely visit from George Grant, who tasted us on the Glenfarclas line-up. Everything was delicious but the 1974 Vintage was stunning! It consists of only three barrels with are fresh sherry, refill sherry and a plain neutral cask. The combination of these three barrels gives the 1974 impeccable balance. Your nose is filled with deep dried fruits of figs, prunes and raisins. Then come the citrus notes of fresh squeezed lemons. At 31 years of age this malt is very youthful and lively. The marriage of these three casks balances out the richness sherry and makes this one of the best Speyside malts I have tasted! If you have anyone who has a birthday or anniversary in 1974, this is the malt for you! (Susan Purnell, K & L Wine Merchants, Spirit Buyer) 57.4% ABV
