Pretty aromas of crushed raspberries, cherries and light wet earth. Full-bodied, with firm, silky tannins and a medium finish. Nice wine for the money. Always solid in a top vintage. Best after 2005. (7/ 2003)

This was my favorite of the three vintages. The nose is fragrant, with bright red fruit, spice and coffee. The tannins are still evident with plenty of red fruit on the palate, finishing with mineral and spice.

Wow! What a value. This was my favorite of the recently arrived Coufran vintages, but then I also prefer my Bordeaux with some age on it. The 2000 was very pretty, with aromas of graphite, smoke, spice, black raspberry and coffee. There was plenty of fleshy red fruit on the palate and, most importantly, good balancing acidity. It's drinkable now, but still has plenty of life to continue to cellar it.

One thing we hear all the time at K&L is that Bordeaux has become too expensive. While it is true that the 30 or so top names have taken their prices to the moon, it is unfair to say that the whole regions prices are too high. This 11 year old bottle from one of the great modern vintages is a fine example of extraordinary value in Bordeaux. It is polished, poised and very complete with loads of black fruit power, fine tannins and mineraly grip. It could be enjoyed tonight with a thick cut New York strip steak or laid down for another 10 years.

Pretty aromas of crushed raspberries, cherries and blackberries. Quite sweet on the palate thanks to the Merlot. This wine is still big and rich and would age well a few years. Enjoy now with prime rib roast.

Tasting good now at 11 years old, this still enjoys much of the youthful vigor derived from this great and powerful vintage. Stick a few away for another five to 10 years. Decant between two and four hours if you want to drink it now.

A dense, brooding, broad-shouldered wine packed with blackberry and cassis and a hint of licorice on the finish. Astonishing character at this price and a joy to drink.

Saturated ruby in the glass. Classic aged Bordeaux notes of mellowed herbs, currants, cedar, minerals & a touch of oak spice. A medium bodied, almost rich wine packed with red cherries, red currants & a nice spice note on the finish. Tannins are light but integrated & there is enough remaining acid that this should pair well with NY steak tonight.

Medium bodied mature bordeaux with lots of berry flavour.I would decant for 30 mins after which the wine truly opens up - very nice.
