(a blend of wines from 2002, 2003 and 2005) Bright gold with a strong bead. Highly perfumed bouquet displays pear, nectarine, honeysuckle and sweet butter, plus an undercurrent of spice, ginger and lemon pith adding energy. Fleshy pit fruit and soft citrus flavors provide very good palate coverage and offer pungent spice and candied floral qualities on the back end. Nervy minerality adds lift and cut to the long, gently smoky and subtly sweet finish, which leaves candied orange peel and floral notes behind. (12/ 2009)

This is the highly sought after ultra-luxury cuvee made by Cattier. It is packaged in a gold bottle with a pewter card-spade with an A on it instead of a label, giving rise to the nick-name "Ace of Spades". It is a favorite of many musicians as evidenced by its appearance in celebrity circles and music videos. Take your cue from Jay-Z and pop open a bottle of this bubbly, made exclusively from Premier and Grand Cru-rated villages in three different terroirs: Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne and Côte des Blancs. Las Vegas in a bottle. All the glitz, glamour, and class presented in a lacquered black box lined with velvet. A very impressive gift, and a delicious champagne with a healthy, but not over powering, dosage.

Not sure what the reviewer below is talking about - perhaps he got a bad bottle? I've had the chance to sample this wonderful Brut a few times now, and it has blown me away each time. Fantastic balance, lovely aromas of dried white flowers and a touch of brioche, and a defined mineral undercurrent running through it all. This is a subtle champagne with character to spare, and while the price might be high, it is unquestionably worth trying.

Tasted at K&L Wine Champagne Tasting. The kindest thing that I can say about this product is that is an unusual tasting champagne. It seems to have been designed to appeal to people who rarely drink champagne. There is virtually none of the yeast or minerals that you get with other champagnes. It is as if those elements have been masked so non-champagne drinkers won't be turned off. That being said, it's an "easy drinker." Since the flavors are not intense at all, it goes down like a Diet Sprite. This is definitely a wine to be swilled out of a slipper at a night club, rather than savored. There is more foaminess on the tongue than most champagnes. The initial taste is like a strawberry pie covered with whipped cream. However, after the first taste, it drops off a cliff. No mid palate or finish. Nothing, it's like a palate cleanser. When compared to the other great products at the terrific K&L event, this champagne was a different species. Actually, a better choice for "slippper swilling" is the Sofia Coppola Blanc de Blanc in the pink can. A little more flavor, same froth, a hipper package and a lot cheaper. Maybe the Coppolas should also make the can in black or silver for guys who don't feel cool drinking out of a pink can.
