SKU #1024920

Aglianico is one of Italy's most unusual, esoteric and definitly sexy varietals. Known to many as the Barolo of the South, Agliganico dates back to the Hellenic days. This is one of the oldest indigenous varietals found in the region of Campania and was thought to have been brought over by the Greeks and planted in seed form, the origins of the grape are unknown. This is the quintessential wine from Campania. Like its mysterious origin, the wine shows complexity sparking the interest of the drinker. Rich in body and texture, the wine evolves deeper and deeper in stages with every sip. Three sips tell the story. The first sip is full of white pepper and spice. The second sip shows deep, rich, ripe, black plum. Following with the third sip that glides through the palate with smooth mocha and cocoa leaving the partaker wanting to explore the wine more and more. This is a wine that sparks interest and thought and complements many dishes especially game and roast meats.
