Excellent balance along with copious quantities of sweet black cherry and cassis fruit are found in the 2001 Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux. Light to medium-bodied, with a style similar to its bigger sister, but neither the concentration nor length, it should be enjoyed over the next 7-8 years. (6/ 2004)
Bright medium ruby. Blackberry, licorice and a whiff of tobacco on the cool nose. Sweet and moderately dense, with currant and oak flavors. Not in the same class as the 2000 in terms of stuffing and grip. Finishes with slightly dusty tannins and good length. (6/ 2002)
Fresh and floral, with hints of berries and vanilla. Medium-bodied, with silky tannins and a fresh, fruity finish. Refined. (3/ 2004)
Almost as good as the 2000 for about half the price. Composed of 60% Cabernet, 35% Merlot, 2.5% Petit Verdot and Cab Franc. Sweet oak and refined red fruit aromas. Elegant wine that is very well balanced and sweet on the mid-palate. Ripe, round tannins. Clyde loves it for its delicacy. A winner and we recommend buying this. Jancis Robinson: "Lightish red. Quite evolved - nicely balanced in minor key. Margaux delicacy but no great ambition." (11/2007)
