2002 Weingut Pfaffl Grüner Veltliner "Goldjoch"
Are you tired of chardonnay but still crave the weight, texture and flavor complexity a good example from this varietal offers? The Pfaffl Grüner Veltliner Goldjoch is the wine for you! Two thirds of this wine undergoes barrel fermentation, which imparts an exotic tropical fruit, almond oil and spice aroma. The palate is rich, round, sexy and nougaty, with hints of ripe citrus fruits and pepper. The finish is long, lingering and full of juicy, lip-smacking, palate-cleansing acidity. The wonderful lift and structure in this wine keeps all the voluptuous, Rubenesque fruit from becoming heavy or ponderous.
