2001 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars "SLV" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
This is certainly a wine to lay down. It has a marvelous core of blackcurrant and cherry fruit, and the oak is sweet, but the grip hits mid-palate, and the tannins close everything down on the finish. Will marry well with a rich steak, but should age effortlessly for many years.
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
Saturated ruby-red. Cassis, mocha, earth and smoky oak on the nose. Moderately sweet, pliant flavors of dark berries, plum, sassafras and chocolate. Finishes with fairly sweet but slightly dry tannins and late notes of chocolate and dill.
Elegant and refined, with subtle currant, fresh earth, herb, and sage flavors and tight, earthy tannins...
