Lots of rich, creamy oak and a tasty core of ripe currant, plum and black cherry fruit combine to form this notably complex and concentrated young wine. Delicious from start to finish, with a long, fruity aftertaste and fine-grained tannins.

Connoisseurs Guide
**Two Stars** There are arguments to be made that this inviting young wine is a little too forward and too reliant on oak, but for all of its debt to sweet, creamy spice, it is solidly fruity at its heart and has the extract good Cabernet Sauvignon needs. It is quite ripe, fairly full in the mouth and surprisingly supple for such a young wine, yet it is anything but frontal or one to be gulped down in haste. We expect it to shine after only few years of age, but it has the kind of depth and genuine fruit substance to carry it for close to a decade.

Manages to feel both soft and tannic at the same time, which means it's fine now but should age for a few years. The blackcurrant and smoky oak flavors are harmonious, with sweet fruit lasting through a long finish.

K&L Notes
Like 2001, this new vintage was cool and lengthy in Napa Valley, allowing Caymus to harvest at full, perfect ripeness all the way to October 25th! This is a dark and rich Caymus, with concentrated berry/cocoa flavors and mature tannins. A lush, layered wine, this will drink well now, and for years to come.
