(a 50/50 blend of chardonnay and pinot noir, from Ambonnay; disgorged January, 2011): Light, bright gold. An intensely perfumed bouquet evokes pear, chamomile, smoky minerals and spices, along with a touch of candied rose. Smoke-accented blood orange and orchard fruit flavors show good intensity and pick up a buttery quality with air. Closes with very good chewy persistence and lingering florality. This shows more vivacity than last year's release. (12/ 2011)

Back in stock with a great new label! This fantastic Champagne is made entirely of Grand Cru fruit, 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay from the crus Ambonnay, Bouzy and Mailly. The wine is 60% from the 2007 harvest, with the other 40% coming from reserves of 2006 and 2005. It is very rich and powerful Champagne, with tons of Pinot Noir muscle and plenty of yeasty, toasty flavor. I find it to be one of my favorites with richer appetizers (think paté or stuffed mushrooms) or even the main course! It is very rare to see an all Grand Cru Champagne at this price, but with our direct buy (from Mr. Benoit Marguet) we are able to offer a spectacular value with this wine. This delicious bottle of bubbles really lets the Pinot fruit show. Rich and toasty with great pear fruit and mineral, this bottle will stand up to many main courses and is a pleasure to be sipped on its own!

I have enjoyed the wines of Benoit Marguet in the past but I think this may be his finest effort yet. An incomparably rich style with toasty, brioche character. Gorgeously ripe fruit that puts one in mind of a freshly baked apple tart still warm from the oven. A hedonist's delight, and, like all of our direct import Champagnes, shockingly well-priced.

Made from 100% Grand Cru fruit, wonderful Champagne. Rich but balanced, goes well with a myriad of food, like ice cream for dinner, any excuse for me to have Champagne with my whole meal.

Always one of our favorite direct import champagne producers, Marguet crafts classic style sparkling wines for a price that doesn't break the bank. Their cuvee reserve is a delicious and rich champagne full of crisp fruit flavors with an elegant, dry, and yeast filled finish. This will appeal to both fans of classic champagne and those just looking for an approachable champagne for the party.

Benoit MArguet's latest effort with his reserve Brut is one of his best. Made entirely of Grand Cru fruit with a highlight upon Pinot Noir (65%), which Benoit does best. It tends toward a richer style but, has yeast and toast for balance. Not too much. The toast and yeast add dimension but, do not overwhelm. A great price for an excellent Champagne!

I tend to lean towards the Blanc de Blanc champagne but when I'm looking for a sparkler with a bit of muscle I alway look to Marguet. Nice pinot fruit flavors with hints of yeast and toast. Beautiful!

Through the holidays this will be my go to champagne recommendation for the numerous parties where hors d'oeuvres play center stage. Gorgeous, lush, bright, and extremely food friendly at a jaw dropping price. After the holidays this will remain a perfect selection for toasts, gatherings, or just a Tuesday night.

I'm the biggest bubbles fan I know, and when I say this delightfully decadent bottle of bubbles tastes and feels like it could be easily worth a $60-$80 Champagne, I'm being very serious! If you're looking for something elegant and round with a touch of bold, masculine undertones, then you've hit the lottery! It is so incredibly versatile you can sip and savor on its own or pair it with a multitude of courses to enjoy throughout the evening. Super interesting yet approachable for all bubble loving palates!

Who knew that Montagne de Reims could produce such beautiful chardonnay fruit?!?!? Even though cuvee is dominated by 65% pinot noir from all Grand Cru vineyards, the crisp, fresh chardonnay fruit is what explodes out of the glass. Ripe pear and apple with subtle notes of toast and richness on the palate, this noticeably richer in color brut is loaded with massive amounts of bubbles and a hint of hazelnut on the finish. The perfect apertif champagne to start the evening off on the right foot.

Every time we run low on the Marguet Pere et Fils I find myself suddenly weeping uncontrollably.... ok, tears of hyperbole, but seriously, this is one of the real gems in our sparkling, zestfully toast-worthy chorus line of great Cuvee Champagnes, and if you appreciate power, panache and expressive Pinot Noir notes, pour yourself a flute of this and salute the immeasurably talented Benoit Marguet, who produces and delivers this wondrous Gran Cru to us for a song.

This is all "elegance & muscles" with plenty of Pinot Noir fruit, balanced by the finesse of the Chardonnay. Cherries together with lemon zest, pain grillé, croissant and a very delicate note of cocoa fill the nose. This is indeed Grand Cru quality, brilliantly done by a small producer, or what we call in France "Champagne de Vignerons," the pride and joy of Champagne!

One of my favorite champagnes for the $. They just get better and better, each time we receive a new batch. This pulls off the neat trick of showing terrific, rich, biscuity pinot noir berry fruit as well as finishing fresh and cleanliy. As an aside, Benoit is a great guy, authentic and engaging. Even if he was a jerk, though, I'd still buy this.

I love this Champagne so much that I put three stars next to it in my notes and almost put a hole through the paper trying to make sure they were dark enough to catch my attention at a later date. Made entirely of Grand Cru fruit from the Montagne de Reims, I love the creme fraiche and lemon zest aromatics on this - really gorgeous. On the palate it is tangy, with a lot of acidic verve and a lovely mousse; this is a Champagne that keeps on giving. And the price? Why buy grand marque when you can have Marguet?

Light & pale straw in the glass. Loads toasty brioche & apple skins on the nose. The first impression you get is of a rich wine no doubt from the PN content. Tons of toast, peach, white acacia flowers & a finish that won't quit! Exceptional way to toast my 33rd birthday!
