The 2000 Barbera d'Alba Gallina was aged 16-18 months in new French oak. It offers an explosive bouquet of tobacco, sweet black fruits, licorice, and earth. Full-bodied, intense, and velvety-textured, with great palate presence, it should be consumed over the next 5-6 years to take advantage of its exuberance. (12/ 2002)
Saturated ruby. Aromas of black cherry, blackberry, cassis, violet and bitter chocolate. Lush and dense but vibrant and delineated, with mounting sweetness leavened by a violety floral character. Oaky but also impressively primary. Finishes very long, with scented flavors of black fruits. (2/ 2003)
