Perrier Jouët "Grand Brut" Champagne

SKU #100018 91 points Wine Spectator

Elegant and finely balanced, with a subtle vein of smoky minerality underscoring juicy poached apple, candied lemon zest, gingersnap and honey notes. A fine aperitif. Drink now through 2016. (11/ 2013)

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

(40% pinot meunier, 35% pinot noir and 25% chardonnay; L1581302156): Light yellow, with a faint reflection of green. Lemon, lime and fresh pear on the spice-tinged nose. Dry and nervy, offering tangy citrus fruit flavors and a touch of white pepper. Shows good clarity and bite on the finish, which leaves a bitter quinine note behind. On the tight side for this bottling and well-suited to simply adorned or even raw fish and shellfish. (12/ 2013)

Wine Enthusiast

*Best Buy* In the elegant style of Perrier-Jouët, this is rich and stylish, showing attractive toast, with a touch of sweet apple. This standard nonvintage has some richness, while maintaining its strong, fresh quality. (12/ 2012)

Just plain excellent every time. This is my go-to $30ish NV Champagne, because it pairs well with so many foods and whoever I serve it to loves it too.
