Well, Rod Berglund has done it again. The 2008 Cuvee is the best Cuvee I have tried, even better than the 2007 which recieved 93 points from the Wine Spectator. The 2008 is a darker, heavier wine than the previous couple of vintages. A little more blue fruit blended in nicely with the cherry and raspberry fruits. Cola, spice, anise, rhubarb and earth lovingly balanced with a finish that lasts forever. The complexity and layers of flavor in this wine are incredible. This is a pinot that everyone will love. Mendoza is the most famous region in this country, but San Juan has an equally long history and can produce some delicious red wines. What do you get when you have an Englishman who comes to California to make wine? Palladian. This is not your run of the mill Napa Valley Cabernet. This is a wine inspired by the great Bordeaux houses. It reminds me of the great Philip Togni wines, but shows a little bit more Valley floor ripeness.
