Another screaming deal from New Zealand! I bought the last 25 cases or so of this delightful elegant Pinot Noir from Wairarapa on the south end of the North island. The wine has a pretty nose with strawberry, cherry, clove, forest floor and some mineral notes. On the palate their are moderate, soft fine tannins and a juicy mouth-feel with good length. We are directly importing several spectacular wines from a tiny domaine in the hills of Mâcon in a town called Vergisson. Denis Barraud has a tiny estate called Domaine des Nembrets. This Mâcon comes from his estate vineyards on the slopes of the Roche de Vergisson, a giant basalt monolith, surrounded by complex and folded rocky, well-drained soils with limestone outcroppings.
