91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Although this tastes younger than some recent bottlings of this great nonvintagem it is still a fine wine. Its apple flavors meld effortlessly with citrus, grapefruit zest and just a touch of toast to show the depth of flavor that will emerge after a few more months in bottle." (07/09) 91 points and one the Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2009: "Light and lively, featuring apple, toast, ginger and light vanilla flavors. Balanced and on the dry side, with a creamy texture and a lingering butter pastry aftertaste. Drink now t... Read More »

Château Reynon is located in Béguey, near Cadillac, on a south-facing slope of the right bank of the Garonne. Just before 1900 the estate was bought by Emile Pollet, a Parisian merchant, and then in 1958 by Jacques David who added it to his estate of Laroque. In 1976, his daughter Florence, and his son-in-law Denis Dubourdieu, take over its exploitation. The 20 hectares white vineyard is made up of 70% Sauvignon blanc and 30% Sémillon. The vineyard density is of 5,500 plants per hectare. An excellent terroir, low yields (45 hectoliters per hectare) and a... Read More »

While the renowned 1996 vintage Brut from Fleury has taken much of the acclaim, the 1995 is not to be overlooked. Even at this point, the 1996 is still tight while the 1995 expands upon the palate with bright, tart cherry fruit with hints of mandarian oranges when it is first opened. In the background, stone fruits, apple butter and nutmeg spice. As an added bonus, Fleury Champagne is biodynamic and has a long history of "green" farming methods. The entire estate was converted to biodynamics by 1992. "We leave the earth to our children," has been the say... Read More »

The Deret is a K&L Exclusive on the West Coast! I am thrilled that the Deret XO 30 year old Cognac is back in stock here at K & L Wine Merchants! I met the Vallet Family at Chateau Montifaud this past July on my business trip to France. They are a lovely family who believe whole heartedly in the art of making fantastic cognac. Because of our growing relationship with the Vallet Family, we are able to keep this phenomenal price on the Deret Cognacs. Currently, there are only a limited amount of cases available. We are hoping to have more arrive for ... Read More »

91-94 points Robert Parker: "The 2007 is loaded. Densely dark ruby/purple with a glorious nose of spring flowers, black raspberries, and sweet cherries, the wine is full-bodied, flamboyant, opulent, and tremendously pure and fresh, which is so much in keeping with the juiciness and freshness of this great vintage. It is long, layered, and textured, and will no doubt put on even more weight before it goes into bottle. This is a superb example, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it score even higher 2-3 years from now. I always find myself admiring these w... Read More »

From the masters of Champagne without dosage - the Tarlant family - comes a rosé with no dosage! This wine is composed of 85% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Noir, making it the rosé with the highest proportion of white grapes in the entire store. The red wine is sourced from a very steep site in the Aisne department called the Fourachaux, and has enough power to make this rosé in every way - not just in its perfect salmon color. The nose has a subtle toast that reminds me of waffles, but it also has a creaminess and a cherry fruit from the Pinot. On the palate... Read More »

92 points Stepehn Tanzer "Vivid red color. Impressively complex bouquet of spicy red berries, kirsch, potpourri, Asian spices and minerals. In the mouth, the spice and mineral quality complement the wine's sweet raspberry, candied cherry and currant flavors. Slow-mounting, fine-grained tannins add support to the long, brisk finish. A quintessential Cote-Rotie, emphasizing finesse and focus over brute force. I've always liked the graceful, Burgundian qualities of this estate's wines and this wine is a textbook example of that style. (Kermit Lynch Wine Mer... Read More »

Special Order Only! Will take 5-10 business days to receive this product before it can be shipped. This would make a beautiful gift for any cognac lover! Traditionnaly, spirits merchants shipped their cognacs in oak barrels and it was discovered that the cognac developed significantly during a long sea voyage. With the age of branding cognac started to be bottled at source for practical reasons. This meant that the benefits of the sea voyage disappeared as cognac does not mature once it is bottled. We now revive that old tradition by sending our Grande... Read More »
