This is the best Glenlivet expression that I have personally tasted, mainly because the supreme balance and character of the malt is fantastic. The nose is wonderful blend of rich toffee and caramel and the palate unfolds slowly with layers of dried fruits, oily malted barley, and sherry wood. The whisky is simply brimming with deliciousness and I would have no hesitation about adding a bottle or two to my personal collection. Gordon & MacPhail has also packaged this in an old school 1960's style label to make it even cooler than it already is. -David... Read More »

This is the kind of Macallan that I always read about, but never actually got to taste. The legendary older batchs that supposedly went down as some of the finest whiskies ever made. This 1972 is wonderful, so much that we're going to carry it full time rather than on a special order basis. Although it's pricy, this malt is dark and rich and is one of the more complex Speysides I've ever had, justifying its cost in my mind. Candied fruit, rich toffee, and creamy sherry roll over the tongue in slow waves until the finish comes in long and slow. This ... Read More »

Special Order Only! Will take 5-10 days to receive this product before it can be shipped. In July 1998, identically distilled whisky was filled into two different Sherry casks for full term maturation. One cask type had contained Olorosso, a dark, sweet sherry and the other Manzanilla, a pale, dry style sherry. This is a fantastic example of how cask can influence the taste of a whisky and how vastly different they can be! I find Bruichladdich to be the "chameleon" of whisky. It has the ability to take on the characteristic of any cask extremely wel... Read More »

Traditionnaly, spirits merchants shipped their cognacs in oak barrels and it was discovered that the cognac developed significantly during a long sea voyage. With the age of branding cognac started to be bottled at source for practical reasons. This meant that the benefits of the sea voyage disappeared as cognac does not mature once it is bottled. We now revive that old tradition by sending our Grande... Read More »

Color: Deep Oak Wood. Nose: Sweet orange marmalade, mature sherry oak barrel, hints of spicy cedar box and leather. Palate: Lighter in weight on the palate than the 18 year old. Just tasted. Lovely, fleshy and straightforward. This wine may still be in its youth (the Kathryn Kennedy Cabs often take years to hit maturity), but the tannins are supple and the ripe Cabernet fruit forms lovely cherry nuances. Absolutely delicious. Will age extremely gracefully. (Joe Z, K&L Wine Merchants)
Special Order Only! Will take 3-7 business days to receive this product before it can be shipped. Pittyvaich is very a hard whisky to find here in the US. The good folks at Duncan Taylor do an outstanding job a finding these very special casks. For any single malt lover out there this would make a great addition to your collection. For any single malt love born in 1979, this is a must have and simply stunning! (Susan Purnell, Spirits Buyer, K & L Wine Merchants) Color: Light, golden straw. Nose: Boiled sweets. Palate: Dried fruits with a hint of oa... Read More »

Special Order Only! Will take 3-7 business days to receive this product before it can be shipped. We want to introduce all of you to a new style of whisky. Well, not to say that this style of whisky has not been around for decades because it has. But, it is a relatively new style of whisky to most people in the US market. I am talking about Single Grain Whiskies. I was able to taste these gorgeous single grain whiskies when I visited Duncan Taylor in the summer of 2006. It was one of my first times tasting a large group of single grain whiskies. ... Read More »

From the same cask pedigree as Blacker Still but one year older, this opulent 21 year old Bruichladdich scales new heights and regrettably is unlikely to be repeated for quite some time due to the scarcity of good quality Oloroso sherry butts. This is a rare and exceptional signature Bruichladdich spirit. Oloroso sherry butts used to be widely available but are becoming increasingly difficult to find now as sherry sales and production continues to decline. Ironic... Read More »

According to the Wine Spectator: "Intense and vibrant, with a supple core of currant, black cherry and wild berry fruit that's shaded by light cedary, toasty oak and a whiff of anise. The tannins are ripe and fine-grained and it offers a good measure of depth and complexity. Drink now through 2012." (11/05) And, according to Stephen Tanzer: "Dark, bright red. Deep, smoky aromas of dark fruits, licorice, and leather, with a whiff of meaty reduction. Suave in texture, with a restrained sweetness to the redcurrant and cherry pit flavors. Smooth and fine-gr... Read More »
