96+ points Robert Parker: "The 2007 Vieux Telegraphe may be the greatest wine made at this property since the 2005 and 1998. Dense ruby/purple-tinged with an exquisite nose of salty sea breezes, licorice, ground pepper, jammy black cherries, black currants, figs, and plums, this is a full-bodied, rich, Provencal-styled offering with lots of sweet, ripe tannin. It is surprisingly accessible for a Vieux Telegraphe (this wine normally shuts down several years after bottling), but it should have great longevity (25+ years) given its power, full-bodied mouthf... 94-96 points Robert Parker: "A 100% Grenache cuvée from the sandy soils of a 106-year-old, biodynamically farmed La Crau vineyard, and aged in both foudre and tank, the 2007 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Speciale is amazing. Abundant notes of melted licorice, kirsch liqueur, and flowers is followed by a full-bodied, seamlessly constructed wine with sensational purity, texture, depth, and length. The bad news is there are only 2,000 bottles. This 2007 should drink well for two decades or more."(10/2008) 95 points Wine Spectator: "This is gorgeous, with wood s... Read More »

94 points Wine Spectator: "This shows a noticeably burly edge, particularly for the vintage, with espresso, roasted chestnut, loam, bittersweet cocoa and licorice root notes wrapped around a core of black currant and braised fig fruit. The dark, muscular finish has lots in reserve. Best from 2010 through 2027." (10/09) 92-94 points Robert Parker: "The single vineyard cuvee, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee du Quet (approximately 80% Grenache and 20% Mourvedre) is a wine of great purity and elegance exhibiting notes of blue and black fruits, truffles, ... 92-95 points Robert Parker: "The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Chante Le Merle Vieilles Vignes is 84% Grenache and equal parts Syrah and Mourvedre from 80- to 90-year-old vines on pure limestone overlaid with the famed rocks the locals call galets roules. It is aged half in large wood foudres and the other half in 600-litre demi-miuds. This wine may turn out to be their best since their debut release of this cuvee in 1990. Full-bodied, with notes of kirsch, incense, black currant, cassis, plum, fig, and roasted Provencal herbs as well as some meaty juices, th... Read More »

96-100 points Robert Parker: "Reminiscent of a hypothetical blend, stylistically speaking, of a 1990 and 1998, the opaque plum/purple 2007 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Le Secret des Sabon is off the charts. There are only 2,000 bottles of this limited cuvee, from a parcel of 100+ year old vines in the famed La Crau sector. Enormously powerful notes of grilled herbs, roasted meats, creme de cassis, blackberries, charcoal, and truffles emerge from this massive, super-concentrated 2007. A tour de force in winemaking, this is old vine intensity at its greatest and pu... Read More »

100 points Robert Parker "I have tasted the 2007 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Deus-Ex Machina three times from bottle. On two of the three times I thought it was the single greatest red wine I have ever tasted. The third time it was merely perfect. Made from 60- to 100+-year-old vines (60% tank-aged Grenache and 40% Mourvedre aged in new and one-year-old oak barrels), from yields no larger than one half ton of fruit per acre, it boasts a saturated purple color as well as a surreal concoction of heavenly aromatic delights (creme de cassis, kirsch liqueur, licorice... 96 points Wine Spectator: "This is crammed with a massive core of blueberry compote, braised fig and mulled blackberry and boysenberry fruit flavors, all wound up with graphite tannins and backed by a strong, iron-filled spine. This has serious depth and drive, with gorgeous mocha and espresso aromatics flittering throughout. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Best from 2010 through 2024."(11/2009) 92-94 points Robert Parker: "The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes is fashioned from old vine Grenache (90%) and the rest Syrah and Mourvedre, the last two... 90-92 points Robert Parker: "The 2007 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, which comes from 45- to 50-year-old vines and is a blend of 75% Grenache, 12% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah, and the rest Vaccarese, Counoise, and Cinsault, is aged in foudres, tank, and 600-litre demi-muids. This wine displays beautiful black cherry and plum-like fruit, with a gorgeous nose of nori (the seaweed wrappers used in sushi restaurants) intermixed with pepper, lavender, and spice. Very Provencal and full-bodied, with beautiful fruit purity and stunning density and personality, it should drink w... Read More »

91-94 points Robert Parker: "The 2007 is loaded. Densely dark ruby/purple with a glorious nose of spring flowers, black raspberries, and sweet cherries, the wine is full-bodied, flamboyant, opulent, and tremendously pure and fresh, which is so much in keeping with the juiciness and freshness of this great vintage. It is long, layered, and textured, and will no doubt put on even more weight before it goes into bottle. This is a superb example, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it score even higher 2-3 years from now. I always find myself admiring these w... Read More »

93-96 points Robert Parker: "A wine worth searching out when these 2007s get released early next year is the 2007 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee Imperiale. I have been a buyer of this wine in many vintages, and it is very old-vine Grenache, most of it from vines over 100 years of age. It is a blend of 90% Grenache and very ancient vines that Usseglio himself can't even identify. This is absolutely fabulous in 2007, a wine of great purity, extraordinarily vivid aromatics of black currants, black cherry liqueur, licorice, and a touch of spring flowers and spice... Read More »

92 points Robert Parker "Importer Peter Weygandt's 2007 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee Girard has a deeper ruby/purple hue and a slightly more fleshy texture, but otherwise is similar to the regular cuvee. With plenty of Provencal herb, lavender, smoke, meat juice, black cherry, and black currant characteristics, this rich, pure, sultry, opulent wine should drink well for 10-15 years." (10/09) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Shows the ripeness of the vintage, with an almost heady core of raspberry, boysenberry and blackberry fruit. But then racy acidity, a snappy ... Read More »

94 points Wine Spectator: "This is captivating, with fig and hoisin sauce aromas and flavors backed by a riveting graphite note. Superlush but defined, with the black tea, licorice snap and perfumy edge of the appellation all lingering through the velvety, lengthy finish. Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault. Drink now through 2019."(11/2009) 91-93 points Robert Parker: "Michel Tardieu uses about 80% stems in the vinification of the 2007 Gigondas Vieilles Vignes. This dark ruby/purple-hued effort reminds me of the Gigondas cuvees made by the brilliant... Read More »

98 points Robert Parker "The limited cuvee of 100% old vine Roussanne (50% vinified in barrel and 50% in tank), the 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape blanc Vieilles Vignes is an extraordinary wine. Since the debut vintage in 1986, I have been unable to figure out how to predict this cuvee’s aging potential, but I tend to agree with most sommeliers who feel this wine needs to be drunk in its first 4-6 years of life, then not touched again until age 12-15. It is so amazing, I usually drink it as quickly as I can get my hands on a few bottles. The sensational 2006 p... Read More »

Allen Meadows writes: "An earthy red berry fruit profile merges into middle weight flavors that are very Nuits in character yet they avoid overt rusticity on the firm and nicely intense finish. The tannins play a prominent role on the finale but the tannins are well integrated." (Burghound 01/08) Steve Tanzer writes: "Redcurrant and a whiff of high-toned oak on the nose. Supple and sweet, offering more density and grip than the 2007. Finishes with dusty tannins and good lingering perfume." (Internatoinal Wine Cellar, 03/09)

90-92 points Robert Parker: "Mas de Boislauzon’s 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape is full-bodied, displaying beautiful sweet kirsch, licorice, and spice box characteristics. Layered, with a stunning crunchy, chewy fruitiness, it possesses gorgeous texture as well as a fresh, lively vivacity. It should drink well for 12-15 years. One of Chateauneuf du Pape’s outstanding estates, Mas de Boislauzon is in the northern tier of the appellation, and has produced a brilliant succession of vintages over the last decade or more. As always, the differences in these vintage... Read More »

This is a special six-pack of Grand Cru Monrachet from Domaine Bouchard. Two each of the three years. 2006 - Burghound gives it 97 Points, and says "Don't Miss!": While it's almost hard to believe, here the highly perfumed nose is more complex still with a superb range of floral, orchard fruit, spice, toast, roasted nut and acacia blossom aromas that complement to perfection the big, rich, concentrated and seriously intense big-bodied flavors brimming with dry extract that confers an almost chewy texture on the magnificently long finish. This is a Montr... Read More »

90 Points and Outstanding! from Allen Meadows: "A very subtle hint of pain grillé frames an expressive nose of floral aromas, in particular acacia and here too there are discreet notes of straw that are picked up by the rich, full and precise flavor that possess fine balance on the sappy and mouth coating finish. I particularly like the underlying tension that imparts a sense of vibrancy. Lovely." (Burghound, 04/08) And, according to Wine Spectator: "A ripe version, touching on pineapple and mango flavors, along with butterscotch and a hint of citrus. S... Read More »

Superlong. Grenache and Syrah. Drink now through 2012."(11/2009) 90-92 points Robert Parker: "The 2007 Cotes du Rhone Guy Louis (equal parts Syrah and Grenache) comes from multiple sectors in the southern Rhone, primarily Rasteau, Cairanne, Coudoulet, and Plan de Dieu. This wine reveals excellent ripeness along with a sexy, alluring personality, c... Read More »

Allen Meadows writes: "Moderate reduction knocks down the nose somewhat but the earth, serious and notably firm flavors possess solid underlying material and I particularly like the focus and detail on the admirably persistent finish. Like the Charmois, this is very Nuits but not inelegant. Worth considering." (Burghound, 01/09) Steve Tanzer gives it 89+, and writes: "Good medium red. Perfumed aromas of red cherry, redcurrant, flowers and smoky oak. Suave on entry, then smooth but lively in the middle, with good cut to the redcurrant flavors. Finishes w... Read More »

Forget this blockbuster for 2-3 years, and drink it over the following 15+."(2/2009) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Lush and creamy, with captivating layers of fig sauce, crushed blueberry and succulent black cherry fruit, all backed by well-embedded acidity and a long licorice and floral finish.
