94 points from Burghound: "A presently restrained but beautifully complex and classy nose where the chardonnay aromas definitely are in evidence leads to pure, intense, detailed and equally complex flavors have just the right amount of effervescence and a fine bead. This is a seriously lovely effort and it’s one of the rare examples that, even though it is quite young, can be enjoyed now or held for up to another decade. 94/2012+" K&L's notes: "This is a very exciting 2002, and one that no serious fan of Champagne should miss. The blend is 70 % Chardonna... Read More »

98 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is an exceptional wine, as is the vintage. The fruits - grapefruit, crisp red apple - balance with a fine yeasty character. There is a great depth of flavor, the fruits going in a pure line of freshness. The one problem is that it is much too young, the result of the deamnd from the market for the next vintage. Age this wine for at least four years." (12/08) 96 points and three stars from the Connoissuers' Guide to California Wine: "Its Pinot Noir portion notwithstanding, this wine has a crisp, chalky, lightly citrusy, li... Read More »

This fantastic Champagne was made by De Meric as a tribute to Mr. Rene Collard, and it is one of the greatest Champagnes that we stock at any price. It is made exclusively from biodynamic meunier from the village of Crouttes-sur-Marne in the western part of Champagne. It was aged in old, small oak casks before bottling in 2003. The color is a gorgeous light gold, with an amazingly compact and powerful bead. On the nose it is explosively spicy with caramel apple and freshly-toasted bread notes heading a long list of adjectives. On the palate it is savory,... Read More »

Made from two plots of 65-year-old vines, one in the Grand Cru of Oger called the Chenys and one in Mesnil called the Derriere Maison, this is one of the ultimate expressions of Chardonnay that we have to offer. It might seem strange that the top bottling is offered younger than the regular vintage, but Mr. Bernard Launois is adamant that extensive sur-lee ageing is reductive and shortens the ultimate life span of the wine. He goes against almost every other producer in Champagne with this iconoclastic opinion, but for anyone who has tasted perfectly sto... Read More »

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2002 Dom Perignon is at first intensely floral, with perfumed jasmine that dominates the bouquet. With time in the glass the wine gains richness as the flavors turn decidedly riper and almost tropical. Ripe apricots, passion fruit and peaches emerge from this flashy, opulent Dom Perignon. The wine’s volume makes it approachable today, but readers in search of more complexity will want to cellar this for at least a few years to allow for some of the baby fat to drop off. Geoffroy describes the vintage as very ... Read More »

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "A wine that shows an airy character. It is very open and fresh, the white fruits floating over a creamy texture and made crisp by grapefruit skin and bitter orange flavors. But it is just beginning to develop its potential, and the wine will likely fill out, as secondary flavors come through over the next 5-6 years." (12/1/2008) Fruity and rich, this new release offers stone fruit (peach and apricot) aromatics with toasty notes of brioche and nuts. On the palate these characters are repeated along with baking spice, nice Pino... Read More »

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "A full, ripe creamy wine with a fine balance between fresh red berries and pink grapefruit crispness. There is spice, followed by a mouthful of complex berries, red plums and a firm texture. This is already delicious, but could certainly age over several years." (12/1/2008) Not exactly an unknown name in Champagne, right? You might assume that due to Clicquot's size, its wines are generic, safe and designed for the masses. But not this sexy sparkler, not by a long shot. First, beginning with the lovely smoked salmon color, ri... Read More »

Fans of toasty Champagne take note- this is one of our biggest! A blend of 33% pinot noir, 33% meunier and 33% chardonnay from vines averaging about 25 years on the families estate vineyards in Brouillet. This Champagne has a very pretty golden straw color. The nose is very leesy and doughy, showing off the six years it has aged on its yeast. It is round and carmely, with an excellent black cherry core.

This fantastic Champagne comes from the villages of Pierry and Moussy in the sud-Epernay sub region of Champagne. Bruno Michel has been organic since 1999 and 5 of his 37.5 acres are farmed biodynamically. This vintage Brut is 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Meunier, and it offers stupendous balance between simple enjoyment/drinkability and more intellectual geeked out notes of wet stone and austere minerality.

This is a special cuvee for the birth of Bernard Launois' grandson, Maxime. Only 15 cases have been imported to the USA, and we purchased the wine direct so it is a great value. This Champagne is structured for the long haul, but has lots of appeal already. Made from all estate, grand cru Chardonnay, this is the richest and most decadent of the Launois Champagnes that we carry. It maintains its minerality, has fantastic hints of citrus, and a finish that won't quit. It pairs perfectly with cracked crab, oysters or any other shellfish. -Gary Westby, K&L

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Are delicate and full-bodied contradictions? Not here, with this ripe, red-fruit-flavored wine, which still creeps delicately around the palate. From its just pink color to its soft, yet still crisp aftertaste, this is a well-balanced wine, which could probably age well for 2-3 years." (12/30/2007)

91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Nov/Dec 08: "Bright gold with a fine bead. Smoky, powerfully scented bouquet displays lemon custard, buttery brioche and dried flowers. A spicy, focused midweight, offering juicy pear and mineral flavors and a late note of bitter lemon zest. Gains power with air and finishes with lingering pear and mineral notes. This is complex enough to drink now." 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2002 Millesime Brut is a beautiful, poised wine that artfully balances fruit and structure. The fruit reve...
