There are many great bottles of Chardonnay and this is no exception, yet not many leave you with such satisfaction while not draining your wallet. It does not pretend to challenge the established icons of the wine world; it is merely delicious, friendly and under 7 bucks, a perfect bottle for Tuesday night, something to reach for to quench your thirst and that of your friends. The wine is produced by the three brothers Couillaud at the Château de la Ragotière a few minutes from the Atlantic near the mouth of the Loire River where the Maritime climate is... Read More »

95 points Wine Spectator: "Seems very rich at first, with blood orange, persimmon and ginger notes, but then the fine minerality takes over, carrying it to a long elegant finish thanks to its rapierlike acidity. Each sip makes you want another. Drink now through 2020." (11/06) An extremely rare wine - only 250 cases made - selling at 60% off due to a supplier change and inventory liquidation, making this an unreal bargain. This is from a single parcel of vines that are 60 years old, it is all hand harvested, all organically farmed and aged in stainless steel for 7 months on its lees with some stirring for added richness. Here we have a bottle that can give most Sancerre a run for their money (actually less money) with its distinctive minerality and freshness coupled with effusive aromas of candied citrus, honeydew melon and sweet herbs.

This delicious wine comes from a combination of vineyard sites both in Verdigny in Sancerre and some parcels just outside the appellation to the west. The Fournier family, with roots as deep as their vines in this region seem to be related to just about everyone in some way and have for generations been farming and producing wines in Sancerre. We are pleased to have been offered this wine, yet again, at such a great price. Soft, subtle mineral notes are wrapped up in aromatics of melon and citrus. The Veuve du Vernay Brut is the ultimate holiday party wine. A crisp, clean, and refreshing sparkler that brings the term "bang for your buck" to new levels. Rarely does such a tasty sparkling wine (or any wine for that matter) come in under the seven dollar mark. For a celebration, dinner with friends, or any festive occasion, there is absolutely nothing that can top this wine bargain-wise. The wine is bright and zesty with hints of apple and pear on the nose and a juicy yet dry finish. Buy it by the bottle, or by the case, but either way make sure that... Read More »

If you love Sancerre, but not the cost, you need to discover the wines of Quincy. Like Sancerre, these wines are 100% Sauvignon Blanc. And this incredible value from Ballandors is just as minerally, high acid and grippy as any Sancerre that's twice the price. It features green apple and citrus fruit on the nose and palate and a bright, steely finish. And just like its fancy pants neighbor, this 2007 is fantastic to pair with oysters, clams, crab or anything featuring fresh herbs and chevre.

Club Price: $13.9591 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Janvier's 2008 Jasnieres features white peach, Persian melon, quince, mint, licorice, and lime, with honey and a hint of caramel offering counterpoint to its bright fruit and glistening minerality. Subtle peach kernel bitterness is nicely integrated into the finish thanks to persistently mouth-watering acidity as well as a judicious hint of sweetness. The deeply rich, bitter-sweet, orange rind-, sassafras-, and licorice-tinged finish remains thirst-quenching and invigorating, with chalk, salt, and iodine inflecti... Read More »

The wines of this family domaine have been a staple here at K&L since the 1994 vintage, when Franck and Betty Millet drove from Sancerre to Beaune (a long way) to meet Clyde and crew to present the wines. The wines were great even in that tough vintage, and the rest is history. We love these wines for their freshness, charm and affordability, and this is easily our best value Sancerre in the store. The Tessier Cheverny Rouge is a luscious blend of Gamay, Pnot Noir and Côt (Malbec). This medium-bodied beauty is supple and elegant, a portrait of restraint and purity and just about one of the happiest wines we have in the store. The Veuve du Vernay Rosé is a sparkling wine that you can buy by the case without breaking the bank. It is simply an unbeatable deal that should be a dazzling hit at any holiday celebration this season. The rosé offers nice soft red fruit on the palate with a richness that truly stands out against all other bargain sparklers. The wine is simply delicious and is an anomaly at $6.99. For anyone on a budget, or for those looking to supply a large number of guests, we couldn't be happier to offer such an obvious winner.

A wine with tiny, long-lasting bubbles, De Chanceny's Cremant de Loire Rosé is a lovely gleaming pink, enticing with a delicate, nervy nose and aromas of fresh red fruit. It's lively on the attack and has lovely aromatic intensity and brightness. Well-balanced in the mouth, this sparkler is enhanced by a fresh but subtle finish. The wine is stored for at least 12 months on racks in freestone cellars before disgorging to make incomparably fine bubbles. The fruit comes from 20- to 30-year-old vines.

This little baby is a real charmer! Made up of Pinot Noir and Gamay, there are blasting aromatics of bright, spicy red fruits and just a touch of creamy texture through the finish. This wine is 100% Cabernet Franc selected from multiple terroirs in the region of Saumur, in the Loire Valley. This wine has an earthy, dense nose with hints of black fruits and iron. A clean and refreshing style of Cabernet Franc, there are no weird or overwhelming notes of green pepper here! This would be fantastic with grilled and/or braised meats. It could use a little bottle age or a good 45 minutes of decanting to really show its stuff.

Loire rosé. Kind of a generic unimposing name for a wine that is this incredibly tasty. The Tijou family, proprietors of Chateau Soucherie, has a long history as "viticulteurs" in the Loire Valley region near Angers. In fact, they have practiced their craft, father to son, since 1780. In this rosé their experience with cabernet is evident. Strawberry and herb aromas rise up from the glass. On the palate these are echoed, along with a nice licorice note. Enjoy with picnic foods like chicken salad, smoked fish, green olives and un-aged cheeses.
