Many here will tell you this is the best deal we've got in all three stores, the warehouse, website, and every other corner where we've looked. It comes from the insanely good 2007 Rhône Valley vintage, and brings the noise like a wine five-times its price. Get in on this while it lasts. 89 points Robert Parker: "The 2007 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Perrin Reserve may be the finest wine yet made under this moniker. This sells for a whopping $12 a bottle. A blend of essentially equal parts Syrah and Grenache, it offers a deep ruby/purple hue along with sweet... Read More »

89+ points Robert Parker: "A new discovery for me, the 2007 Cotes du Rhone (a 4,000+-case blend of Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah, Cinsault, and Counoise) is a seriously built, concentrated, powerful effort displaying notes of garrigue, pepper, lavender, kirsch, and black currants. It also exhibits that wonderful seaweed wrapper (nori) scent that seems to be a characteristic of many southern Rhone wines. This full-bodied Cotes du Rhone will benefit from another 1-2 years of cellaring, and should drink well for 7-8 years." (10/09) Just across the Rhône river... Read More »

89 points Stephen Tanzer: "Deep, bright red. Fresh strawberry and raspberry on the nose, with sexy violet and rose accents. Sweet red berry flavors are sharpened by notes of cracked pepper and lifted by tangy minerality. Finishes firm and chewy, with a bright redcurrant note. Suave and focused for the category, as usual. This cuvee has a good track record for aging." According to Robert Parker: "A strong effort, the deeply-hued, seductive 2004 Cotes du Rhone (primarily Syrah with some Grenache included in the blend) displays loads of berry fruit, not a ... Wine Club
Club Price: $7.99The wines from Jean Durup appear under several different labels, but are the same lovely, focused and mineral-driven Chablis. Fantastic Chardonnay in a totally different style than you will find from much of CA and Australia, and at a price that is quite appealing from this part of the world. Allen Meadows writes: "A slightly riper nose that also offers up green fruit but with oyster shell, iodine and a saline note that merges into rich, round and generous flavors that are delicious and forward yet there is firm supporting acidity. This too is lovely fo... Read More »

Wine Club
Club Price: $13.9588 points in the Wine Advocate: "'Michel Delhommeau’s 2008 Muscadet de Sevre et Maine Sur Lie Cuvee Saint Vincent is delightfully and refreshingly dominated by citrus, salt, chalk, and green apple. While one can’t call it complex, its combination of textural polish, mouth-watering purity, and invigoration is hard to beat for the price. Enjoy this over the coming 12-18 months." From the village of Monnieres comes this very focused bottling of Muscadet. Raised in gabbro and gneiss soils, which give this wine soft wet minerals notes that are coated with hon... Read More »

According to the Wine Spectator: "Tangy up front, with grilled herb, tobacco and red plum fruit. This lets the grilled herb edge take over on the finish, which shows nice grip." For lovers of fine wines from France’s Rhône Valley, the answer is simple: Jean-Luc Colombo. Hailed as "the winemaking wizard" of the Rhône, Colombo has achieved a high-profile international reputation for innovative wines, bursting with personality. With wi... Read More »

89 points Wine Spectator: "Muscular but forward, with roasted plum and fig notes backed by braised chestnut and dark tobacco. There's solid grip on the finish. Drink now through 2016." (02/09) 88 points Robert Parker: "The 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape has a dark ruby/plum color and a sweet black cherry and currant nose with notes of loamy soil intermixed with a hint of nori (the seaweed wrapper used in sushi restaurants), as well as pepper and lavender. It is very spicy, and that, of course, is a signature of the 2006s. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. Cha... Read More »

Wine Club
Club Price: $24.99Allen Meadows writes: "Here the wood is extremely subtle, indeed almost invisible with the pretty white flower and pear suffused nose serving as the perfect introduction to round, pleasant and energetic flavors that possess moderate depth on the solidly long and notably dry finish. There is good underlying material here and as such my score offers the benefit of the doubt that this will add complexity with a year or two in bottle." (Burghound, 07/08)

89+ points Robert Parker: "The 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape is tannic, masculine, virile, and backward, revealing a dark ruby/purple color, hints of licorice, white chocolate, roasted nuts, and plenty of black currants and cherries. There are some attractive peppery spices and lushness on the attack, but then the wine quickly shuts down. This is a wine meant for 3-4 years of bottle age that should last for 15 or more years. To repeat what I’ve said in the past, this is a top-flight estate making Chateauneuf du Pape for long-term aging, with the top cuvees es... Read More »

89 points Robert Parker: "This primarily Merlot-based wine represents an excellent effort from this property. This deep plum/ruby/purple-tinged hussy boasts plenty of jammy black cherry fruit interwoven with notions of smoke, vanilla, and white chocolate. It is a sexy, up-front, fleshy effort with low acidity as well as abundant fruit, glycerin, and texture. Consume it over the next 7-8 years." (04/06) According to the Wine Spectator: "Lots of plum, berry and cherry aromas follow through to a full-bodied palate, with silky tannins and a long finish. Ver... Read More »

The basic Gewurztraminer from Trimbach is a real gem for those of you who like the spicy exotic aromas that this grape is renowned for but who don't appreciate the cloying and often times sweet character in other wines. This is dry and racy showing the classic Trimbach restraint with this grape resulting in a delicious lichee and orange peel-scented beauty. 89 points Wine Spectator: "This dry, light-bodied white has a minerally undertow to its flavors of grapefruit, smoke, orange granita and spice. There's good balance, with a modest finish. Drink now t... Read More »

89 points Wine Spectator: "Floral, blackberry and mineral on the nose. Full-bodied, with supersilky tannins and a pretty finish of mineral and fruit. Very reserved and refined for a second wine. The second wine of Pichon-Longueville-Lalande. Best after 2012." (Web 08) K&L's notes - It's hard to believe that this is a second wine; it's so elegant and refined. Comprised of 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, 49% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 11% Petit Verdot packed with summer fruit on the bouquet: blackberries, plums and strawberries, punctuated by orange blossom a... This rosé is made from 60% Pinot Noir, 30% Meunier and 10% Chardonnay. It has great fruit on the nose and the Pinot Noir mark is strong in this elegant bottle of bubbles. It is quite dry and light for a wine with this much flavor. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer) 89 points Wine Spectator: "This is spicy, showing strawberry and cherry flavors that fold nicely into the rich texture. The spice elements continue from start to finish. Nice length. Drink now." (11/09) According to the Wine Enthusiast: "A strawberry-fruited wine, with a pink sunset color an... Read More »

89 points Robert Parker: "Less impressive from bottle than it was from barrel, the 2005 Bellegrave reveals a deep ruby color along with sweet aromas of black cherries, mocha, dried herbs, and a touch of earth. Medium-bodied and fruit-forward, with good acidity, smooth tannin, and an easy-going personality, it will provide plenty of pleasure over the next 10-12 years." (04/08)

88-89 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Jadot’s white 2006 Savigny-les-Beaune Les Vergelesses smells of lemon candy, marjoram, oak spice, and white peach. Uniting a doughy sense of substantiality with refreshing brightness and clarity, it finishes with impressive intensity, promising the potential for 4-6 years of bottle maturation." (12/08)

Wine Spectator writes: "Bright raspberry and wild berry notes are buoyant, thanks to the lively structure. The tannins are well integrated. Elegant and moderately concentrated. Drink now through 2012." K&L's notes - Big, spicy and showing an interesting bit of earthiness. Nice finish. This has come around and integrated nicely since I first tasted it at the Domaine in 2007. A Best Buy, Wine & Spirits: "The fresh berry flavors are fragrant and tart, underlined by soft notes of ginger, cinnamon and allspice. It's fruity and delicious." (04/09) 89 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The early-drinking 2007 Bougeuil Trinch! is seamlessly ripe, gushing with tart blackberry and mulberry, with a palate-saturating, anything-but-thin palate presence (despite low alcohol) and rich dark chocolate, toasted nut, and pungent herbal notes in the finish. Very pretty and pure Chambolle fruit, with a lovley focus and a long finish. Needs just a bit of time to resolve the spicy finish. (Keith Wollenberg, K&L Burgundy Buyer, 08/08) Allen Meadows writes: "A very Chambolle nose that is elegant and refined with floral notes, in particular rose petal, add nuance to the pretty red pinot fruit aromas that lead to clean, intense and very fresh flavors that possess excellent energy and fine density though the punchy finish is somewhat edgy..." 89 points Robert Parker: "Most consumers outside of Bordeaux are probably far more familiar with the brilliant white wine made here than their red, but this is an elegant, Burgundian-styled red that could pass for a grand cru from the Cotes de Beaune. Sweet and sour cherry notes intermixed with notions of new saddle leather, burning embers, and tobacco leaf emerge from the complex aromatics. This dark ruby/purple-tinged, medium-bodied 2006 is not a blockbuster, but a wine of considerable grace, finesse, and elegance. Drink it over the next 12-15+ years."... Read More »

Offers good sweetness and intensity of cherry, violet and mineral flavors. Seems sweeter and fresher than the 2004 was at the same stage. Finishes with good ripe tannins." Four stars Michael Broadbent (last tasted June 2000): "Tasted nine times in the last decade, the last two dining at the chateau. Remarkably good for a '75 - rich, flavoury, full of fruit, its tannin completely submerged." 89 points Wine Spectator: "Slightly tough, but a damn nice glass of red. Ruby-garnet in color, with tobacco, cedar and fruit aromas and flavors. Medium- to full-bodied with full, velvety tannins and ripe fruit. Will improve with age.- Pichon-Lalande vertical." (11/97)

André Brunel, the renowned producer in Châteauneuf-du-Pape of Les Cailloux, also owns this small Côtes du Rhône vineyard located just outside of Châteauneuf-du-Pape near the village of Orange. The 9 hectare parcel is in one contiguous piece, is very flat and very exposed to the sun. The vines were planted in 1978. This wine is a blend of 90% Grenache, with 5% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre. André de-stems 90% of the grapes to ensure the purity and roundness of the Grenache fruit. This wine is entirely made in stainless steel tank and no more than 1300 cases... Read More »

89 points and "Sweet Spot" from Allen Meadows: "Here the aromas are notably riper as are the underlying structural elements with an elegant and pure mix of red and blue berries, violets, dried orange peel and a touch of earth that is reflected by the nicely rich, full and mouth coating flavors that manage to retain a fine sense of detail on the sappy and lightly minerally finish. Lovely and recommended at this level." (Burghound, 04/09)

89 points Robert Parker: "If you have the patience to wait 2 or 3 years, the Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras, from the superb Premier Cru vineyard next to the Grand Cru Bonnes Mares, is intense, full bodied, and deep, with gorgeous levels of fruit. However, it needs time to shed its tannins. Of the 1988s, it is by far Barthod's most powerful wine." (01/90)

89 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Suggestion of wintermint on the nose; a bit muted by SO2 Rich and spicy but dry and linear. Conveys an impression of extract and hints of pear and apple skin. Finishes with good length." (Sep/Oct 06) According to Allen Meadows: "A generously toasty nose fights somewhat with the otherwise elegant white flower and anise-infused aromas that complement the rich, full and sweet flavors that possess excellent volume, particularly in the context of the vintage and culminate in a nicely long finish. From a blend of Aux Reas and Les Violettes: "Here too there is a background touch of wood spice framing the violet and dark berry fruit aromas where notes of earth, anise and a hint of underbrush can also be found and continues onto the delicious, round and velvety flavors that possess a seductive mouth feel on the balanced, long and sappy finish. This is very Vosne in basic character and worth a look as this is really quite good." (Burghound)
