2005 Mille Roses, Haut-Médoc $14.99
Many here will tell you this is the best deal we've got in all three stores, the warehouse, website, and every other corner where we've looked. It comes from the insanely good 2007 Rhône Valley vintage, and brings the noise like a wine five-times its price. Get in on this while it lasts. 89 points Robert Parker: "The 2007 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Perrin Reserve may be the finest wine yet made under this moniker. This sells for a whopping $12 a bottle. A blend of essentially equal parts Syrah and Grenache, it offers a deep ruby/purple hue along with sweet... Read More »

95 points Wine Spectator: "Seems very rich at first, with blood orange, persimmon and ginger notes, but then the fine minerality takes over, carrying it to a long elegant finish thanks to its rapierlike acidity. Each sip makes you want another. Drink now through 2020." (11/06) An extremely rare wine - only 250 cases made - selling at 60% off due to a supplier change and inventory liquidation, making this an unreal bargain. Philippe Delesvaux, a Parisian, was not born into viticulture, but came to the vine while working on his agricultural studies on a c... Read More »

According to Robert Parker: "Soft, cedar, black cherry and currant fruit intermixed with hints of tobacco leaf and spice emerge from this round, generously endowed, soft Haut-Medoc. A blend of 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, it can be drunk now or kept for 5-6 years." (08/08) And, from the Wine Spectator: "Shows ripe raspberry and plum aromas, with hints of tea and light toasty oak. Medium-bodied, with very clean fruit and a soft, silky finish. Not a big wine, but pretty and fruity, with good complexity. Best after 2009." (Web only, 2008) David ... Read More »

This is from a single parcel of vines that are 60 years old, it is all hand harvested, all organically farmed and aged in stainless steel for 7 months on its lees with some stirring for added richness. Here we have a bottle that can give most Sancerre a run for their money (actually less money) with its distinctive minerality and freshness coupled with effusive aromas of candied citrus, honeydew melon and sweet herbs.

Domaine de Mayran is a small biodynamic estate run by brothers Frederic and Bernard Duseigneur who are fifth generation vignerons from the Rhone Valley. This 2007 grenache based Rhone posesses generous amounts of deep red fruits, along with just a hint of spice and white pepper. The tannins are ripe and fine, making this elegant red the perfect accompaniment to a wide variety of mediterranean inspired dishes. Delicious, well priced and bio-dynamic? Yes, it's almost too good to be true, but it is! 14% abv.

91 points from Robert Parker: "A brilliant 100% Grenache cuvee from old vines, the 2007 Cotes du Rhone-Villages La Granacha Signargues comes from an organically farmed parcel, and is bottled unfined and unfiltered with no SO2 additions. Deep ruby to the rim, with beautiful aromas of kirsch liqueur, melted licorice, ground pepper, and garrigue, it is a superb, full-bodied effort with terrific precision, definition, and concentration. This beauty should drink well for 5-6 years." (Feb 09) In 1994 Eric visited the Vignerons d’Estazarques and met a young, p... Read More »

The estate has 25 hectares of vines. Eighteen hectares are red varietals, cabernet sauvignon and merlot, and seven hectares are white. The 2005 Château Laubarit Bordeaux is even better than the very successful 2003 vintage that we featured in the club last year. It is rich and ripe like the 2003, but it has more depth of flavor, better balance and a longer finish. Fabulous vintage, great tasting and very affordable red. You can cellar this for a few years or enjoy it tonight one hour after decanting it. Try with rack of lamb! Certified organic too!

It is made of half Chardonnay and half Pinot Noir from the chalkiest portion of the Tarlant family's hillside vineyards in Oeuilly (Vallée de la Marne). The Tarlant family uses organic practices in the vineyard- but they are very coy about calling themselves organic, no doubt due to the family's prominence in the vignerons association in Champagne.
