97 points Robert Parker - "The flagship wine, the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select performed even better this year than last year. A candidate for one of the top wines of the vintage,it reveals beautiful aromas and flavors of grilled meats and herbs intertwined with extravagant amounts of blackberry and cassis fruit, licorice, and charcoal. Extremely full-bodied, pure, deep, and layered, this is another prodigious Hillside Select that should evolve for 25-30 years." Hillside Select is made of 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon fruit sourced from rugg... Read More »

According to Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, May/Jun 10: "Bright, full red-ruby. Musky blackberry, tobacco, tar and chocolate on the nose, plus a note of dill. Plum, raspberry and tobacco flavors are intensified by sound acidity, with the musky quality carrying through in the mid-palate..."

94 points Wine Enthusiast: " A terrific Zinfandel, with a polished, pretty structure and ripe, vibrantly classic Zinny flavors. Floods the mouth with berries, cola, licorice, mocha and dusty spices, wrapped into beautifully fine, ripe tannins. Impossible to resist sip after sip. Defines Russian River Zinfandel at its best." (03/10) 92-93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Opaque purple. Powerfully scented bouquet of dark berries, candied cherry, licorice and fresh violet. Deep blackberry and blueberry flavors coat the palate, picking up ... Read More »

According to the Wine Spectator: "Intense and vibrant, with a supple core of currant, black cherry and wild berry fruit that's shaded by light cedary, toasty oak and a whiff of anise. The tannins are ripe and fine-grained and it offers a good measure of depth and complexity. Drink now through 2012." (11/05) And, according to Stephen Tanzer: "Dark, bright red. Deep, smoky aromas of dark fruits, licorice, and leather, with a whiff of meaty reduction. Suave in texture, with a restrained sweetness to the redcurrant and cherry pit flavors. Smooth and fine-gr... Read More »
Just tasted. Lovely, fleshy and straightforward. This wine may still be in its youth (the Kathryn Kennedy Cabs often take years to hit maturity), but the tannins are supple and the ripe Cabernet fruit forms lovely cherry nuances. Absolutely delicious. Will age extremely gracefully. (Joe Z, K&L Wine Merchants)
According to Wine Spectator: "Austere, with a pleasant mineral and earth quality and a tight beam of currant, cherry and wild berry flavors that fan out nicely. No mistaking its tannic strength, but it's well made and balanced. Best from 2005 through 2012. 600 cases made." (05/04) A favorite at the K&L Kathryn Kennedy tasting. The wine still shows some new oak character, but has begun the resolution that can take decades for this property. The wine is still a bit firm - and will age very well- but shows its colors with an hour or two of air. A dash of ch... Read More »
