This winery is so small they don't even have a website. This Syrah comes from Flocchini Vineyard on Old Lake Lakeville Rd at the south end of Petaluma. This wine really showcases the appellation's cool-climate fruit. Smoked meat and earth aromas carry over to the full but soft and creamy palate. This is a wonderfully nuanced Syrah for the price.

The fruit comes from a number of sites in Sonoma County all planted on "creek bed soil" along the Russian River. Combine the fruit with a no oak treatment and you'll get a wine that is unbelievably fresh, with Kaffir lime, chalk and grapefruit aromas that give way to ripe pears, honey and minerals on the palate. David Bruce's Chardonnay comes from the D&J Vineyard in Calfiornia's Russian River Valley. Like walking through a citrus grove and taking a deep breath, punctuated by kiwi and orange blossom. Good acidity and minerality keep the fruit in check and make this a good match for fish, salad or poultry.
