95 points Wine Enthusiast: "A very fine Cabernet that combines the modern cult style ripeness with old-fashioned structure to produce a wine of exceptional appeal. It's rich in mountain-intense black currants, bitter chocolate, spices and smoky oak, wrapped into splendid tannins, and the finish is throroughly dry. The grapes are from the Sonoma side of Spring Mountain, and the winemaker was veteran Marco DiGiulio." (11/09) According to the Wine Spectator: "Smoky, toasty roasted herb and berry flavors are rich and full-bodied, showing plenty of oak and e... Read More »

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Most of the grapes came from the Annapolis Vineyard, with some from Seascape. While the vintage was cool, it gave incredibly long hangtime. Dry, crisp and delicate, the wine has a silky voluptuousness that makes it irresistible, with pie-filling cherry and black raspberry flavors finished with Asian spice. New French oak adds toast and vanilla sweetness. It's expensive, but still a bargain." (5/1/2007) 90 points and one star from the Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine: "A substantial Pinot from first sniff to aftertaste, t... Read More »

Crisp, clean, fast and racy, this brand spanking new 2008 brings a riper style with the lean, crisp grapefruit, lychee nut and herbs. This is a high impact wine with an elegant, pure Sauvignon Blanc finish. 100% stainless steel fermentation and zero time in barrel. This is a summertime wine if ever there was one.

94 points & Top 10 wines of 2008, Wine News: "Dense garnet hue. Complex scents of black cherry, allspice and vanilla with secondary nuances of menthol and licorice. Creamy flavors of black cherry and blackberry. Velvety tannins and layers of blueberry, vanilla and mocha in the close." (12/08)

92 points and an Editors' Choice Wine Enthusiast: "An absolutely beautiful Zin, and a must-have for restaurant wine lists. It's pure and complex in blackberries, cherries, cola and mocha, with wonderful spices erupting all the way though, and the most elegant silky texture. What a great job." (12/09) 90 points from the Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine: "8% Petite Sirah; 7% Syrah; 6% Grenache; 3% Carignane. When measured against its far riper cousins, this very well-balanced wine may seem a bit light on muscle, but what is really missing is fat, an... Read More »

A "throwback" Zin. No jammy, sweet, mouthcoating flavors here. No searing alcohol. Just a rock solid Old World-styled Zin bursting with flavor. The tangy, fresh raspberry and cranberry fruit flavors belie the wine's age, leading to a much snappier version of Zin than most are used to. Add some cracked white pepper, dried tobacco, marjoram and cinnamon stick flavors and this becomes much more complex and drinkable than about 90% of the Zins on the market. If you want to taste a slice of Zin history, this is a perfect wine for you. If you like Zin that tas... Read More »

Fans of buttery, rich California-style chardonnays will love the new vintage of Sonoma-Cutrer's Sonoma Coast Chardonnay. Complete malolactic fermentation done entirely in barrel give this wine its texture and its oaky profile. Like a tropical breeze, the wine has spicy ginger, coconut, melon and white flower aromas on its nose. The aromas repeat again in the mouth, all pinned down by a zingy pineapple note. Try with a tangy cheese, like fresh chevre, or on its own. According to Wine Enthusiast: "Here's a rich Chardonnay. It's upfront in pineapple pie, pe... Read More »

Once again , this wine hits the spot. Great wine at a great price. Luscious red fruit, hint of blue fruit, forest floor, a pinch of baking spices. A balanced, cold weather pinot noir. The wine won't last very long, it has very limited production. (Mike Jordan, K&L Wine Merchants)

90 points Wine & Spirits: "There's a fineness to the raspberry and fraises des bois flavor in this wine, with the crisp impression of fruit just coming into ripeness. The aroma is floral and tight, the finish showing more oak than fruit at the moment, needing a year in bottle to come into balance." (10/09) According to Robert Parker: "The Pinot Noirs include the very good 2007 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast, which exhibits crisp, plum, cherry, and allspice characteristics along with good body and an attractive, fragrant style. 91 points and two stars from the Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine: "58% Zinfandel; 22% Carignane; 18% Petite Sirah; 2% Mataro. An intriguing note of cranberry-like fruit sets this offering off on a track of its own while complexing elements of sweet oak, anise, dark chocolate and tar contribute further distinction. Somewhat tighter than most past Geyserville bottlings, it is a solidly structured effort whose ample richness is met by lots of vitality, and, if a bit angular at this point, it promises to blossom with a few years of age and reward thos... This winery is so small they don't even have a website. This Syrah comes from Flocchini Vineyard on Old Lake Lakeville Rd at the south end of Petaluma. This wine really showcases the appellation's cool-climate fruit. Smoked meat and earth aromas carry over to the full but soft and creamy palate. This is a wonderfully nuanced Syrah for the price.

93 points Robert Parker: "Slightly better is the 2006 Syrah Shanel Vineyard. It includes 3% Viognier, but it is less noticeable at this stage. An opaque purple color is followed by enormous quantities of blackberries intermixed with tapenade, acacia flowers, and truffles. Full-bodied, meaty, and dense, it cuts an even broader mouthfeel than its sibling. It, too, can be drunk over the next decade. 90 points Robert Parker: "There are 6,200 cases of the 2007 Chardonnay Russian River. It exhibits plenty of tropical fruit and honeysuckle along with a touch of spice, full-bodied, rich flavors, and a subtle note of oak. This wine was 100% barrel-fermented and was put through 100% malolactic fermentation, but the oak is kept in the background." Seghesio's "Home Ranch" vineyard was planted in 1895. This head-trained, Alexander Valley site faired better than well in 2007. In fact, ordinarly reserved winemaker Ted Seghesio calls this their "best vintage to date." Sweet graham cracker and briar fruit aromas lure you in. If you can pull your nose far enough out of the glass to tilt it back and drink the wine, you'll experience mouth-filling berry fruit, cracked black pepper, smoke and cocoa powder flavors framed with focused old vine acidity and fine, ripe tannins. Seghesio's Rockpile Zin is a double-whammy - it showcases the concentrated fruit that comes from the steep, rocky Rockpile appellation while also waving the flag of a stellar vintage, one winemaker Ted Seghesio calls the best to date. 95 points and three stars from the Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine: "20% Petite Sirah; 4% Carignane. The mating of Teldeschi fruit with the Ravenswood hand has yielded superb results across the years, and 2006 is not exception. From its first nose of ripe, concentrated blackberries tinged with sweet spices to the background notes of soils, toast and toffee to its varietally compelling flavors firmed by tough yet fruit-buffered tannins, this one never lets up, but it does want time in the cellar to soften its age-demanding astringency." 95 points, three stars and a "Top 10 Wines of 2008" designation from the Connoisseurs' Guide to California wine: "Some years back Ridge removed the varietal identifier from its Geyserville red wine made substantially from Zinfandel but a field-blend in reality. But whatever they call it, it has been and continues to be a terrific Zinfandel by any standard. David Bruce's Chardonnay comes from the D&J Vineyard in Calfiornia's Russian River Valley. Like walking through a citrus grove and taking a deep breath, punctuated by kiwi and orange blossom.
