This one's a clean, crisp and ultimately refreshing sparkler that is one of our favorties. Just this year imported to the U.S. and now available for your holiday celebrations! According to Wne Enthusiast: "This sparkler offers a beautiful nose of white flower, orange blossom, curshed peppercorn, talc powder and almond skin. There's a focused sharpness here that helps give the wine definition, staying power and loads of character." (07/09)

Collalbrigo was founded by Alberto Cosulich in 1967 and since 1996 his son Francesco has run the winery. The estate of Collalbrigo is located in the first hill outside of Conegliano, its beautiful steep slopes having been treasured by noble Venetian families and devoted to viticulture for centuries. Their wildly popular (in Italy, anyway) prosecco is made with 90% Prosecco and 10% Pinot bianco. The bouquet has an unmistakably fruity aroma reminiscent of pears and golden apples. On the palate it is rich, intense and smooth.

The Drusian Family has been producing wine for three generations. It all started with Grandfather Giuseppino in the middle of 19th Century. His son Rino followed… all the way up until 1984, after which Francesco has carried on the duties. He is deeply enchanted by his land and its grapes, and it is thanks to him that certain technological innovations were made at this historic estate. Production at the moment is about 200 thousand bottles a year of Prosecco and Cartizze, thus it is limited in quantity and of an extremely high quality. No pesticides or in... Read More »

An Editors' Choice, Wine Enthusiast: " Very characteristic of the variety, with perfumes of white flower, citrus, lemon soda and drying mineral tones. The wine offers intensity and precision with focused attention on acidity and citric freshness. Try with fried wontons or eggrolls. (07/09)

According to the Wine Enthusiast: "This Prosecco-based sparkler (with fruit from outside the traditional Prosecco zone) offers creamy froth and sweet notes of peach, mint leaf and almond nut. It has medium intensity, nice crispness..." (12/15/2007)

Ah, Piedmont! Home to Italy's most long-lived reds: Barolo and Barbaresco. Piedmont also lays claim to this frothy number, a semi-sweet sparkling wine that shares as much in common with Barolo as a turnip does with a root beer float. To begin with, there's the preponderance of wild strawberry fruit, and the effervescent goodness that is not totally dissimilar to Moscato, only this one is pink. Deep pink. Gulpable pink. And a nice note of acidity on the finish prevents tooth aches. After a certain age it is unseemly to drink cherry soda pop in public. Go ... Read More »

The Bronca sisters grow their own fruit in steep hillside vineyards, then make their own base wine and perform the secondary (sparkling) fermentation three or four times a year (to ensure freshness). Low yields and hillside-grown fruit ensures that the wine has good concentration and acidity, this last necessary to balance the traditional Extra-Dry level of sweetness. (Extra-Dry is slightly less dry than Brut, confusingly. Both terms are used to describe the amount of sweetness in sparkling wines. The Prosecco drunk in Italy is always Extra-Dry; the pear... According to Lynne Char Bennett in the San Francisco Chronicle: "Frizzante rather than spumante, this unusual Prosecco is a light pink-colored wine. It is bottled with a cork and string - no cage or foil. The nose has subtle berryish tones underscored with light peach and blossoms; then gently tart flavors and a long, pleasant finish. It can definitely take you to lox-and-bagel territory without breaking the bank. A blend of 75 percent Pinot Bianco, 15 Prosecco and 10 Pinot Nero." (Sunday, May 3, 2009)

Fresh, low-alcohol 5.5%, semi sparkling, sweet, red wine! Serve chilled this super refreshing and easy to drink Piemontese wine made predominantly from Brachetto grapes in the tiny town of Santo Stefano Belbo will charm the pants off you. Buy two - you won't be able to resist. This wine is produced using the Charmat method, which gives a sparkle to the gorgeous strawberry aromatics, and although it's sweet, the crsip acidity makes this wine perfectly balanced. Have on a summer afternoon, with Sunday brunch or your late night munchies. It is like a soda w... Read More »

This medium dry sparkling wine is made with the Charmat method, a process discovered by Antonio Carpene and Louis Pasteur, which allows a sparkling wine to be made in approximately three months. This process limits the influence of the yeast and places emphasis on the fruit. Golden delicious apples dominate the flavors, while the fine perlage cleanses the palate and refreshes the taste buds. Great with any dish!

Muscat grapes, being particularly aromatic, require a special wine-making technique in order to preserve the fruit's potent fragrance and to create a wine that is light on its feet and a fine accompaniment to fruit- and nut-based desserts. The gently pressed grape juice is kept in refrigerated tanks until it is processed into the autoclave to obtain a sparkling wine by means of a fermentation at controlled temperature, using selected yeasts. 7.10% alcohol, with 95.20 g/l residual sugar.

Half dry and half blissfully sweet (but never cloying), this bubbly red is fragrant and fruity on the nose with black cherries and maraschinos. The bubbles are quite elegant and persistent on this number, ushering in a palate impression that is richly full bodied and harmonious. More full flavored and intense that other Ca Berti wines.

Bellini is a cocktail which, according to the original recipe, is composed of two parts of sparkling wine, one part of white peach juice (obtained from select, perfectly ripe peaches) and a few drops of wild raspberry. It is a classic aperitif, with an inebriating peach fragrance. Bellini, estate-bottled in clear, satin-finished glass bottles, is the result of the fruit drink processing technology perfected by Canella after many years of long and scrupulous research, which guarantees its naturalness. It is best enjoyed chilled.

This ruby red evanescent beauty is made with 85% lambrusco grasparossa and 15% fortana (locally known as the 'golden grape'). The nose is intense and persistent with vinous notes of fruits and flowers, recalling blackberries, cherries and plums. The palate is dry, light on the alcohol and soft, with good acid and low tannin. It is just plain delicious, folks!

Carpene Malvolti is one of the best known Prosecco producers. They make this intriguing Rosé from 85% Pinot Noir and 15% Raboso, a local red grape. It is very popular at L.A.'s "Mozza" restaurant, where folks regularly come away thinking it is a Prosecco Rosé. Since Prosecco is a white grape, it isn't possible to make a Prosecco Rosé! Nonetheless, the Brut is really delicious.

With a fine and persistent degree of bubble-ocity, this is soft and smooth on the palate with a biscuity nose that calls to mind fresh bread crumbs and notes of cassis and bitter almond, with a hint of toasted nuts. Very very dry on the palate (as is typical of those Italian sparkling wines labeled Nature), it offers structure and amazing elegance on the palate, not unlike a boutique Champagne! 90% Pinot Nero, 10% Chardonnay.
