Best after 2010."-(10/31/2008). 89 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tenuta di Castiglioni’s entry-level 2006 Tenuta di Castiglioni is 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Sangiovese and 21% Merlot that spent 12 months in French oak. 92 points Wine Enthusiast "Inspired by the Bordeaux tradition and made from a blend of Cabs Sauvignon and Franc, Burdese is a rich and perfumed wine with penetrating notes of blackberry, currants, tobacco and exotic spice. It is full bodied and concentrated without being overextracted thanks to its vibrant red fruit flavors, silky tannins and long finish." (02/08) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar "Inky, saturated red. Initially tight nose opens slowly to reveal cassis, cedar, sweet spices and minerals. Rich, uncommonly deep blackcurr... Read More »

95 points Wine Spectator: "Complex and dark, with blueberry, licorice and mahogany. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a fabulous core of fruit. Builds on you. Goes on for minutes. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petit Verdot. Best after 2013." (10/09). 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The estate's 2007 Sancta Catharina is a blend of Prugnolo Gentile, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot that was aged in French oak. In this vintage the wine is remarkably harmonious and well-balanced with no hard edges and terrific balance. The... Read More »

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Geremia is equally commanding in its stature and potential. This blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon spent 18 months in Allier oak barrels. It reveals awesome richness and depth with a level of juiciness and mid-palate generosity that the San Marcellino doesn't quite have. The wine remains extremely fresh and primary in its expression of dark macerated cherries, minerals, spices and sweet toasted oak. Despite its lushness, the wine also possesses considerable structure that begs for extended b... Read More »

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Ornellaia flows from the glass in a profound expression of ripe, dark fruit. With time in the glass layers of minerals, cassis, tar, sweet herbs and French oak emerge, adding further complexity. This harmonious Ornellaia combines the richness of the vintage with superb freshness and awesome balance. Today the wine’s sheer density almost manages to hide the tannins, but they are there, and the wine will ultimately benefit from a few years in the cellar. The 2006 Ornellaia is one of the highlights of this ... Read More »

93 points Wine Spectator: "Shows aromas of blackberry, dark chocolate and roasted coffee. Full-bodied, with velvety, almost chewy tannins and lots of rich fruit that finishes with a vanilla bean and coffee aftertaste. Rich and delicious, but should be better with a few years of bottle age. Sangiovese and Merlot. Best after 2011."-(10/15/2008)

94 points Wine Spectator: "Offers blackberry, toasty oak and milk chocolate aromas. Full-bodied, soft and velvety, with a long, rich finish. Concentrated and pretty. Layered and serious. The wine spent between 18-19 months in French oak (90% new) with frequent batonnage (stirring of the fine lees) and micro-oxygenation. 2 Red Glasses Gambero Rosso. According to the Wine Spectator: "Fresh and lively, with berry and citrus character. Medium- to full-bodied, with fine tannins and a clean finish. Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. Best after 2009. 790 cases made." (Web only, 2007) 60% cabernet sauvignon and 40% sangiovese. Italian Buyer Greg St. Clair says: "This is a powerful, rich and juicy wine. This isn't sweet Napa cab, it's dense and focused with layers of complexity, earth, sky, soil and grape-a symphony of masculinity. The sangiovese is a subtle overlay, a titanium... Read More »

97 points Wine Spectator: "Shows a very ripe nose, with rose, berry and hints of meat. Full-bodied and powerful, with chewy tannins and a long, long finish. Massive yet balanced. What a wine. The greatest Saffredi ever made. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Alicante. Better than previously reviewed. Best after 2012." (10/07) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Le Pupille's 2004 Saffredi is a remarkable wine, in fact the aromatics alone are worth the price of admission. This French oak-aged blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Alicante possesses s... Read More »

An unusual blend for this richly fruity pink wine, 70% merlot and 30% franconia, however the taste is anything but bizarre. Strawberries and spice mix with flowers and lots of refreshing acidity, which makes this the rose to wash down cheese-rich foods like ricotto-stuffed ravioli. Minerals and stone fruit make for a fascinating finish on this value-packed rosé.

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Geppetti has produced another gem in her 2006 Saffredi, a French-oak aged blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Alicante. This textured, explosive wine boasts considerable depth and richness in its dark fruit, flowers, minerals and graphite. The wine remains extremely primary and in need of considerable bottle age in order to offer its best drinking but it is unquestionably formidable. The style combines elements of power and elegance, achieving a level rarely seen in these parts. Simply put, this is stunning j... Read More »

According to the Wine Spectator: "A charmer that's supple, lush and silky, offering distinctive minty, red berry aromas and flavors and fresh character. Tuscany had good weather in 1970, yet this one tastes a touch diluted on the palate and finish.--Sassicaia vertical. Drink now." (07/96)

90 points Robert Parker: "The 2008 A Quo presents a heady array of super-ripe blueberries, blackberries, cassis, minerals and spices that come together in a luxurious, exotic style. There is plenty of round, harmonious fruit to provide outstanding balance, polish and length. The wine continued to open up nicely in the glass, gaining even greater focus and clarity. At this price point I would be a buyer?.by the case. The 2008 A Quo is 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Montepulciano, 20% Sangiovese, 10% Marselan and 10% Alicante Bouschet made from yields of less... Super-ripe red cherries, licorice and spices emerge in a style that shows tons of concentration while somehow avoiding any sense of heaviness. Nardo is impeccably balanced throughout and shows awesome harmony in its opulent yet well-defined aromas and flavors. Simply put, this is elegance personified. 91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Eneo shows remarkable detail, clarity and freshness in its red cherries, flowers, sweet tobacco and licorice. In 2007 Eneo is surprisingly open, perfumed and accessible, with a seamless quality that softens some of the linearity that the wine typically shows at this stage. The finish is best described as long, pure and exceptionally silky, with subtle nuances of sweet tobacco, earthiness and crushed flowers that linger on the palate.
