2007 is a superb vintage that yielded wines full of dense, ripe fruit that have made the critics jump out of their chairs! This wine is simply delicious, the vibrant focused sangiovese softened and tamed with a dab of fresh and fruity merlot = Fortunello!. Bursting with aromas of raspberries and cherries, it is chocolaty with a depth and lingering finish. Made from 90% sangiovese and 10% merlot power and drinkability. 99 points and #8 on the Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2009: "Shows excellent color and richness for a Sangiovese, with aromas of sultana, coffee, toasty oak and vanilla bean. Full-bodied, with masses of fruit and chewy tannins. The concentration and depth of fruit and layers of tannins leave me speechless. A blockbuster. Best after 2014." (10/09) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Flaccianello della Pieve (Sangiovese) is just as extraordinary as it was when I tasted it from barrel. This spectacularly ripe and concentrated wine reveals... Read More »

95 points and #13 on the Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2009: "Chocolate, blackberry and black cherry aromas lead to a full-bodied palate, with velvety tannins and a deep concentration of fruit. Powerfully rich and polished. Big and structured. Best after 2012." (10/09) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Fontalloro is much more sweet and open than the firmer Rancia. Enticing, expressive aromatics lead to an expansive core of fruit. Round, finessed tannins give the wine an additional level of polish. Today the Fontalloro is fleshier an... Read More »

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Geremia is equally commanding in its stature and potential. This blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon spent 18 months in Allier oak barrels. It reveals awesome richness and depth with a level of juiciness and mid-palate generosity that the San Marcellino doesn't quite have. The wine remains extremely fresh and primary in its expression of dark macerated cherries, minerals, spices and sweet toasted oak. Despite its lushness, the wine also possesses considerable structure that begs for extended b... Read More »

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Ornellaia flows from the glass in a profound expression of ripe, dark fruit. With time in the glass layers of minerals, cassis, tar, sweet herbs and French oak emerge, adding further complexity. This harmonious Ornellaia combines the richness of the vintage with superb freshness and awesome balance. Today the wine’s sheer density almost manages to hide the tannins, but they are there, and the wine will ultimately benefit from a few years in the cellar. The 2006 Ornellaia is one of the highlights of this ... Read More »

93 points Wine Spectator: "Shows aromas of blackberry, dark chocolate and roasted coffee. Full-bodied, with velvety, almost chewy tannins and lots of rich fruit that finishes with a vanilla bean and coffee aftertaste. Rich and delicious, but should be better with a few years of bottle age. Sangiovese and Merlot. Best after 2011."-(10/15/2008)

94 points Wine Spectator: "Offers blackberry, toasty oak and milk chocolate aromas. Full-bodied, soft and velvety, with a long, rich finish. Concentrated and pretty. Layered and serious. Best after 2011." (10/08) 91-94 points Robert Parker Wine Advocate: "In 2006 Giorgio Primo is 30% Merlot, 30% Sangiovese, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot. The wine spent between 18-19 months in French oak (90% new) with frequent batonnage (stirring of the fine lees) and micro-oxygenation. It is an authoritative, powerful wine imbued with the essence of plums... Read More »

2 Red Glasses Gambero Rosso. According to the Wine Spectator: "Fresh and lively, with berry and citrus character. Medium- to full-bodied, with fine tannins and a clean finish. Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. Best after 2009. 790 cases made." (Web only, 2007) 60% cabernet sauvignon and 40% sangiovese. Italian Buyer Greg St. Clair says: "This is a powerful, rich and juicy wine. This isn't sweet Napa cab, it's dense and focused with layers of complexity, earth, sky, soil and grape-a symphony of masculinity. The sangiovese is a subtle overlay, a titanium... Read More »

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate "At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the 2003 Camartina is a drop-dead gorgeous effort. Fat, rich and opulent, it will reward consumers with its generous super-ripe fruit, great length and beautiful overall balance. While it doesn’t look to be one of the more long-lived Camartinas, with some air it is drinking beautifully today. It is a very refined effort in this vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2018." (10/07) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Le Pupille's 2004 Saffredi is a remarkable wine, in fact the aromatics alone are worth the price of admission. (10/09) 92 points Robert Parker: "The 2006 Tignanello is especially opulent in this vintage. 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Geppetti has produced another gem in her 2006 Saffredi, a French-oak aged blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Alicante. This textured, explosive wine boasts considerable depth and richness in its dark fruit, flowers, minerals and graphite. The wine remains extremely primary and in need of considerable bottle age in order to offer its best drinking but it is unquestionably formidable. 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate "Antinori has turned out a very beautiful Tignanello in 2005. The wine possesses perfumed, well-articulated aromatics that meld into a soft, generous core of ripe red fruits. Smoke, mineral, tobacco and spice overtones develop in the glass with air. To be sure, this is a relatively slender Tignanello, and while it doesn’t have the qualities of the superb 2004, it does have the balance to age gracefully for the next decade or so. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020." 92 points Wine Spectator "Pretty and fresh aromas of ... Read More »

For the moment, the 2006 Aragone remains somewhat monolithic and in need of a year or two of bottle age. The wine should be splendid when it awakens. In 2007 Eneo is surprisingly open, perfumed and accessible, with a seamless quality that softens some of the linearity that the wine typically shows at this stage. The finish is best described as long, pure and exceptionally silky, with subtle nuances of sweet tobacco, earthiness and crushed flowers that linger on the palate.
