1995 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac $899.00
94 points Wine Enthusiast: "A nice surprise. Great density and richness with layers of dark fruit and spice. Thick concentration and a bold, confident presentation. Plush texture, length and density. Age 5-10 more years." (5/2012)93 points James Suckling: "Dark fruit, with roses, incense and nutmeg on the nose. Full-bodied, with velvety and rich tannins and a long and delicious finish. Coffee bean and cedar undertone. Better than 2006. Drink now or hold." (1/2012) K&L Notes: The first scent of this Brunello smells regal; there is a powerful statement of place and for Poggiarellino that is marasca cherry that wild and game... Read More »

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The NV Shebang IV bursts from the glass with masses of dark, plump fruit. This juicy, mouth-filling red delivers incredible quality for the money in an up-front generous style meant to be enjoyed over the next year or two. The main varieties are Petite Sirah, Syrah and Alicante Bouschet. If there is a better value in California wine, I would like to know about it. This is a ridiculously delicious wine for $12 a bottle. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2014. Morgan Twain-Peterson is one of the most impressive young winemakers I have ever met, and it's not jus... Read More »

Here is what schmancy Saveur magazine had to say about a previous vintage of Bernier's Chardonnay: "This value-priced chardonnay tastes crisp and bright. It comes from the western Loire Valley, an unexpected place for this Burgundy grape variety, and is made in a fresh, unoaked style, nothing like the famed (and costly) Burgundy crus. Though unconventional, it's delicious, with fruit flavors that echo pears and apples, and an enticing hint of minerality beneath the surface. It's also a steal at the price."

Wine Spectator: "Fresh and brisk, with good white peach and lemon zest notes. Drink now." (11/2011) K&L Notes: Do you like Sancerre? We think it's pretty good too. Do you like a wine which could rival Sancerre but at half the price? We would consider that a slam dunk! 60 year old organic vines planted in chalky soils, hand harvested, aged in stainless steel, bright mineral notes along with some citrus, honeydew and sweet herbs… Sounds like a description for a Sancerre, doesn't it? But, it's not! It's Jean-Francois Merieau's Sauvignon Blanc from just east of Tours in the Touraine. Thi... Read More »

90 points Wine Spectator: "This red shows good focus, with black currant, licorice, smoke and light herbal flavors that drive over the polished texture to the long, fresh finish. A bit grapey now, but has the balance and depth to age well." (11/2011)Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep ruby. Smoky cherry, tobacco, licorice and minerals on the vibrant nose. Juicy, bright and firm, with good freshness and thrust to the dark berry and bitter cherry flavors. Gentle tannins give grip and a slightly hard edge to the refreshingly bitter finish." Redcurrant and cherry aromas are complemented by dried rose, cedar and cracked pepper. Juicy and focused, with good depth to its red berry and bitter cherry flavors; picks up a smoky quality with air. Shows a touch of vanilla on the finish, which clings with good tenacity." Château Viranel is a small family run domaine located in the picturesque Languedoc appellation of Saint-Chinian. The domaine's rosé is perfect for an apéritif but is also ideal served throughout a meal because of its richness and volume on the palate. Pretty rose petal color. An intense nose of summer fruits (blackberry, raspberry, black currant) and a fresh and fruity attack. The finish is elegant and long. A truly gastronomic rosé from 40% Syrah, 40% Grenache Noir and 20% Cinsault, made by drawing off for Grenache and Syrah. It is an extremely versati... Read More »

Lots of anise, spice and tar frames the finish. Stéphane Derenoncourt consulting here. Best from 2012 through 2019." (10/2011) K&L Notes: The Blend for the 2009 Chateau Maison Blanche is 85% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc. Sancerre at half the price! The Fournier family, with roots as deep as their vines in this region, seem to be related to just about everyone in some way. They've been farming and producing wines in Sancerre for generations. We are pleased to have been offered this wine, yet again, at such a great price. Soft, subtle mineral notes are wrapped up in aromatics of melon and citrus. Clean, bright and refreshing, this is a perfect little Sauvignon Blanc to enjoy while having a lite lunch in the afternoon sun or getting your evening kicked off.

From some of the top sites in the Kamptal. Michaela Haas is the 4th generation of this family to run the 23 ha domaine. Fermented and aged in stainless steel and bottled with a crown cap, this is the perfect liter - fresh, light and snappy; delivering all the thirst quenching qualities you look for in a wine like this. The nose is textbook Gruner Veltliner filled with spice and pepper, snap pea and grapefruit. It is sleek, focused and juicy owing to the wonderful bright acid structure of the 2011 vintage.

We are directly importing several spectacular wines from a tiny domaine in the hills of Mâcon in a town called Vergisson. Denis Barraud has a tiny estate called Domaine des Nembrets. This Mâcon comes from his estate vineyards on the slopes of the Roche de Vergisson, a giant basalt monolith, surrounded by complex and folded rocky, well-drained soils with limestone outcroppings. Depending on the soil geology, a vineyard might be St. Veran, Pouilly Fuissé, or just Mâcon. But all are hand-picked, artisanal wines from one of the emerging talents in this part... Read More »

90-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of equal parts Grenache and Syrah, the 2009 Perrin et Fils Cotes du Rhone Villages Vinsobres Les Cornuds reveals abundant aromas of crushed rocks, spring flowers and blue as well as black fruits in its darker, more cool climate style. It is completely different from the Grenache-dominated wines from the warmer climates of Cairanne, Rasteau, Vacqueyras or Gigondas. It has just the right balance between acidity and bright fruit, leaving a textured aftertaste." (12/2011) K&L Notes: This delightful Rosé sparkling wine comes from Burgundy. It is made of 80% Pinot Noir, and 20% Gamay Noir.
