2002 Torbreck "Run Rig" Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2002 Torbreck "Run Rig" Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia (99RP, 95JH, 94ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Extraordinarily opulent and rich, but playing it closer to the vest than the 2001, it gets my nod as one of the most remarkable wines made in either the Southern or Northern Hemisphere. An inky/purple color is accompanied by a sumptuous bouquet of apricots, honeysuckle, black raspberries, blackberries, licorice, and a hint of roasted meats. The wood has been soaked up by the wine’s extraordinary concentration....Anticipated maturity: 2007-2020+. " (10/2005)

Full-bodied with a taut and muscular frame defined by firm grainy tannins, it is still very youthful and offers fresh, crisp acid that retains nice vibrancy through the long finish. 2003 Torbreck "Run Rig" Shiraz Barossa Valley
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2003 Torbreck "Run Rig" Shiraz Barossa Valley (99RP, 96JH, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The estate’s flagship cuvee is the virtually perfect 2003 Run Rig. Made from 8 separate Barossa vineyards (ranging in age from 94 to 158 years), it is primarily Shiraz with 4-5% co-fermented Viognier included in the blend. The wine was aged in French oak of which 60% is new. The sensational, inky/purple-tinged 2003 exhibits a stunningly sweet nose of blackberries, blueberries, litchi nuts, smoked meats, and a hint of apricots. Elegant yet super-powerful, rich, concentrated, and long, it is a tour de force in winemaking as well as a modern classic example of Barossa Shiraz. It should drink well for 20-25 years. 2002 Kilikanoon "Oracle" Shiraz Clare Valley South Australia
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2002 Kilikanoon "Oracle" Shiraz Clare Valley South Australia (97RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "...has gotten even better with an additional year of bottle age. From the Clare Valley (a slightly cooler climate region), it spent 24 months in 100% French oak (50% new), and was bottled unfined and unfiltered. Its inky/purple color is accompanied by sumptuous aromas of graphite, blueberries, blackberries, cassis, and subtle oak. There is great fruit on the attack, full body, wonderful elegance, precision, and purity, tremendous length and persistence, sweet tannin, and good acidity that provides definition to this majestic wine’s amply endowed components. Give it another 2-3 years of bottle age, and drink it over the following two decades. This is one of the most brilliantly run wineries in Australia, and the quality of the entire portfolio is impressive thanks to the enviable talents of winemaker Kevin Mitchell ... also one of South Australia’s 'good

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Standish "The Relic" Shiraz-Viognier Barossa Valley South Australia (99RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "More exotic and flamboyant than the Shiraz, but equally profound is the 2004 Shiraz/Viognier The Relic (93% and 7% respectively, cropped at .5 tons of fruit per acre, and aged 20 months in old French oak). An inky/purple-colored, powerful, full-bodied, rich red, it possesses a huge, sweet nose of blue and black fruits, flowers, and subtle oak, a blockbuster mid-section, and an amazingly long finish. More approachable than the 2003 Shiraz, it can be drunk now or cellared for 15 or more years. Dan Standish is one of the Barossa’s up-and-coming superstars, and his wines merit serious attention. Dense, with remarkable intensity and wonderful freshness, it is a cool climate Barossa Shiraz with good acidity, enormous concentration, and a backward style that promises to be ethereal with 4-5 more years of bottle age.
