2010 Acumen "Mountainside" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Acumen is a new Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that is going to become one of the valley's best producers in the near future. Here's a chance to taste it before most Napa Cabernet fans even hear about it. The winery has worked with us to get our customers a great price on this wine, as they work to get exposure to CA's fine wine audience via K&L. Acumen comes from a 116-acre vineyard in the Atlas Peak AVA which includes the Jan Krupp old home estate next to the Stagecoach vineyard. 2010 Amici Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "This classic Napa Cabernet (with a splash of Petit Verdot) is elegant, streamlined and absolutely lovely to drink now. It’s dry and balanced in acidity and tannins, and has rich layers of cassis, mocha, plums and toast." (2/2014)90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The deep ruby/plum/purple-tinged 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa offers notes of cassis, blueberries, graphite and toasty vanillin. A nicely proportioned, medium to full-bodied, seriously endowed, elegant, restrained wine with admirable purity, it can be drunk now or cellared for 10-15 years. 2010 "II" by Alpha Omega Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend Back In Stock!
2010 "II" by Alpha Omega Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

From the producer: "II is the culmination of the two worlds, the Alpha and the Omega, the Old World and the New World. Our two winemakers, Jean Hoefliger and Michel Rolland, worked to create a wine that is not only opulent, fruit forward and generous, but also has the backbone of European acidity and elegance. A reflection of both worlds. II is a wine that is built to be approachable, both in taste and price, and consumed early."

2010 Keenan Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (Previously $48.00)

92 points Wine & Spirits: "Tarry and austere on the surface, this is packed with purple berry fruit and purple plum richness. Dusty tannins keep the fruit’s generosity in check, finishing tight and coal-black. Built to cellar, this wine’s earthiness will develop complexity with age." (6/2014)91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon is laced with an exciting melange of black cherries, incense, tobacco, mocha, graphite and dried flowers. Rich and decadent, this deep ruby Cabernet Sauvignon displays gorgeous aromas of ripe blackberries and black cherries with notes of fresh mint, cocoa, vanilla and nutmeg. 2010 Beaulieu Vineyard "Georges de Latour" Private Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Top Pick!
2010 Beaulieu Vineyard "Georges de Latour" Private Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

94 points Antonio Galloni: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Georges de Latour Private Reserve is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty. Freshly cut flowers, mint, spices, licorice and graphite all burst from the glass as the 2010 shows off its personality. While some of Beaulieu's 2010s are ripe and flashy, the Georges de Latour is wonderfully fresh and alive in the glass, not to mention absolutely classic in feel. Graphite, violets and pencil shavings linger on the close. The 2010 has captured every bit of the potential I sensed last year." 2010 Groth "Reserve" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

It is a dry, deeply flavored, superbly structured wine, rich in tannins, with brooding depths of flavors ranging from black currants, cassis and licorice to hints of dried herbs and sweet, toasty cedar wood. The alcohol is on the high side, in the modern Napa style, but the wine wears its heat well. Start drinking it after 2018." 93 points Antonio Galloni: "Grilled herbs, tobacco, menthol, licorice and plums all take shape in the 2010 Eloge. Rich, layered and expressive, the 2010 is resonant and deeply expressive throughout. Gently spiced notes appear on the finish, adding dimensions of complexity and nuance. Today the 2010 is a bit closed in on itself and a touch compact, while the aromatics aren't quite as precise as they could be. I was deeply impressed with the wines I tasted at Conn Valley this year. The CCOF organically certified vineyard in Oakville has been the flagship bottling of Heitz since 1966. 2010 Robert Sinskey "POV" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

Robert Sinskey's POV is a Bordeaux-style blend from Los Carneros, on the southerly reach of Napa Valley, by the San Pablo portion of the San Francisco Bay--better known for Pinot Noir. For the style that he's going for, Sinskey can make it work: "Each year provides new parameters that are ultimately reflected in the character of the wine. 2010 Duckhorn "The Discussion" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

This kind of "discussion" is still going on in wine country: varietal wines, or blends? Some thirty years ago, the Duckhorns chose to focus on varietals, but this blend of mainly estate-grown Cab and Merlot, with a bit of Petit Verdot in tow, represents the winemaker's best lots of the vintage.

2010 Cain "Five" Spring Mountain District Bordeaux Blend

In basic terms, Cain "Five" is just that: the estate's top blend of Bordeaux varietals, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. The exact percentages of each are listed on the label, but that, as winemaker Chris Howell will tell you, does not explain anything. While it may seem like everybody talks a big game about their terroir, a lot of wineries are playing the point-score game, too, with heavily extracted wines from late-harvested grapes--a scene that Cain has quietly excused itself from--although James Suckling found his ... That’s exactly what you get, an inky wine, it’s huge on the palate with blackberries, currants and dark chocolate, augmented by plenty of new French oak. 2010 Abreu "Thorevilos" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

98 points Antonio Galloni: "The 2010 Thorevilos is insanely beautiful from the very first taste. Massive tannins give way to a deeply expressive, resonant dark red fruit, graphite, wild flowers and new leather. The Thorevilos is the most reticent of the 2010s here. As such it will require considerable patience. Readers who are fortunate enough to find the wine, though, should not hesitate. I imagine a bottle opened before its tenth birthday will be largely an academic excercise. I hope to have the patience to follow my own advice, but it is going to be tough! Although you won't see much critical acclaim for Cain wines, since this remote, mountain winery stopped sending out for review in the early 2000s, the previously released 2009 Cain Concept caught the attention of critic James Suckling, who gave it 95 points and an enthusiastic review: "A generous, sexy wine with an abundance of subtle red fruits and mushrooms." Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasting the three most recent vintages of the Scarecrow Cabernet Sauvignon was not only a privilege, but also an intellectual and hedonistic turn-on. The 2010 Scarecrow Cabernet Sauvignon (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) is a magnificent wine. Full-bodied and opulent with terrific purity, an intriguing, gravelly, wet stone-like minerality, and a sensational perfume, it has a spectacular finish that lasted over 45 seconds, offering up copious quantities of black currants, black cherries, cedar and vanillin. It is one of the superstars of the vintage. It is accessible now because of the sweetness of the tannins, but make no mistake, there is plenty of structure underlying the luxurious fruit levels. Exceptionally full-bodied with sweet tannin, surreal richness and remarkable purity as well as delineation, this pushes ripeness and intensity to nearly over-the-top levels, but it pulls back to simply create a wine of genius. 88-90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good bright red. Perfumed, rather cool aromas of cassis, menthol, fresh herbs, flowers, anise and fennel. Juicy, spicy and tight but not hard, with a pungent core of acidity and an impression of briary, earthy minerality giving the wine plenty of personality. This firmly tannic cabernet smells a bit raw in the way of a young barrel sample. "Not the sun-baked fruit of 2009," noted assistant winemaker Crafton. "It was hard to get superripeness in 2010."" (5/2012) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon is an attractive, supple wine made from 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, ...Read More »

2010 Malk Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Cellar Selection* This 100% Cab wants some time in the cellar. Right now, it’s fresh and powerful in black cherries, currants, licorice, mocha and sweet toasty oak, with firm tannins and a streak of citrusy acidity. A masculine wine, brooding and aloof, it needs at least 6-8 years in a good cellar to begin to come around." (11/2013)90 points Connoisseurs Guide: "*One Star* Generous and rich at every turn, and a touch on the ripe side for some palates as the result, this outgoing effort builds from first aromas of ripe black cherries, a whiff of currant and a minerally, graphitey note ...Read More »

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Mernet Reserve, an equal part blend of Estate Merlot, Carneros Merlot, Estate Cabernet Franc and Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, offers up scents of cedarwood, underbrush, forest floor, black currants, sweet kirsch and cola. The complex, evolved aromatics are followed by a medium-bodied wine with beautiful fruit purity, an attractive texture, and a long finish. Consume this superb, complex 2010 over the next 10-15 years." (10/2013)93 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Cellar Selection* Few wines, even in Napa, are this rich. It dazzles with explosive cherries, blackberries and anise, wit ...Read More »

2010 Trinchero "Cloud's Nest" Mount Veeder Napa Cabernet Sauvignon

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Ash, tar, smoke, incense and grilled herbs burst from the glass as the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Cloud’s Nest shows off its superb pedigree and class. The Cloud’s Nest captures the purest essence of Mt. Veeder in its inky black fruit, savory herbs, pencil shavings and flowers. The tannins are firm, but also well integrated. This large scaled Cabernet Sauvignon will test readers’ patience, but it is superb. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2030. Antonio Galloni" (12/2012)90 points Wine & Spirits: "This foresty Mt. Veeder cabernet is brisk with scents of persimmon, pine and violets. The tann ...Read More »
