From the importer: "Fabio [Marchioni] makes less than four thousand cases of Verdicchio, which he used to bottle, cork and label by hand in his tiny cantina (now he's sprung for a bottling machine). The romance isn't the point, though; the point is that this wine is racy, vivid, and excellent with all kinds of seafood dishes. It is fermented and matured entirely in stainless steel (no oak) and does not undergo malolactic fermentation. Use it like you might use a Sauvignon Blanc, because Verdicchio has some of the same herbal aroma and flavor as Sauvignon... Read More »
Azienda Agricola Barone Cornacchia was esablished in 1577. Now organically farmed from stony calcareous soils, this 100% Montepulciano d’Abruzzo displays a deep ruby color with a perfumed and plummy bouquet. The rounded and intense palate shows persistence and fine tannins, and should pair well with grilled meats, pasta, and hard cheese.
Wine Enthusiast: "Made with organic grapes, this fruity blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Canaiolo/Colorino begins with aromas of ripe red berries, spice and espresso. The dense palate delivers fleshy black cherry, black pepper and balsamic herbs supported by youthfully aggressive, chewy tannins. Drink 2015-2020." (4/2014)
Organically grown Nero d'Avola that's fresh, fruit-filled and affordable. A touch of bay leaf and mint complements the volcanic soil, sweet red fruit and peppery spice on this wine's nose and palate. Delicious!
Poderi San Lazzaro is a 15 hectare, organically-farmed estate in the Marche, located between the Apennine Mountains and the Adriatic Sea. This lovely and wonderfully affordable Sangiovese shows hints of smoke to complement the floral, cherry-inflected nose. The fruit is clean on the palate, which is medium-bodied, with good acidity, soft tannins and a vein of minerality. Great for pasta night.
95 points James Suckling: "Aromas and flavors of dried meat, plums and prunes. Full body, silky tannins and a fresh and clean finish. Polished and sexy. A little tight now so better in 2017 when it opens a little." (1/2015)94 points Antonio Galloni: "he 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is in no mood to show all its cards today. This is a decidedly dark, brooding Brunello for Poggio di Sotto. In 2010, the fruit is quite dark, which suggests a late harvest, perhaps pushed to the limit. At the same time, there is plenty of underlying structure and tannin. This is going to be a fascinating Brunello to follow over the ...Read More »

Wine Enthusiast: "Here’s a cheerful Prosecco Brut (in bright green packaging) with distant aromas of stone fruit, melon, kiwi and white stone. It offers creamy foam and a soft approach on the palate followed by lively acidity." (7/2009) K&L Notes: Franceso Drusian is the third generation of his family to make wine from the Prosecco grape, but the first to make sparkling Prosecco, which he has been doing since 1986. He cares for his vineyards in Conegliano and Valdobbiadene biodynamically, and this comes through in his wines. This Prosecco shimmers in the glass, casting glints of gold ... Read More »
