Impressive for its purity and refreshing mineral qualities, Valle dell'Acate takes the Inzolia varietal to a whole new level of quality. As a second label, the Case Ibidini range (pronounced 'bidini) consists of varietally labeled wines from the estate intended for more casual consumption. The local name of the area where the estate is situated, Bidini, is drawn from the ancient root Bidis. 91 points James Suckling: "This shows aromas of blueberry, forest fruit and salt. Medium to full body, bright acidity and a mineral finish. Goes on for minutes. Tangy and savory. Drink now." (10/2014) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Vittoria Frappato Il Frappato is an excellent drinking choice. The Il Frappato line is one of my favorite expression of this Sicilian grape and I always keep a few bottles at home for informal drinking occasions. Raspberry, white cherry and almond paste compete for your attention and provide a lively and cheerful bouquet. Balsam herb and white chocolate make for interesting ba ...Read More »

NEROIBLEO is a warm, solar red, with the striking characteristics of wine produced from the renown Nero'd'Avola, the Sicilian grape variety which has been cultivated for centuries on Mount Iblea in the province of Ragusa.
Organically grown Nero d'Avola that's fresh, fruit-filled and affordable. A touch of bay leaf and mint complements the volcanic soil, sweet red fruit and peppery spice on this wine's nose and palate. Delicious!
90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Etna Rosso Rossodiverzella is a classic blend of Etna red grapes consisting of 80% Nerello Mascalese and 20% Nerello Cappuccio. Some ten months in medium-toast barrique leave a sure mark, and this expression is rounder and richer than many of its peers. Fruit is sourced from the northern face of the volcano in the Contrada Verzella at 600 to 650 meters above sea level. Ripe cherry and fresh prune segue to light spice and leather. A bright point of freshness keeps it lively and pure. Drink 2014-2020. Benanti has led efforts to raise Etna to the w ...Read More »

93 points James Suckling: "Amazing aromas of flowers, spices and dried strawberries. Full body, with super fine tannins and a firm linear line to the wine. Lightly chewy. Very long. Classy. From Etna fruit, mostly Nerello Mascalese. Better in 2013." (11/2011)

Paolo Calì is a pharmacist who began making wine in 2003. In the hot climate of southerneastern Sicily, Calì's grows Nero D'Avola and Frappato in the island's only DOCG, Cerasuola di Vittoria. His Frappato is fresh and aromatic, with notes of strawberries, lavender, and orange zest. He ferments in stainless steel to preserve the brightness of the grape. This wine is a boon companion to any summer picnic--put a slight chill on it and serve it with prosciutto, fried chicken, or pizza.
92 points Wine Spectator: "Fresh and expressive up front, where pure black cherry and wild strawberry notes are layered with dried herb, star anise and smoky mineral accents. This elegant red displays good drive through to the lingering, lightly chewy finish. Drink now through 2024. 40 cases imported." (6/2014)
