2006 Baron Fuente "Grand Millésimé" Brut Champagne Top Pick!
2006 Baron Fuente "Grand Millésimé" Brut Champagne

91 points Wine Spectator: "Firm and focused, this structured version offers a well-meshed range of dried apricot, almond biscotti and cassis flavors, showing a clean chalkiness to the texture. Drink now through 2026." (3/2014) K&L Notes: Baron Fuente is a négociant that owns almost 90 acres of vines and purchases another 90 acres "sur pied," meaning that they pick the grapes. This is an important distinction since many négociants buy "sur lattes," meaning in bottle! The Grand Millésimé is a blend of 45% Chardonnay, 40% Meunier and 15% Pinot Noir that spent more than five years on the lees. -Ga... Read More »

2006 Louis Roederer "Cristal" Brut Champagne Top Pick!
2006 Louis Roederer "Cristal" Brut Champagne

97 points James Suckling: "Deep pinot-driven presence is the first and lasting impression. Power with control. Superfine bead, bread and spiced biscuits, candied ripe red fruits and a sense of tight-knit complexity. Some grapefruit, lemon pith & gently flinty notes too - impressive nose. In the mouth it is rich, powerful, mouth-filling and flavoursome with a core of the same biscuity red fruit flavour, savoury nutty notes and a wrap of assertive, persistent acidity that holds rich powerful flavour deep and focused whilst maintaining a polished, gently creamy texture. Long chalky b ...Read More »

2006 Fluteau "Symbiose" Brut Champagne Top Pick!
2006 Fluteau "Symbiose" Brut Champagne

Made entirely from estate-grown fruit, the Symbiose is composed of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir from Gye-Sur-Seine in the southernmost part of Champagne. This wine is so clean, subtle and balanced that it will be finished before you know it. I think that is embodies all the best traits of this very good vintage; it is vibrant, pure and best of all, classically styled Champagne. I plan on putting a case in the cellar for myself! 2006 Drappier "Grande Sendrée" Brut Champagne

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This vintage of Drappier’s top cuvée is showing signs of delicious maturity. With tropical fruits morphing into toast and ripe almonds, it’s a wine on the cusp of greatness. For now, there is still plenty of freshness there, tight acidity and the ripe character that’s typical of Champagnes from the Aube." (12/2014)93 points Wine Spectator: "A thread of ground spice and graphite weaves through the notes of peach, white cherry, biscuit and spun honey in this elegant version. Fresh and harmonious, with beautiful texture to the mousse, carrying the flavors to the long finish." (12/2014) ...Read More »

2006 Piper-Heidsieck Brut Champagne

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This rich and creamy vintage wine boasts soft apples, fresh acidity and a fine, tight texture. There’s just a hint of toast to round out the palate and add complexity. It could improve with age further, so drink through 2020." (12/2013)92 points Wine Spectator: "A refined version, with a rich, toasty base, this carries flavors of brioche, pureed blackberry, graphite, candied lemon zest and fresh ginger on a fine and creamy mousse, followed by a lasting, spiced finish. Drink now through 2026." (12/2014)91 points Wine & Spirits: "Régis Camus found the pinot noir of 2006 particularly intense, so he increased the ...Read More »

2006 Pol Roger Brut Rosé Champagne

93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright orange-pink. Displays intense aromas of fresh red berries, orange pith, buttered toast and smoky minerals, with a suave floral nuance in the background. Fleshy and seamless on the palate, offering sappy strawberry and blood orange flavors that expand and gain sweetness with air. Closes spicy, smoky and long, with excellent clarity and no rough edges." (12/2014)93 points Wine Enthusiast: "With its mature orange, onion skin color, this is a soft, toasty wine. It is losing fruit and gaining a wide range of mature flavors while keeping tight acidity. The wine tastes drier than pr ...Read More »

2006 Louis Roederer Brut Nature Champagne

Jancis Robinson: "Very firm and rather unyielding initially on the nose. Textured on the palate and pretty austere initially. This is not a champagne to drink thoughtlessly as an aperitif or at a reception. This is a serious statement that demands food. The mousse is notably gentle and the whole is impressively persistent. Very dry indeed though not aggressively tart by any means. Then it seems much more substantial after a mouthful of smoked salmon on blini. And after some jamon iberico it was a revelation." (9/2014) Wine Spectator: "It’s graceful and ethereal in style, with beautiful ...Read More »

2006 Laurent-Perrier Brut Champagne

2006 Moët & Chandon "Grand Vintage" Brut Champagne

92 points Antonio Galloni: "Moët's 2006 Brut Grand Vintage is beautiful, finessed and expressive. Smoke, slate, apricot and pastry notes emerge as the wine gradually unfolds. Rich and textured on the palate, yet beautifully supported by veins of minerality, the 2006 is simply impeccable from the very first taste. The richer, honeyed notes typical of Chardonnay in this vintage are particularly evident today while the Meunier, which has higher acidity, keeps things bright, although it plays a lesser part in the overall blend than in years past. The 2006 is 42% Chardonnay, 39% Pinot N ...Read More »

2006 Louis Roederer "Cristal" Brut Rosé Champagne

95 points Wine Spectator: "Still so fresh, this is fruity, yes, but it has such a depth of flavor with its red fruits the starting point for an adventure in tastes and textures. Produced from Roederer’s own vineyards, it is ready to drink, although it will age in bottle for many years." (12/2014)
