Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Ridge Santa Cruz Mountains Tasting Lot, including 2-bottles of 2009 Ridge "Perrone - Monte Bello Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Franc, 2-bottles of 2009 Ridge "Klein" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (94RP), and 2-bottles of 2009 Ridge Vineyards "Torre Ranch - Monte Bello Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Merlot (93RP). Of the 2009 Ridge "Klein" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Ridge’s 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Klein wraps around the palate with dark red cherries, anise, flowers and grilled herbs. This is an attractive, fleshy Cabernet with plenty of vibrant fruit. Interestingly, the Klein Cabernet shows quite a bit more varietal nuance than the Merlot, which is also from Jimsomare ranch. Compared to the Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, the Klein has more structure and less immediate appeal, although that won’t be much of an issue in the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2029. Black fruits, licorice, gun metal and minerals on the nose, along with a hint of tobacco leaf. Very firm, dry and penetrating, with pure, nicely defined flavors of dark berries, bitter chocolate and licorice. 2002 Spottswoode "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2002 Spottswoode "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (99RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon is a glorious example of elegance combined with power, purity and richness. A compelling wine in all senses, it reveals a haunting bouquet of acacia flowers, raspberries, blueberries, black currants, graphite and pen ink. The sweetness of the tannins and medium to full-bodied, extraordinarily poised and breathtaking mouthfeel that builds incrementally is all about nobility and balance. It is an honor to taste this special wine. Drink it over the next 20-25 years. As I have always said, if there is a Chateau Margaux to be found in Napa Valley, it is Beth and Mary Novak’s iconic Spottswoode winery, situated on the back streets of St. Helena. (RP)" (06/2012)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The terrific 1999 (a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot) possesses a murky purple color as well as a sweet nose of vanilla, Asian spices, licorice, and blackberry/currant fruit. The wine is full-bodied, dense, and chewy, with moderately high tannin. This large-scaled, pure red will handsomely repay cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2020+." (08/2002)

This wine needs 3-4 years of bottle age, and should last 25-30 years. (RP)" (12/2007)

Of the 2007 Copain "Kiser En Haut" Anderson Valley Pinot Noir,Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Deep red. Powerful aromas of red berries and cherry skin are complicated by anise and dried rose nuances. Nervy raspberry and bitter cherry flavors show impressive depth, with silky tannins giving shape to the wine. A tangy note of blood orange comes up with air and carries through the long, impressively energetic finish. Guthrie told me that the pH is 3.28, which is extremely low for a New World Pinot and similar to some of the most energetic versions from New Zealand." (05/2009)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Bedrock Wine Company "Heirloom" Sonoma Valley Red Wine (92RP, 91ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Bedrock Heirloom Wine Bedrock Vineyard is a hugely intriguing wine made from a blend of 60% Zinfandel, 25% Carignane and 15% comprised of 22 varieties that are interspersed throughout the vineyard. Dark black cherries, plums, graphite, mint, wild herbs and licorice are woven together in this gorgeous, finely sculpted wine. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Lucia "Garys' Vineyard" Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir (95RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The outrageously sumptuous, complex 2007 Pinot Noir Garys’ Vineyard is a compelling example of Pinot Noir from the Santa Lucia Highlands. Ten to twelve percent whole clusters were used during fermentation, and the wine was aged in 50% new oak. Sumptuous aromas of kirsch, black raspberries, fresh mushrooms, and forest floor are very Burgundian as well as intense. In the mouth, the wine is full and beautifully concentrated with silky tannins and a long finish. (RP)" (08/2009)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2010 Paul Lato "Atticus - John Sebastiano Vineyard" Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir (93RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A larger-scaled style of Pinot emerges in the 2010 Pinot Noir Atticus John Sebastiano Vineyard. This is a distinctly big, fruit-driven Pinot long on style and personality. The yields are extremely low in this site, and while the wine has fabulous concentration, it also lacks the finesse of the best wines in the lineup. Today, my impression is that the Atticus needs time to settle down a touch, although it will always retain some of its pure and, at times, rough-around-the-edges, enthusiasm. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. (AG)" (08/2012)

This Pinot Noir is in a special place right now and comes from what is considered the best parcel in the Melville Vineyards. There are 435 cases of it. It should drink well for up to a decade. Musky aromas of chamomile, pear skin, anise and iodine, with suave floral and gingerbread notes emerging with aeration. Juicy and broad on entry, then a bit tighter in the middle, offering densely packed orchard fruit flavors and notes of smoke and honeysuckle. More powerful than the Horseshoe but no less animated. This complex and tactile chardonnay boasts an intriguing interplay of ripe fruit and energetic spices. Finishes on a gently smoky note, with excellent persistence." (06/2011)

Of the 2007 Radio-Coteau "Cherry Camp" Sonoma Coast Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The blockbuster 2007 Syrah Cherry Camp boasts an opaque purple color along with a big, sweet kiss of creme de cassis, blackberry liqueur, spring flowers, and forest floor. Complex, extravagantly rich, opulent, and flamboyant, this superb Syrah should drink well for 8-10 years. An artisanal winery run with meticulous attention to detail by Eric Sussman, Radio-Coteau continues to follow a fair pricing strategy for its high quality Chardonnays, Pinot Noirs, Syrahs, and Zinfandels. Has the intensity of material to wear its 100% new oak gracefully. Carrying a low 3.25 pH and moderate alcohol of 13.5%. Of the 2011 Big Basin "Lester Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir,Wine & Spirits writes: "Planted in 1998, Lester Family is a relatively low-elevation site for the Santa Cruz Mountains, the vines rooted in sandy loam over sandstone and shale at just above 500 feet near Corralitos, on the southern flank of the range. Bradley Brown ferments a portion of the fruit with whole clusters (30 percent), which contribute a wild earthiness to the aromas, suggesting gentian root, cumin and pink peppercorn. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Sine Qua Non "Stockholm Syndrome" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah (100RP, 97AG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Syrah Stockholm Syndrome is a monumental effort that will stand toe-to-toe with the greatest Syrahs in the world. A blend of 96% Syrah, 3% Roussanne and 1% Viognier, it was fermented with 16% whole cluster before spending just under 42 months in 100% new French oak. It offers an incredible array of sweet dark fruits, cassis, white chocolate, licorice and hints of bacon fat that meld perfectly with its full-bodied, seamless, layered and impeccably put-together palate. Given the wealth of fruit here, it’s amazing how this stays light, graceful and elegant, without ever seeming over the top in any way. As with many prodigious wines, the extraordinary freshness, purity, equilibrium, and singularity of this effort is breathtaking. Its dense purple color is accompanied by an extraordinary, incredibly pure, all enveloping, intense, sweet nose of black raspberries, kirsch, spring flowers, spice box, and pepper. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As good as the Cuvée Catherine is, there is another Occidental Pinot that is profound. There are 2,000 cases of the 2012 Pinot Noir Bodega Headlands Cuvée Elizabeth. This wine reminded me of my earlier days in Burgundy tasting the Grand Cru Musigny. Incredible floral notes, sweet raspberries and blueberries as well as wet rocks soar from the glass of this profound, medium to full-bodied, gorgeous Pinot Noir made from 100% Calera clone. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 Schrader "Beckstoffer To Kalon, RBS" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (98RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard RBS, which is also from Clone 337 but from different blocks on the Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard, saw oak with 90% new Darnajou and 10% new Taransaud. This wine seems slightly more expansive, shares the black ruby/purple color with all of it siblings, and has a boatload of crème de cassis, incense, licorice, graphite and vanilla along with plenty of spice box and forest floor. This is a killer, full-bodied, super-duper, opulent Cabernet Sauvignon to drink over the next 20 years. (RP)" (10/2014)

Cloves, dark plums, cherries, smoke and graphite add richness and resonance to this powerful, incisive wine. Juicy and exuberant, the 2009 has always had a certain raciness that is impossible to resist. Layers of fruit continue to build to the enveloping, sensual finish. 2012 Aubert "UV-SL Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 Aubert "UV-SL Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (95AG). Antonio Galloni: "The 2012 Pinot Noir UV-SL Vineyard is the most complete of these Pinots. It is also by far the most intense. Dark red cherry, plum, spice and menthol notes all take shape in the glass. The style is broad, ample and super-ripe. Amazingly, with time in the glass, the wine comes together very nicely, but it really does need a lot of time. A juicy, boisterous finish rounds things out. The UV-SL is the Pinot that most clearly defines Mark Aubert's deeply personal approach to Pinot Noir." (02/2014)

2012 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (97RP, 94AG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are 1,580 cases of the 2012 James Berry Vineyard and it reminds me of the 2009 Janasse Chaupin (which is one of Justin’s favorite wines). Incorporating more Mourvedre than normal, it’s made from 43% Grenache, 29% Mourvedre, 18% Syrah and 10% Counoise that’s aged in a combination of concrete and barrel. Rock star stuff, with fabulous black raspberry, cassis, spring flowers and charred meat aromas and flavors, this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness and depth, yet stays lively, incredibly pure and elegant, with lots of fine tannin emerging on the finish. It will benefit from 2-3 years in the cellar and have 15-20 years of ultimate longevity. (JD)" (08/2014)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2010 Rhys "Horseshoe Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay (94AG, 94ST, 92RP, 90WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Green-tinged gold. Complex, highly fragrant aromas of peach pit, melon and candied orange, with intense mineral and iodine qualities gaining power with air. Sappy and expansive, offering vibrant pit fruit, pear and anise flavors lifted by zesty minerality. Rich but lithe and stony, finishing with excellent clarity and a persistent note of bitter citrus pith. I was strongly reminded of a serious Chablis." (05/2012)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2001 Cardinale Napa-Sonoma Bordeaux Blend (95RP, 93ST). Veeder, Keyes on Howell Mountain, Alexander Mountain Estate as well as purchased fruit from the Stagecoach, To-Kalon and Peter Michael vineyards. The wine reveals a saturated ruby/purple color as well as broad, expansive flavors of cassis, camphor, forest floor, truffles and earth. Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2009 Bedrock Wine Company "Dolinsek Ranch Heirloom" Russian River Valley Red Wine ((92-94RP), 92ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Three barrel samples tasted included the 2009 Dolinsek Ranch Heirloom, an unusual combination of 60% Zinfandel and the rest Charbono, Petite Sirah, Alicante and a few other varietals. No shy wine at 16.2% alcohol, it is a dense, savory, delicious red that is loaded with roasted meat, spicy pepper and red as well as black fruit characteristics and cuts an unctuous, juicy, thick swath across the palate. Candied aromas of quince, orange and honey. Honey and butterscotch flavors suggest a bit of botrytis, but a firm spine of acidity keeps the wine from cloying. This rounded out nicely with time in the glass.
