2006 Pierre Usseglio "Mon Aïeul" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2006 Pierre Usseglio "Mon Aïeul" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (96RP, 94WS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A star of the vintage is the 2006 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee Mon Aïeul. It is hard to believe how great this wine has turned out to be. I called it last year, and I’m thrilled to see how utterly profound it is. Essentially very old vine Grenache from three different terroirs (the sands of Les Serres, the clay of Guignasse, and the limestone of La Crau), aged 80% in cement tanks and 20% in old barrels, it boasts a dense plum/purple color followed by a glorious bouquet of black cherries, blackberries, truffles, lavender, licorice, and spring flowers. The color is one of the darkest of the vintage, and the wine is extremely full-bodied and rich with intense levels of extract and tannin, but the latter is gorgeously sweet and well-integrated. Still young and primary, this 2006 will benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age, and drink well for 15-20." (10/2008)

1990 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1990 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (99RP, 94WS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This magnificent Lynch Bages has been drinking well since the day it was released and it continues to go from strength to strength. The biggest, richest, fullest-bodied Lynch Bages until the 2000, the fully mature 1990 exhibits an unbelievably explosive nose of black currants, cedarwood, herbs and spice. The majestic, classically Bordeaux aromatics are followed by a full-bodied, voluptuously textured, rich, intense wine with superb purity as well as thrilling levels of fruit, glycerin and sweetness. This beauty should continue to provide immense pleasure over the next 15+ years. (RP)" (08/2011)

2004 Faiveley Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "La Combe d`Orveau"
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2004 Faiveley Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "La Combe d`Orveau" ((91-93BH)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: " If I had to nominate one wine as the top sleeper in Faiveley's considerable 1er portfolio, it would be this one. It's not always the best but it's always in the running for top honors and in 2004, it runs the table with its supremely high-toned aromas of ultra pure red pinot fruit nuanced with spice and tea notes. The flavor precision is so intense that it etches itself into the palate and is expressed almost as a rectilinear quality yet there is much better density here than most wines possessing this kind of delineation. In sum, this has that 'wow' factor with superb complexity and a stunningly refined demeanor. Buy it." (01/2006)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2000 Pierre Usseglio "Mon Aieul" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (95RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The profound 2000 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de Mon Aieul (85% Grenache and the rest equal parts Syrah, Mourvedre, and Cinsault) tips the scales at 15% alcohol. From an old vineyard and cropped at 15 hectoliters per hectare, and aged only in foudre, it boasts a dense purple color in addition to an exquisite nose of violets, minerals, blueberries and blackberries. Pure and concentrated, but atypically tannic, it requires considerable aging as it is one of the vintage's more backward, broodingly powerful efforts. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2020." (02/2003)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2003 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée Reservée" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (98RP, 97WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " Starting with the 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reserve, this wine showed spectacularly on release, closed down for a few years, and has now emerged, at close to full maturity, and is straight-up fabulous. Out of the entire tasting, it remained my favorite. Giving up gorgeous blackberry, currants, garrigue, pepper and beef blood, it hits the palate with a massive, full-bodied texture that carries layers of sweet fruit, awesome concentration and blockbuster length. Tasting like the essence of both this estate and the terroir, it’s an incredible wine that I’m happy to taste/drink anytime. It will continue to evolve gracefully, but I see no reason to delay gratification. (JD)" (08/2014)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Louis Jadot Clos Vougeot Grand Cru ((93-95RP), (92-94BH), 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Charred meat, black currant, and wet stone characterize the bouquet of Jadot’s 2005 Clos Vougeot. Savory, salty, brightly-fruited and invigoratingly juicy on the palate, this displays more energy and acidity than I would have expected from the appellation. For all of the clarity and juiciness of this wine’s fruit, grilled meat and stony earthiness combined with the emergence of formidable tannins and subtle but persistent cyanic and iodine notes to turn its formidably long finish somewhat austere. But this is going to result in an exciting rendition of its terroir if left in the dark for at least 6-8 years. " (06/2007)

1966 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Grand Cru "Romanée-Conti"
Bid on this bottle of 1966 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Grand Cru "Romanée-Conti" (96BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: " Interestingly, the Romanée-Conti possesses perhaps the freshest nose on any of the DRC '66s from regular 750 ml format as it immediately soars from the glass to reveal a classic RC nose of hoisin, spice, dark fruit, caramel and touches of earth, underbrush and a hint of game that is followed by rich, sweet and smoky medium full flavors that completely coat the palate and explode on the mineral-infused finish. A seriously impressive wine that is class in a glass and this is an exceptionally seductive RC for the usual underlying reserve is missing in action. In sum, a phenomenal performance for the relatively young vines. " (04/2007)

1975 Petrus, Pomerol
Bid on this bottle of 1975 Petrus, Pomerol (98RP, 95ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the most rustic and powerful Petrus of the last 25 years, this wine still has a murky garnet/plum/purple color, a gorgeous nose of overripe black cherries, mocha, caramel, chocolate, and a hint of iron and blood. Full-bodied, super-concentrated, with massive tannin and extract, this behemoth Petrus can be enjoyed but still seems another 5-10 years away from maturity. It is certainly a 50-70 year wine, with exquisite concentration and intensity, but seemingly the rough edges will no doubt be less appealing to those looking for pure seamlessness. Perhaps that will emerge with bottle age. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2040. (Bordeaux Book 4th Edition)" (01/2003)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Bouchard Père et Fils Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru ((93-95BH), 95ST, 95WE). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good bright dark red. Initially reticent aromas of cherry, cola, flowers, pepper and sweet oak. Dense and fine-grained but youthfully imploded, with a strong stony minerality keeping the red cherry, bitter chocolate and floral flavors under wraps. Finishes very juicy and very long, with intriguing pepper and floral nuances. The recorked bottle 24 hours later showed brilliantly complex aromas and flavors of black raspberry, bitter chocolate, rose petal and minerals and superb sappy persistence. A great expression of soil and a highlight of the vintage. I promise you that I drained the bottle to the last drop." (04/2001)

2001 Ausone, St-Emilion
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Ausone, St-Emilion (98RP, 95WS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2001 Ausone has put on even more weight than I anticipated. The 'wine of the vintage,' this inky/purple-colored 2001 boasts a provocative, floral perfume of crushed stones, raspberries, blackberries, creme de cassis, licorice, and smoke. What makes it so sensational are the layers of flavor and nuances that unfold as the wine sits in the glass as well as on the palate. This is an extraordinarily intense effort, but remarkably elegant and well-balanced. It ideally needs another decade of cellaring; it should last for 4-5 decades! Alain Vauthier is a perfectionist, which is evidenced by what he has produced over the last half dozen vintages at Ausone. Kudos to readers lucky enough to find a bottle or two ... and live long enough to enjoy them in their prime. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2050+. (RP)" (06/2004)

1986 Margaux, Margaux
Bid on this bottle of 1986 Margaux, Margaux (98AG, 98RP, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A magnificent example of Chateau Margaux and one of the most tannic, backward Margauxs of the last 50 years, the 1986 continues to evolve at a glacial pace. The color is still a dense ruby/purple with just a hint of lightening at the rim. With several hours of aeration, the aromatics become striking, with notes of smoke, toast, creme de cassis, mineral, and white flowers. Very full-bodied, with high but sweet tannin, great purity, and a very masculine, full-bodied style, this wine should prove nearly immortal in terms of its aging potential. It is beginning to budge from its infantile stage and approach adolescence. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2050. Last tasted, 12/02. (RP)" (01/2003)

The high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend (about 80%) resulted in a wine that has put on weight in the bottle. An opaque purple color is accompanied by beautiful aromas of tobacco, new saddle leather, roasted coffee, and cassis. It is dense, medium to full-bodied, and backward, with moderately high tannin, but plenty of sweet fruit, glycerin, and extract to balance out the wine's structure. This well-endowed, classic Pauillac should be at its finest between 2006-2022." (04/1999)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Hubert Lignier Morey-St-Denis 1er Cru Vieilles Vignes ((92-94RP), 90JS, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Morey St. Denis Vieilles Vignes is a gorgeous, striking wine. It exhibits notable density in a rich, yet weightless expression of fruit that is hard to fully capture with words. The bright red fruit blossoms on the palate with tons of fragrance and elegance, building nicely to the long, intense finish. The Vieilles Vignes is made from parcels in Faconnieres and Chenevery planted in 1936 on soils similar to those found in Clos de la Roche. Pushing perfection, this blend of 57% Cabernet Franc (the highest ever at Angelus) and 43% Merlot boasts a dense purple color as well as a sublime set of aromatics, including forest floor, blue, red and black fruits, charcoal and hints of licorice and wood spice. Long, opulent, voluptuously textured and incredibly youthful and fresh, this full-bodied, tour de force in winemaking is an absolute legend in the making. Bid on this bottle of 2006 M. Chapoutier "Le Pavillon" Ermitage Rouge (97RP, 96WS, 94WE, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are nearly 1,200 cases of the 2006 Ermitage Le Pavillon. Since Michel Chapoutier released his first full vintage, 1989, of this single vineyard Hermitage, it has been one of the great wines of both France and the world. The 1989 and 1990 remain very young wines (I had them over the holiday break and was amazed by their still youthful personalities.). The inky/purple-hued 2006 exhibits a gorgeous perfume of crushed rocks, white flowers, creme de cassis, blackberries, graphite, and a subtle touch of oak. The wine, unlike most 2003s, has a freshness and liveliness provided by their extraordinary terroir. This wine can be drunk now. It has a dense bluish/purple color to the rim and an extraordinary nose of blueberries and mulberries, with blacker cassis and blackberry entering the picture. Scorched earth, spice and licorice are all present in this magnificent, full-bodied, opulent wine that is very Montrose, very classic and somewhat atypical of the vintage. 2000 Pavie, St-Emilion
Bid on this bottle of 2000 Pavie, St-Emilion (100RP, 96WS, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine remains, for me, one of the compelling success stories for proprietor Gerard Perse. An extraordinary effort made from a blend of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon from the limestone soils that dominate this very distinctive terroir, the 2000 Pavie has moved out of the closed, dormant, broodingly backward stage into an adolescent period where one can see its extraordinary vibrancy, and great complexity as well as potential. It boasts an unctuous display of rich, cedar box-infused cassis fruit and liquid minerality. The tannins have sweetened, yet the wine has thirty years of longevity and potential evolution. A beautiful wine of great mass as well as elegance, it is good to see the extraordinary efforts that Gerard Perse and his team have made confirmed in this prodigious wine. While magnificently long, this stunning Ducster is completely shut down at present and it would be a vinous crime to open one at this very early point in its development as the '05 is built for the very long haul, indeed 20 years may be too soon. In my view, the '05 Ducster is destined to take its place alongside the greatest vintages of the past, and while the words 'best ever' are presumptuous in a wine with such a distinguished history, the mere fact that it has the potential to be among the very best ever is praise enough." Bid on this 6-half-bottle lot of 2001 d'Yquem, Sauternes (375ml) (100JS, 100RP, 100WS). Wine Spectator: "The greatest young Yquem I have ever tasted from bottle. Yellow, with a golden hue and an almost green tint. Intense aromas of botrytis, spices and blanched almonds follow through to honey, maple syrup, dried apricot and pineapple. Full-bodied, sweet, thick and powerful, with layers of fruit and a bright, lively finish. Coats the palate yet remains exciting. So balanced and refined, showing the pedigree that only this Sauternes estate can deliver. Best after 2012." (11/2005)

2005 Louis Jadot Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru
Bid on this 9-bottle lot of 2005 Louis Jadot Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru ((92-94BH)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A slightly less elegant but equally complex nose of almost exclusively red berry fruit aromas nuanced by touches of earth, underbrush and a subtle hint of game precede round, rich and generous flavors underpinned by suave tannins and a velvety and dusty finish. At present the tannins are on the chewy side and like the Latricières, this will require a certain amount of patience." (04/2007)

2000 La Mission Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan
Bid on this bottle of 2000 La Mission Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan (100RP, 95JS, 95ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the wines of the vintage, the 2000 has barely budged in its evolution since it was bottled and released in 2002. After ten years in bottle, it still reveals a dense opaque purple color along with a potentially sensational bouquet of blueberries, black currants, graphite, asphalt and background oak. Extremely powerful, full-bodied and superbly concentrated with good acidity and high but round tannins, this massive La Mission-Haut-Brion should take its place among this estate’s most hallowed vintages when it hits full maturity in another one to two decades. I was surprised by just how youthful this wine tasted at age 12. If tasted blind, I would have guessed it to be around 4 to 5 years old. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2050." (08/2012)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2001 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (95WE, 93RP, 93W&S, 92ST, 92WS). Wine Enthusiast: " *Cellar Selection* The high proportion of Merlot in Pichon Lalande is a good reason why this wine, among the great wines of Pauillac, is always so seductive. This is no exception; it charms as well as excites with vibrant fruits as well as serious, dense tannins and acidity that promise good aging. Give it 7-9 years for full maturity to begin." Wine Enthusiast: " ** Editors' Choice ** A wonderfully firm, concentrated wine that walks a fine, balanced line between richness and poised structure. It is classic in the best sense, showing all the shape of a fine Bordeaux, while adding the extra dimension of the freshest of black fruits, complexity from a few hints of wood, and a dark, brooding, long-lasting aftertaste." 1966 Montrose, St-Estèphe
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1966 Montrose, St-Estèphe. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1966 is still dark ruby with a peppery, very spice, yet tight, relatively closed bouquet. The wine is austere and tough on the palate, with good fruit and firm, rough tannins. Comparatively, it is not as massive or as rich as the 1970, 1964, or 1961, but is still backward and austere. Will the fruit hold up to the tannins? Anticipated maturity: Now-2005. Last tasted, 1/90." (01/1998)

Of the 1999 Dominique Laurent Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru,Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Ruby-red. Profound aromas of black cherry, dark chocolate and violet. Of the 1996 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 1996 Pichon-Lalande is just as awesome from bottle as it was from multiple cask tastings... The color is a saturated ruby/purple. The nose suggests sweet, nearly overripe Cabernet Sauvignon, with its blueberry/blackberry/cassis scents intermixed with high quality, subtle, toasty new oak. Deep and full-bodied, with fabulous concentration and a sweet, opulent texture... (RP)" (04/1999)

2006 M. Chapoutier "L'Ermite" Ermitage
Bid on this bottle of 2006 M. Chapoutier "L'Ermite" Ermitage (98RP, 97WS, 94ST, 94WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are nearly 1,000 cases of the 2006 Ermitage l’Ermite, another candidate for perfection in a few years. It boasts an inky/ruby/purple color as well as a stunning bouquet reminiscent of a grand cru Musigny from Burgundy. Spring flower, crushed rock, black raspberry, and black currant scents dominate the aromatics of this incredibly pure, full-bodied wine. With laser-like precision and enormous extract and concentration, it comes across as remarkably elegant and fresh with crystal clear focus. A beautiful tour de force from the decomposed granitic soils of this site on the top of the Hermitage mountain, this amazing wine requires a decade of cellaring, and should last for 35 years." 1961 Pontet Canet, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1961 Pontet Canet, Pauillac (94RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The best bottles exhibit rich, deep color, with a full-blown, ripe, deep bouquet of spices and plums, viscous, round, supple flavors, and the sumptuous length that typify this great vintage. Now fully mature, the good examples of this wine will last a decade. Certainly the best Pontet-Canet I have ever tasted. The wine performed splendidly at a vertical tasting at Pontet-Canet in 1990. Bid on this bottle of 2007 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault "Clos de la Barre" (91BH, 91ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Pale color. Discreet aromas of soft citrus fruits and powdered stone. Juicy and tightly wound, with a captivating floral perfume in the mouth. For a wine with a light touch, this finishes with impressive thrust, not to mention aromatic persistence. Lafon calls this his favorite Clos de la Barre in a long time, noting that he also likes the 2000 very much." (09/2009)

1982 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac (97RP, 96AG, 96JS, 95ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is a denser version of the 1990 that stylistically reminds me of what the young 1959 probably tasted like. Still backward with a deep ruby/plum color revealing only a touch of lightening at the edge, the wine offers up an extraordinary nose of caramelized herbs, smoke, cedar, pen ink, black currants, and earth. The gorgeous aromatics are followed by a full-bodied, plump, rich, fleshy wine with low acidity. With 6-8 hours decanting in a closed decanter, it will offer beautiful drinking, but it needs another 5-8 years to reach full maturity. It is capable of lasting 50-60 years. (97+) (RP)" (06/2009)
