Since its founding in 1991, the tiny Domaine de la Tournelle in France's Jura has grown from less than a hectare to six hectares of the region's unique varietals, including the Trousseau that goes into this lovely wine. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Maybach Family "Materium" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 94ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Materium from the Weitz Vineyard reveals lots of minerality along with sweet red and black currants, licorice, graphite and spring flowers. Deep and full-bodied, it is displaying a lot of tannin in addition to a reserved, backward, brooding style. Everything is there for super enjoyment and high quality, but patience is required. 95+ (RP)" (10/2013)

Of the 2009 Rivers-Marie "Occidental Ridge" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir,Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Good deep ruby-red. Sour cherry, bitter chocolate and violet pastille on the nose, plus a whiff of strawberry liqueur. Thick, sweet, large-scaled and rich, with concentrated cherry and fragrant mint flavors. The wine's color, breadth and tannins suggest very strong dry extract. Finishes with classic dryness and impressive aromatic persistence. 2009 Bodegas J A Calvo Casajus "Nic" Ribera del Duero
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Bodegas J A Calvo Casajus "Nic" Ribera del Duero (97RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Casajus NIC is the top wine, sourced from a single 1.5 hectare plot that yielded less than 2,500 kilogram per hectare (NIC, by the way, is the abbreviation of Nicolas and Catalina, Jose Alberto’s children.) It is raised in new 500-liter Allier barrels over 18 months. It has a very intense nose of raspberry, fresh strawberry, maraschino and blood orange that effortlessly embraces the oak. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte, succulent tannins, the oak playing a complementary role (in my opinion, the use of larger barrels moderating their influence.) It is struck through with outstanding acidity and wonderful minerality toward the finish. It shimmers in the mouth: so much purity you want to cry. It may be eye-wateringly expensive, but it is one of Ribera del Duero’s finest wines. Drink 2014-2025. " (02/2013)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Bedrock Vineyard impresses for its elegance and class. Blackberries, cassis, leather, cedar and tobacco are woven together beautifully in this nuanced Cabernet Sauvignon. The essence of crushed rocks, violets and licorice wrap around the insistent finish. Sweet floral notes add layers of aromatic brightness on the close. In 2009 the blend includes 9% of co-fermented Petit Verdot. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2029. (AG)" (02/2012)

2009 Maybach Family "Amoenus" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Maybach Family "Amoenus" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (94RP, 92ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Amoenus, which I previously tasted from barrel when it was a lot more open, has shut down completely (as a lot of 2009s seem to be doing). Full-bodied and rich, it reveals notes of damp earth, blackberries and creme de cassis as well as a distinctive terroir character. Although there are elevated tannins, they seem relatively sweet and not the least astringent. Nevertheless, this cuvee has gone into a firm, closed state and several years of bottle age is recommended. It should keep for 15-25 years. (RP)" (10/2013)

Vibrant red and dark berries on the nose, with sexy Asian spices, fresh rose and bright minerality adding complexity. Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2009 Saxum "Paderewski Vineyard" Paso Robles Proprietary Red (97RP, 94WS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Paderewski Vineyard is a new bottling from a site Smith developed for Bill and Liz Armstrong, the owners of Epoch. Zinfandel, Syrah, Petit Sirah and Mourvedre are planted in separate plots but co-fermented. Layers of dark fruit meld into flowers, mint, sweet spices, menthol, eucalyptus and plums, with marvelous density and harmony. This shows superb aromatic complexity and tons of nuance to match its absolutely striking personality. It is a dazzling effort, especially for a young vineyard in just its third leaf. The blend was 39% Zinfandel, 38% Syrah, 13% Petite Sirah and 10% Mourvedre. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2021. (AG)" (08/2011)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Precious is rich, textured and quite pretty. Dark plums, cherries, menthol and spices are layered into this attractive medium-bodied wine. Firm tannins support a textured, inviting finish laced with tar, smoke and licorice. Deceptively medium in body, the 2009 fleshes out beautifully with time in the glass, turning quite powerful and intense. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (AG)" (12/2012)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Thorevilos displays a stunningly blue/purple color along with an exceptional nose of blueberry and blackberry liqueur intermixed with espresso, white chocolate and violets. With unbelievable intensity, a great, full-bodied mouthfeel, stunning purity, a subtle hint of wood, but no hard edges, this is one 2009 that does not have that broodingly tannic structure that is common in this vintage. This sensational effort can be drunk early on or cellared for another three decades. (RP)" (10/2013)

Of the 2008 Rivers-Marie "Summa Old Vines" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir,Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Medium red. Red fruits, licorice and spicy oak lifted by orange zest, minerals, mint and a whiff of rhubarb. Densely packed and plump, with a breadth of texture that belies its modest alcohol level. Boasts excellent red berry energy and sap; there's a crushed fruit quality here that reminded me of Chambolle. The long, rising finish is sweet but quite firm, with plenty of fruit tannins to support the 100% new oak treatment. This fascinating and satisfying wine made the Occidental Vineyard

It possesses fresh acidity, stunning purity, a long, expansive mouthfeel, terrific equilibrium, and the oak is completely concealed by the layers of fruit. Of the 2009 Ridge "Klein" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Ridge’s 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Klein wraps around the palate with dark red cherries, anise, flowers and grilled herbs. This is an attractive, fleshy Cabernet with plenty of vibrant fruit. Interestingly, the Klein Cabernet shows quite a bit more varietal nuance than the Merlot, which is also from Jimsomare ranch. Compared to the Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, the Klein has more structure and less immediate appeal, although that won’t be much of an issue in the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2029. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Hubert Lignier Morey-St-Denis 1er Cru Vieilles Vignes ((92-94RP), 90JS, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Morey St. Denis Vieilles Vignes is a gorgeous, striking wine. It exhibits notable density in a rich, yet weightless expression of fruit that is hard to fully capture with words. The bright red fruit blossoms on the palate with tons of fragrance and elegance, building nicely to the long, intense finish. The Vieilles Vignes is made from parcels in Faconnieres and Chenevery planted in 1936 on soils similar to those found in Clos de la Roche. Juicy and broad on entry, then a bit tighter in the middle, offering densely packed orchard fruit flavors and notes of smoke and honeysuckle. More powerful than the Horseshoe but no less animated. Loaded with sweet black raspberry, cassis, wild herbs, flowers and subtle blood and iodine qualities, it is a full-bodied, decadent Syrah that has incredible mid-palate depth, beautiful freshness and a blockbuster finish. Bid on this bottle of 2009 Cheval Blanc, St-Emilion (99JS, 99RP, (96-98WE), 98WS, 97ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "It will be fascinating to follow the evolution of the 2009 Cheval Blanc versus the 2010 as well as the awesome 2005, 2000, 1998 and 1990. This famous estate’s vineyard is situated at the juncture of Pomerol and the sandy, gravelly soils of St.-Emilion, facing the two noble estates of l’Evangile and La Conseillante. A blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc, the 2009 Cheval Blanc tips the scales at just under 14% natural alcohol. Its dense blue/purple color is accompanied by an extraordinary nose of incense, raspberries, cassis, sweet forest floor and a subtle hint of menthol. Opulent and full-bodied with low acidity but no sense of heaviness, this dense, unctuously textured, super-smooth, velvety, pure, profound Cheval Blanc is impossible to resist despite its youthfulness. Heady, exotically perfumed bouquet of dried pear, peach pit, candied lemon, iodine and smoky lees, plus a suave floral quality and a touch of anise. Enters rich and weighty but quickly gains tension, offering zesty citrus and orchard fruit flavors and an intense, almost saline mineral underpinning. Finishes smoky and extremely long, with the iodine and pear notes echoing. I find the interplay of richness and minerality to be really intriguing." (06/2011)

2009 Rhys "Alpine Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2009 Rhys "Alpine Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir (95RP, 93BH, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Pinot Noir Alpine Vineyard tends towards a dark red, almost black expression of wild cherries. It is an intensely coiled, powerful wine in need of a few years of cellaring. The mineral notes speak very clearly in this pointed, beautifully articulated Pinot. With time in the glass the wine’s inner perfume begins to emerge, but the best is years away. The chiseled, pure finish leaves a lasting impression. This is the most finely-knit, complete wine in the Rhys portfolio." (08/2012)

2009 Alban "Seymour’s Vineyard" Edna Valley Syrah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Alban "Seymour’s Vineyard" Edna Valley Syrah (96RP, 95AG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "More angular and edgy, yet still more approachable than normal for this cuvee, the 2009 Syrah Seymour’s Vineyard has serious amounts of mineral-tinged dark fruits, licorice, smoked herbs and chocolate as well a firm, structured, full-bodied profile on the palate. This wine’s big bones, ripe tannin and bright acidity all point to a long life. Give it 3-4 years in the cellar and enjoy though 2024+. (JD)" (08/2013)

2009 Sine Qua Non "The Thrill of Stamp Collecting" Syrah
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Sine Qua Non "The Thrill of Stamp Collecting" Syrah (95RP, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Syrah The Thrill Of impresses for its poise and underlying energy. Dark fruit, spices, licorice and violets sit on a core of firm tannin as this powerful wine opens up in the glass. Today, The Thrill OfYcomes across as very, very young. The intensity of the fruit and the oak are dominant at present. In another few years the wine should be spectacular. The Thrill Of... is 90% Syrah, 6% Grenache and 4% Viognier, all destemmed and mostly from estate owned vineyards. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (AG)" (08/2012)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Kistler "Vine Hill" Russian River Valley Chardonnay (94ST, 93RP, 91WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Vivid gold. Lively, mineral-dominated aromas of candied citrus fruits, pear and ginger, with a smoky nuance building with air. Rich and expansive but very dry, offering palate-staining orange and pear skin flavors lifted by vibrant mineral and floral notes. Closes with excellent clarity and cut; there's zero excess fat here." (05/2012)

2009 Rhys "Horseshoe Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2009 Rhys "Horseshoe Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir (94RP, 94ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Pinot Noir Horseshoe Vineyard is the most virile wine in this lineup. Black cherries, mint, iron and crushed rocks come together in this dramatic, generous Pinot. The fleshiness of the fruit nearly covers the tannins, but they are lurking beneath the wine’s considerable fleshiness. Menthol, pine and a host of other dark, balsamic notes wrap around the insistent, powerful finish. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (AG)" (08/2011)

2009 Rivers-Marie "Roberto Corona Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Rivers-Marie "Roberto Corona Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (93RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Roberto Corona Vineyard, from a site on the Oakville bench, is the richest of these 2009 Cabernets from Rivers-Marie. It bursts from the glass with jammy, opulent fruit and a big, full-bodied personality. Blue and black fruit, mint, licorice and sweet spices wrap around the finish. The 100% new oak comes through here. I am not sure this wine needs all the oak and makeup. There is plenty of pedigree already. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2021. (AG)" (12/2011)

2009 Lanessan, Haut-Médoc (6L)
Bid on this 6L-bottle lot of 2009 Lanessan, Haut-Médoc (6L) (OWC - (90-92RP)) in original wood. 90-92 points Robert Parker: "...the 2009 Lanessan seems more explosive and concentrated than prior vintages. I’m not sure it is the finest I have ever tasted, but it boasts a dense purple color as well as copious creme de cassis, cedar wood, underbrush, and spice notes. Beautiful opulence, silky tannins, and a long finish suggest this sleeper of the vintage will drink well for 2-3 decades. (Tasted once.)" (04/10) 90-92 points Neal Martin: "Tasted at Vintex. The excellent Lanessan '09 sports a tightly-wound nose that is well defined with blackberry, plum and cedar, earthy notes coming through with time. This demonstrated much more sense of terroir than other Medoc 2009s. The palate is full-bodied with good fruit concentration, fine balance with a rounded supple blackberry and cedar finish that retains Médocian typicité. This is a great Lanessan that should drink well over 10-15 years." (03/10

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (98RP, 97JS, 97WS, 96ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Simply put, the 2009 James Berry Vineyard is one of the greatest young wines I have ever tasted from California, or anywhere for that matter. Bright, floral aromatics lead to expressive red fruit in this impossibly elegant, dazzling wine. A melange of rose petals, mint and licorice follows as the James Berry shows off its breathtaking clarity and finesse. Fine-grained, chalky tannins frame the exceptional finish. Frankly, I am surprised this is the first wine of the tasting. Where does one go from here? (AG) " (08/2011)

2009 Hundred Acre "Deep Time" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Hundred Acre "Deep Time" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 100RP, 94ST) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Deep Time is another perfect wine. Quintessential elegance, seductiveness and ripeness are all present in this full-bodied, gorgeously rich wine along with intense minerality and abundant, corpulent, cassis, mulberry and boysenberry fruit. It takes a wild ride on the palate with incredible intensity yet a surreal finesse and focus that belie the wine’s compelling concentration and intensity. I’ll cut off my notes now since so few people will ever get a chance to try this beauty, but if you do, it takes you deep into the essence of Cabernet Sauvignon as well as the complicated think tank of Woodbridge’s brain. Anticipated maturity: now-2030. (RP)" (10/2013)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Sine Qua Non "This Is Not An Exit" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah (97RP, 95ST, 95WS, 94AG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An extended barrel-aged release, the 2009 Syrah This Is Not An Exit is 100% from the Santa Rita Hills Eleven Confessions Vineyard and checks in as a blend of 80% Syrah, 12% Grenache, 7% Roussanne and 1% Viognier that saw 41.5 months in 65% new French oak. Slightly exotic, with notions of kirsch, flower oil, smoked meats, licorice and graphite, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness and depth, loads of fruit and a blockbuster finish. More approachable than the 2010 extended barrel age Syrah, this beauty will still have 15+ years of longevity. Drink now-2024. (JD)" (08/2013)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Ridge Vineyards "East Bench" Dry Creek Zinfandel (92CG, 92WE, 91RP). 92 points and an Editors' Choice, Wine Enthusiast: "A rich, lusty and satisfying Zinfandel, showing classic varietal flavors of ripe, wild red berries, tobacco, soy sauce, bacon and white pepper. Alcohol is notable in the slight heat and glyceriney sweetness, but those elements are welcome parts of the wine's personality. Drink now." (09/11) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Zinfandel East Bench is a big, burly wine loaded with dark cherries, flowers, tobacco and sweet herbs, all of which come together on a medium-bodied frame. It shows lovely length and personality, although some rough edges remain. With air, though, some of those angular contours begin to soften. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019." Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Henri Boillot Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru (96ST, 95AG, 90BH). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "High-pitched aromas of fresh peach, crushed stone, violet and lavender. Dense, sweet and rich, with very ripe pineapple fruit leavened by smoky minerality and given cut and focus by strong (4.5 g/l) acidity. Offers an uncanny combination of depth and high pitch for the vintage. The building, extremely long finish titillates the taste buds and leaves the mouth vibrating. 2009 Rivers-Marie "Silver Eagle Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Rivers-Marie "Silver Eagle Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. From Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown and his wife Genevieve Marie Welsh are the duo behind the impressive Rivers-Marie wines. Brown is one of this generation’s most exciting young winemakers. His early work with Helen Turley and his first consulting clients, including Schrader, is well-known, but what is less well-known is the number of other winemakers whom he has inspired, directly and indirectly. Brown’s winemaking is deeply influenced by his knowledge and passion for the historic California Cabernets and Pinots of decades past, and the great reds of Burgundy and Piedmont, a perspective that is not too common among younger winemakers. " (12/11) According to the winemaker's notes, they were excited that the 2009 "Silver Eagle" showed a bit of reduction: "The last bottle we opened we decanted, returned to bottle, left on the kitchen counter and drank 24 hours l

There is an inner sweetness and sheer depth that make the 2009 compelling. The 11% Syrah and 5% Mourvedre make themselves heard clearly in adding layers of depth and pure richness. Tar, anise and graphite meld together on the rich, dramatic finish. This is a striking wine endowed with tons of pure textural dimension.
