2005 Thierry-Allemand Cornas "Reynard"
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Thierry-Allemand Cornas "Reynard" (96WS, 95ST). Wine Spectator: "Densely packed, with tar, olive and maduro tobacco notes up front, holding the massive core of braised fig, plum sauce and tar at bay for now. The muscular finish shows flashes of iron, garrigue and graphite. Very, very long. Best from 2011 through 2024." (02/2009)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2006 Domaine de la Janasse "Chaupin" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (95RP, 93ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape Chaupin’s deep ruby/purple hue is followed by a phenomenal nose of black cherry liqueur, melted licorice, incense, asphalt, truffles, and a hint of earth. This dense, full-bodied effort is a candidate for wine of the vintage. Consume it over the next 12-13 years. " (10/2008)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Domaine Giraud "Grenaches de Pierre" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (99RP, 96WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Up there with the 2010 and flirting with perfection, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape les Grenaches de Pierre is about as incredible an expression of old vine Grenache as you can find. Still deep ruby colored, it offers up an insane bouquet of kirsch, cassis, exotic flowers, pepper, garrigue and licorice that flows seamlessly to a full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, yet layered and elegant profile on the palate. It’s one of those rare wines that carries phenomenal richness, yet never seems heavy, cumbersome or puts a foot wrong. Drink it anytime over the coming decade. (JD)" (08/2014)

2006 Pierre Usseglio "Mon Aïeul" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2006 Pierre Usseglio "Mon Aïeul" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (96RP, 94WS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A star of the vintage is the 2006 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee Mon Aïeul. It is hard to believe how great this wine has turned out to be. I called it last year, and I’m thrilled to see how utterly profound it is. Essentially very old vine Grenache from three different terroirs (the sands of Les Serres, the clay of Guignasse, and the limestone of La Crau), aged 80% in cement tanks and 20% in old barrels, it boasts a dense plum/purple color followed by a glorious bouquet of black cherries, blackberries, truffles, lavender, licorice, and spring flowers. The color is one of the darkest of the vintage, and the wine is extremely full-bodied and rich with intense levels of extract and tannin, but the latter is gorgeously sweet and well-integrated. Still young and primary, this 2006 will benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age, and drink well for 15-20." (10/2008)

2000 Pierre Usseglio "Mon Aieul" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2000 Pierre Usseglio "Mon Aieul" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (95RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The profound 2000 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de Mon Aieul (85% Grenache and the rest equal parts Syrah, Mourvedre, and Cinsault) tips the scales at 15% alcohol. From an old vineyard and cropped at 15 hectoliters per hectare, and aged only in foudre, it boasts a dense purple color in addition to an exquisite nose of violets, minerals, blueberries and blackberries. Pure and concentrated, but atypically tannic, it requires considerable aging as it is one of the vintage's more backward, broodingly powerful efforts. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2020." (02/2003)

2003 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée Reservée" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2003 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée Reservée" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (98RP, 97WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " Starting with the 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reserve, this wine showed spectacularly on release, closed down for a few years, and has now emerged, at close to full maturity, and is straight-up fabulous. Out of the entire tasting, it remained my favorite. Giving up gorgeous blackberry, currants, garrigue, pepper and beef blood, it hits the palate with a massive, full-bodied texture that carries layers of sweet fruit, awesome concentration and blockbuster length. Tasting like the essence of both this estate and the terroir, it’s an incredible wine that I’m happy to taste/drink anytime. It will continue to evolve gracefully, but I see no reason to delay gratification. (JD)" (08/2014)

2006 M. Chapoutier "Le Pavillon" Ermitage Rouge
Bid on this bottle of 2006 M. Chapoutier "Le Pavillon" Ermitage Rouge (97RP, 96WS, 94WE, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are nearly 1,200 cases of the 2006 Ermitage Le Pavillon. Since Michel Chapoutier released his first full vintage, 1989, of this single vineyard Hermitage, it has been one of the great wines of both France and the world. The 1989 and 1990 remain very young wines (I had them over the holiday break and was amazed by their still youthful personalities.). The inky/purple-hued 2006 exhibits a gorgeous perfume of crushed rocks, white flowers, creme de cassis, blackberries, graphite, and a subtle touch of oak. Exceptionally full-bodied, multilayered in concentration, extraordinarily pure, and long, this is a prodigious young Hermitage that should be at its finest between 2018-2050+." (04/2009)

2006 M. Chapoutier "L'Ermite" Ermitage
Bid on this bottle of 2006 M. Chapoutier "L'Ermite" Ermitage (98RP, 97WS, 94ST, 94WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are nearly 1,000 cases of the 2006 Ermitage l’Ermite, another candidate for perfection in a few years. It boasts an inky/ruby/purple color as well as a stunning bouquet reminiscent of a grand cru Musigny from Burgundy. Spring flower, crushed rock, black raspberry, and black currant scents dominate the aromatics of this incredibly pure, full-bodied wine. With laser-like precision and enormous extract and concentration, it comes across as remarkably elegant and fresh with crystal clear focus. A beautiful tour de force from the decomposed granitic soils of this site on the top of the Hermitage mountain, this amazing wine requires a decade of cellaring, and should last for 35 years." 2006 E. Guigal Hermitage
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2006 E. Guigal Hermitage (92ST, 92WS, 90WE). Wine Spectator: "This has ample cocoa, plum and coffee flavors mixed together, laced with dark spice and charcoal notes. A sanguine edge flitters through the finish, along with hints of sandalwood and singed cedar, lending a rustic hint. Not quite as refined as the top examples, but still very solid. Best from 2013 through 2023. 4,165 cases made." (09/2012)

Of the 2003 Domaine de la Janasse "Vieilles Vignes" Châteauneuf-du-Pape,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "A wine I’ve had more than a case of, sometimes with irregular results, the 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes was drinking about as good as it gets on this occasion. As usual, it’s made in a deeper, richer style than the Chaupin and offers thrilling texture, a smoking mid-palate and nothing but gorgeous Grenache fruit on the finish. Loaded with notions of blackberry liqueur, kirsch, fruit cake and spice, enjoy this knockout effort over the coming 2-4 years or so. " (08/2014)

2001 Domaine de la Vieille Julienne Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Domaine de la Vieille Julienne Châteauneuf-du-Pape (95RP, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A vintage that’s drinking at point today for most producers, Jean-Paul’s 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape is still young and concentrated, with a rich, structured, yet complex profile. Giving up classic licorice, garrigue, dried flowers and plums and cherry-driven fruit, it has full-bodied richness, big tannin and a ripe, concentrated and lengthy feel on the palate. During the tasting, Jean-Paul commented that this was the first vintage where he really felt like he understood his terroir. Open bottles anytime over the coming 7-8 years. " (08/2014)

Amazingly opulent, even voluptuous, with extraordinary purity, a huge tactile impression on the palate, but not heavy by any means, this is a stunning Chateauneuf du Pape from ancient vines made with 95% Grenache and the rest Cinsault and Syrah. 1969 Chateau de la Gardine Chateauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this bottle of 1969 Chateau de la Gardine Chateauneuf-du-Pape. According to Robert Parker: "A decidedly modern take on Chateauneuf du Pape, but wine built for long-term aging is the rule of thumb from this estate tucked away in the very western reaches of Chateauneuf du Pape. I have cellared their Cuvee des Generations as far back as 1978. It’s a wine that does behave more like a Bordeaux than many Chateauneuf du Papes, requiring a good decade of cellaring, and it may be one of the few wines that takes that long to shed some tannin. Of course it sees aging in new oak barrels, as La Gardine was one of the first to use new oak for its Chateauneuf du Pape, and while the wine can be somewhat internationally styled and oaky in its youth, the wood does get absorbed as the wine ages, and after a decade there is no doubt it is a southern Rhone wine with plenty of Provencal typicity in it."
