2013 Au Bon Climat/K&L Wine Merchants "Bien Nacido Vineyard" Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir (Previously $25)

We couldn't be more excited to bring you another installment in what hopefully will turn out to be a long, fruitful project with wineries from around the United States, working with us directly to make exclusive bottlings for our customers. The Domestic team here at K&L has spent a great deal of time kicking around the idea of approaching wineries or winemakers we love, and asking them to work with us to create exclusive wines to our specifications. Furthermore we wanted to not only promote these outstanding wines, but the wineries behind them (rather th... Read More »

2012 Beringer "Private Reserve" Napa Valley Chardonnay (Previously $35) Top Pick!
2012 Beringer "Private Reserve" Napa Valley Chardonnay (Previously $35)

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Chardonnay Private Reserve became famous under the helmsmanship of chief winemaker Ed Sbragia, and Laurie Hook has refined it ever so slightly by somewhat backing off the oak, and maintaining the depth and richness, but with more precision and refinement. The full-bodied 2012 Chardonnay Private Reserve exhibits wonderful orange blossom, white peach and pineapple fruit, a subtle touch of vanillin and toast, and a nicely layered, pure style with terrific fruit intensity. It is a great value, especially if you compare its quality to just about any premi ...Read More »

2012 Back Nine Cellars Napa Valley Chardonnay (Previously $17)

New Price - A Steal! A rich, but not over-the-top Chardonnay from a prominent Napa Valley winery who has also made wine under our Kalinda label. 2013 Ancient Peaks/K&L Wine Merchants Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon (Previously $25) Top Pick!
2013 Ancient Peaks/K&L Wine Merchants Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon (Previously $25)

Great Price - Just Reduced! Last year’s Ancient Peaks/K&L Zinfandel bottling was such a hit with our staff and customers that we could have done another vintage of it and we all would have been incredibly happy. However, that would be too easy, and that is simply not the K&L way. I started talking to the folks at AP early this year when we began the discussion about doing another bottling together. We both knew that we wanted to, but I really wanted to show off the winery's incredible Cabernet vines and I didn’t know if they had enough Cab to let us have... Read More »

2012 Jordan Russian River Valley Chardonnay (Elsewhere $35) Top Pick!
2012 Jordan Russian River Valley Chardonnay (Elsewhere $35)

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "The winery is making new strides by finding the best sites for its wines rather than trying to grow everything on its estate. This Chardonnay is a case in point. High in acidity and low in oak influence, it offers restrained layers of tropical mango, lemon and ginger snap." (3/2015) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Light yellow-gold. Lively citrus and orchard fruits on the spicy nose. Shows hints of sweet butter and ginger on the palate, complementing Meyer lemon and apple flavors that tighten up with air. Closes tangy and dry, with an echo of ginger and good, nervy persistence. (ST) ...Read More »

2012 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars "Cask 23" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (Previously $240)

97-100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The spectacular 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Cask 23 appears to be the finest Cask 23 since the glory years of the mid-eighties. It boasts a dense purple color, complex notes of spice box, Christmas fruitcake, blackcurrant jam, mulberries and spring flowers, as well as a full-bodied, opulent personality. It is a profound example of this iconic wine that went through a period of mediocrity in the mid- to late-1990s prior to being sold. Drink now-2038. (RP)" (10/2014)

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "A minty aroma wafts from this wine, fresh and herbal, intermingled with the smell of sun-warmed tomato leaves. In taste, cranberry and savory black tea surround soft layers of well-built acidity and subtle red cherry fruitiness. It’s an intriguing wine that gets better in the glass." (10/2014)90 points Wine Spectator: "The plum, black cherry and raspberry flavors are pure and intense, showing some finesse, with star anise, clove and black pepper details that crescendo on the finish. Value is tough to find in Napa Valley. This is about as good as it gets. (AG)" (11/2013) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Under the Casaedra label, (sic) the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa (94% Cabernet Sauvignon from both Coombsville and St. Helena, and 6% Cabernet Franc) is an excellent value. 2012 DuMol "Eddie's Patch" Russian River Valley Syrah (Previously $85)

95 points Antonio Galloni: "Darker tonalities of fruit emerge from the 2012 Syrah Eddie's Patch Hoppe-Kelly Vineyard. Deep and powerful, the 2012 presents a brooding, intense expression of Syrah, with plenty of dark red and blue fruit overtones. I imagine the 2012 will provide readers with a long, broad drinking window of pure pleasure. I was deeply impressed with the wines I tasted at DuMol this year. 2011 Grgich Hills "Estate" Napa Valley Chardonnay (Previously $40)

Connoisseurs Guide: "The Chardonnays of Grgich Hills are rarely, if ever, wines that trade on high ripeness and richness, but this very lean, nearly wiry young wine flirts with suggestions of greenness and proves to be very tight-fisted at this point. While we like its freshness and its hard-to-miss vibrancy, we would be happier if it were a little more outgoing in fruit, but given the winery's track record for slow-to-unfold, long-aging white wines, we are willing to set this one aside for several years." Ready to age for several years, it has a mountain’s worth of tannins, and yet it is incredibly light on its feet." (4/2013)91 points Wine Spectator: "Pleasing for its mix of rustic, gravel-laced dark berry, black cherry and blackberry flavors, gaining depth and firmness on the finish. Grenache and Syrah. 2009 Silverado Vineyards Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (Previously $35)

Connoisseurs Guide: "*One star* Clean and composed at every stop and showing fine fruity precision, this nicely made Cabernet avoids bombast and swagger and instead aims successfully for structure and balance. There is no question but that it toughens up and gets a touch gritty at the finish, but its essential fruit will easily outlast its rather too-obvious tannins, and we are looking for anywhere from five to ten-plus years of very positive growth." 2010 Ravenswood "Icon" Sonoma County Red Blend (Previously $40)

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Inky purple. Pungent, smoke- and spice-accented aromas of black and blue fruits, licorice, vanilla and violet. Fleshy and broad on entry, then tighter in the mid-palate, offering sappy blueberry and black raspberry flavors and a zesty touch of cracked pepper. Closes on a sweet note, with impressive energy and slow-building tannins. I'd give this one at least another five years of bottle age." 2013 County Line Russian River Valley Zinfandel (Previously $28)

2010 Summerland "Bien Nacido Vineyard" Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir (Previously $28)

Wine Enthusiast: "There’s some age showing on the nose of this wine, with cherry liqueur aromas most prevalent. It’s very tasty once sipped, and still strongly tannic, with dark cherry and black clove." (12/2014) K&L Notes: From Central Coast winery owner Nebil "Bilo" Zarif, who also founded Barnwood Vineyards, Summerland is a small (3,000 cases in the single vineyard collection) Pinot Noir specialist. 2009 Madrigal Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (Previously $38)

Connoisseurs Guide: "Varietal in focus if a little dry/stiff, this wine gets its points for its hints of openness under its firm construction. It has tannins for a decade but fruit for half that time, and we would counsel the latter course." (4/2014)

2012 Rochioli Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc

93 points Wine & Spirits: "This Sauvignon’s succulence and its bold depths of flavor come from old vines, some dating to 1960, planted by Joe Rochioli from a selection he gathered at an old UC Davis field station. About 40 percent of the blend comes from younger vines (2001). While the tree fruit flavors are supple, with spicy hints of lees, the structure is firm and tight, then mouthwatering and as clean as well water in the end.
