2001-2003 Torbreck "Run Rig" Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia Vertical
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001-2003 Torbreck "Run Rig" Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia Vertical, including 1-bottle of 2001 Torbreck "Run Rig" Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia (99RP, 98WS, 94JH, 93ST, 92W&S, 92WE), 1-bottle of 2002 Torbreck "Run Rig" Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia (99RP, 95JH, 94ST, 93WS), and 1-bottle of 2003 Torbreck "Run Rig" Shiraz Barossa Valley (99RP, 96JH, 94ST, 94WS). Of the 2001 Torbreck "Run Rig" Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The youngest Run Rig, the 2001, should equal the 1998 as it is almost a clone aromatically, texturally, and flavor-wise, just much younger. This opaque purple-colored beauty should flirt with perfection over the next 10-15 years. Torbreck’s flagship wine, the Run Rig, is made from 40- to 120-year-old Shiraz vines with some co-fermented Viognier (usually around 3%), tips the scales between 14-15% alcohol, and is aged 30 months in French oak. 2001 Spottswoode "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Spottswoode "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 94WE, 93ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is a beautiful wine, although more recent vintages may ultimately prove to be even better, particularly the 2007. This blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, from one of Napa’s prestigious sites on the valley floor tucked behind the town of St. Helena, has a dense blue/purple color and a beautifully sweet nose of spring flowers intermixed with raspberry jam, blueberries and black currants. Some licorice and subtle oak are followed by a quintessentially elegant yet substantial wine with sweet tannins, medium to full body and a seamless texture. Drinkable already, the wine will continue to offer the more elegant, complex, evolved style of Napa Cabernet Sauvignon produced in 2001 for at least another 15-20 years. (RP)" (06/2011)

2001 Chateau Montelena "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2001 Chateau Montelena "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (93ST, 91RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Saturated, deep ruby-red. Quintessential Cabernet aromas of blackcurrant, black cherry, dark chocolate, licorice, black olive, mint and earth, sweetened by some roasted oak tones. Dense, supple and seamless; much more concentrated than the basic Napa Valley bottling but also more pliant from the outset, even if it will need a good six to eight years of cellaring. Old-style, classic Napa Cabernet with a powerful, building finish." (06/2004)

2001 Ausone, St-Emilion
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Ausone, St-Emilion (98RP, 95WS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2001 Ausone has put on even more weight than I anticipated. The 'wine of the vintage,' this inky/purple-colored 2001 boasts a provocative, floral perfume of crushed stones, raspberries, blackberries, creme de cassis, licorice, and smoke. What makes it so sensational are the layers of flavor and nuances that unfold as the wine sits in the glass as well as on the palate. This is an extraordinarily intense effort, but remarkably elegant and well-balanced. It ideally needs another decade of cellaring; it should last for 4-5 decades! Alain Vauthier is a perfectionist, which is evidenced by what he has produced over the last half dozen vintages at Ausone. Kudos to readers lucky enough to find a bottle or two ... and live long enough to enjoy them in their prime. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2050+. (RP)" (06/2004)

Bid on this 6-half-bottle lot of 2001 d'Yquem, Sauternes (375ml) (100JS, 100RP, 100WS). Wine Spectator: "The greatest young Yquem I have ever tasted from bottle. Yellow, with a golden hue and an almost green tint. Intense aromas of botrytis, spices and blanched almonds follow through to honey, maple syrup, dried apricot and pineapple. Full-bodied, sweet, thick and powerful, with layers of fruit and a bright, lively finish. Coats the palate yet remains exciting. So balanced and refined, showing the pedigree that only this Sauternes estate can deliver. Best after 2012." (11/2005)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (98RP, 96WE, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Still a young wine at age 12, the 2001 Insignia exhibits a dense purple color along with a sweet bouquet of camphor, blackberries, cassis, incense and spring flowers. Full-bodied, rich and heady with sweet tannin, stunning concentration and a fabulous finish, this remarkable Insignia has 25 or more years of life ahead of it. (98+ points)" (11/2013)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2001 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (95WE, 93RP, 93W&S, 92ST, 92WS). Wine Enthusiast: " *Cellar Selection* The high proportion of Merlot in Pichon Lalande is a good reason why this wine, among the great wines of Pauillac, is always so seductive. This is no exception; it charms as well as excites with vibrant fruits as well as serious, dense tannins and acidity that promise good aging. Give it 7-9 years for full maturity to begin." Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2001 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Bordeaux Blend. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This “second wine” sports an elegant nose of violets, roses, and black fruits. Medium to full-bodied, it is broad, structured, suave, and velvety-textured. Pure and refined, it offers flavors reminiscent of blueberries, blackberries, and cassis. A hint of alcoholic warmth was detected in the finish. (PR)" (08/2004)

It is classic in the best sense, showing all the shape of a fine Bordeaux, while adding the extra dimension of the freshest of black fruits, complexity from a few hints of wood, and a dark, brooding, long-lasting aftertaste." 2001 Cardinale Napa-Sonoma Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2001 Cardinale Napa-Sonoma Bordeaux Blend (95RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the flagship wines of the late Jess Jackson’s Artisans and Estates limited production offerings is the 2001 Cardinale, a blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot from some of the finest Jackson-owned vineyards on Mt. Veeder, Keyes on Howell Mountain, Alexander Mountain Estate as well as purchased fruit from the Stagecoach, To-Kalon and Peter Michael vineyards. This sensational, layered, opulent, voluptuous 2001 (the last vintage in which any fruit from Sonoma was used in the final blend) boasts a dense purple color along with a big, rich perfume of kirsch, creme de cassis, subtle toasty oak and incense. Full-bodied, round and generously endowed with an endearing corpulence, this fleshy, full throttle, juicy Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated 2001 can be drunk now or cellared for another 15+ years." The wine reveals a saturated ruby/purple color as well as broad, expansive flavors of cassis, camphor, forest floor, truffles and earth. The oak component is completely integrated in this full-bodied, stunningly opulent, pure Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink this beauty over the next 15-20 years. (RP)" (06/2011)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001 Leonetti Cellar "Reserve" Walla Walla Valley Bordeaux Blend (96RP, 95WS, 94WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Notes of cedar are gaining on the fresh black cherry scents in the terrific aromatics of the 2001 Reserve. This medium to full-bodied wine is satin-textured, pure, concentrated, and intense. Expansive, it coats the taster’s palate with red cherries, spices, and superbly ripe tannin. 2001 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 93CG, 93W&S, 93WE, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Caymus has been around for so long there is a tendency to under-estimate their wines. However, they have a brilliant track record as evidenced by the decade old 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage Selection. Abundant chocolaty, black currant, licorice and coffee aromas soar from the glass of this perfumed wine. It exhibits an opaque ruby/purple color, wonderful opulence, a deep, full-bodied mouthfeel, fabulous depth and not a hard edge to be found. While seemingly fully mature, the supple tannins, expansive fruit and glycerin, depth and overall balance suggest it will keep for another 15+ years. (RP)" (06/2011)

2001 Domaine de la Vieille Julienne Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Domaine de la Vieille Julienne Châteauneuf-du-Pape (95RP, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A vintage that’s drinking at point today for most producers, Jean-Paul’s 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape is still young and concentrated, with a rich, structured, yet complex profile. Giving up classic licorice, garrigue, dried flowers and plums and cherry-driven fruit, it has full-bodied richness, big tannin and a ripe, concentrated and lengthy feel on the palate. During the tasting, Jean-Paul commented that this was the first vintage where he really felt like he understood his terroir. Open bottles anytime over the coming 7-8 years. " (08/2014)

A prodigious, multilayered, medium-bodied effort with exceptional concentration, a fabulous texture, and a 50-second finish, this brilliant achievement is one of the vintage’s monumental wines. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2020+. P.S. Yields were a mere 28 hectoliters per hectare, which no doubt explains the wine’s stunning concentration." (06/2004)
