2010 Lestruelle, Médoc (Previously $15) Top Pick!
2010 Lestruelle, Médoc (Previously $15)

Jancis Robinson: "Pleasant floral bouquet, mingled with red cherries, red currants, and sweet spices. Firm but ripe tannins giving illusion of sweetness. Beautifully balanced. Not short of finesse at all." (9/2012) Wine Enthusiast: "This is a mint- and licorice-flavored wine, with its wood aging prominent at this stage. Full bodied, rich and concentrated, it shows strong signs of extraction that give it a bitter finish. Age this tannic wine for 2-3 years or more." (3/2013) Wine Spectator: "Primal and direct, with blueberry and loganberry notes backed by a charcoal edge which lingers through the finish. Shows l ...Read More »

2011 Cos d'Estournel, St-Estèphe (Previously $160) Top Pick!
2011 Cos d'Estournel, St-Estèphe (Previously $160)

95 points James Suckling: "A dense, refined wine, with blueberries, blackberries and spices. Full body with integrated tannins and a polished texture. Love the mouthfeel to this. Extremely well done for the vintage, considering the hail in St Estephe. Try in 2018." (2/2014)94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Powerful, very rich and very concentrated, this epitomizes the opulent style of Cos d’Estournel. A sense of extraction is overwhelmed by the huge, ripe fruit. It shows velvet texture at first, but then the tannins come on strongly, leaving a wine that will age over many years. Drink from 2022." 2011 Puy-Blanquet, St-Emilion (Previously $20)

Jancis Robinson: "Deep crimson. Gentle, dusty, inviting. Light, dry with dusty tannins. Strongly mineral note and really rather delicate. Not a great deal of depth but elegant. Paper-fine tannins and finishes fresh. (JH)" (4/2012) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Chateau Puy Blanquet has a ripe cassis and blueberry scented nose that is very primal and quite precocious for the vintage. Given time to unfurl in the glass it offers up attractive Margaux-like floral notes. The palate is medium bodied with quite a supple entry, light in the mouth but well balanced with soft landing on the finish. This will b ...Read More »

2011 Domaine du Bouscat "La Gargone" Bordeaux Supérieur (Previously $22)

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Cuvee La Gargone (14% alcohol) exhibits an opaque ruby/purple color, abundant notes of sweet blueberries and black raspberries and significant density and richness. A major sleeper of the vintage, this blend of 60% Merlot, 20% Malbec, 18% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon should drink well for 3-5 years." (4/2014) James Suckling: "This shows lots of excellent fruit, with spices, chikies and chocolate. Full and dense. Fruity finish. Drink in 2016." (2/2014)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The palate is quite sweet with a note of fig and raisin. Firm, well-integrated tannins with a rich black, liquorice finish. Very good for a second wine....Tasted July 2004. (NM-Wine Journal)" Wine Spectator: "A pleasant red, with tobacco cedar and plum character. Medium body, fine tannins and fresh finish... Second wine of Nenin. Best after 2002." (3/2002) K&L Notes: Alex and I tasted this beauty and bought it on the spot. Tons of blackberry fruit flavors and a spicy palate impression. Enjoy with rack of lamb. (Clyde Beffa, K&L Bordeaux Buyer)

92-94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Firm and concentrated, this wine has great structure and density along with acidity and berry flavor. There is an attractive final spicy element." (4/2012) 88-91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby-red. Aromatic herbs, red fruits and a touch of game on the nose, nicely lifted by sweet spice and violet notes. Bright and fresh in the mouth, with the cassis and herb flavors nicely supported by lively acidity and smooth tannins. Finishes with a coffee note." (2/2014) Wine Spectator: "Bouncy blueberry and cherry fruit flavors are backed by toasted spice. Open knit and fresh." (4/2012) K&L Notes: One of our favorites from the value regions on the right bank. Cotes de Blaye region now referred to as Cotes de Bordeaux. 2006 Les Forts de Latour, Pauillac (Previously $250)

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The brilliant second wine, the 2006 Les Forts de Latour, a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot, possesses a dense ruby/purple color, a beautiful bouquet of asphalt, cassis, cedar, truffles, and earth, and a full-bodied, dense, beautiful style that is similar to a 1996 Pauillac. It will age effortlessly for 15 years. It’s bright, fruity and layered with acidity, and the firm tannins show through slowly, offering power and density for the medium-term." (2/2013)90 points Wine Spectator: "Dense and chewy, with espresso and baker's chocolate notes shrouding the dark currant, fig and blackberry fruit at the core, followed by graphite and anise on the finish for now. 2011 Hosanna, Pomerol (Previously $140)

With a savory, broad opulence as well as a medium to full-bodied appeal, this silky smooth, seductive, complex wine can be drunk now or cellared for a decade or more. 1989 Le Bon Pasteur, Pomerol (Previously $120)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine has reached full maturity very quickly. The wine shows some amber at the edge, with a sweet nose of roasted coffee intermixed with caramel, mocha, black cherry, and tobacco. The wine is medium-bodied, beautifully sweet and fleshy on the attack, but then narrows out ever so slightly in the mouth. There remains some tannin to be resolved. Anticipated maturity: Now-2014.Last tasted, 12/02." (1/2003) Wine Spectator: "Earthy and decadent. Dark ruby-garnet. Aromas of black olives, berries and meat. 1986 Haut-Bailly, Graves [heavily soiled labels] (Previously $130)

Built for the long run, but almost drinkable now." (6/1989) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Considering the strong, tannic personality of the vintage, Haut Bailly's 1986 is a soft wine that can be drunk at a very early age. The full-intensity bouquet of sweet, smoky oak and ripe, plummy fruit is very attractive. On the palate, this medium-bodied wine is long, rich in fruit, and supple, and finishes surprisingly smoothly." (1/1998)
