1995 & 2000 Dessert Wine
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1995 & 2000 Dessert Wine, including 1-bottle of 1995 Far Niente "Dolce" Napa Valley Dessert Wine (90WS) and 1-bottle of 2000 Klein Constantia Vin d'Constance 500ml (93W&S, 90WS). Of the 2000 Klein Constantia Vin d'Constance 500ml,Wine & Spirits writes: "A classic dessert style, reinvented by Klein Constantia in the 1980s, Vin de Constance is a golden, lusciously sweet wine that can withstand the kind of heat and oxidation that could challenge a lesser wine in a long sea journey from the Cape. This modern version is neither maderized nor oxidized. Instead, it's fresh and voluptuous, with complex aromas that meld beeswax, papaya, pear and bay laurel into smokier notes. There's a cool, saline-mineral tension that keeps it firm and brisk, even with all the sweetness. Though this will last for months after it's been opened, it will go quickly at dinner with seared foie gras and quince paste." (02/2007)

1973 Leoville-Las-Cases, St-Julien
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1973 Leoville-Las-Cases, St-Julien. The 1971 vintage of Leoville Las Cases was ranked 6th in the famous 1973 Judgement of Paris. No doubt the Château was disappointed to rank behind a Californian wines from Stag's Leap Wine Cellars and Ridge Winery's Monte Bello, but upon reflection wasn't a presence a such a storied moment in wine history an honor in itself?

1950 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1950 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac. The ultra rare 1950 Mouton is graced by the artwork of Georges Arnulf and is the first to feature the ram prominently on the label since the 1926 vintage release. Mouton-Rothschild, always in the forefront of the greatest wines of Bordeaux, was the first estate to begin complete chateau-bottling of the harvest -- a historic step initiated in 1924 by the late Philippe de Rothschild. It is the only chateau in the Classification of 1855 to achieve reclassification. In 1973, it was finally moved from a second growth to a first. This is an underated Bordeaux vintage, and the wine could be great.

1986 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac (375ml)
Bid on this half-bottle of 1986 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac (375ml) (100JS, 100RP, 99WS, 98ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep garnet-black colour. An incredible array of aromas on the nose: blackberry, black cherry, tobacco, espresso, leather, black olive and loam. The palate is absolutely seamless from first impression to finish, effortlessly building layers of complexity in the mouth and leading to a very long, earth and spice finish. I can’t see how this could possibly be improvement so have no alternative but concede perfection. Drink now to 2045+. Tasted March 2009. (LPB)" (05/2009)
