2009 La Gaffelière, St-Emilion
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2009 La Gaffelière, St-Emilion (95RP, 94WE, (89-92ST), 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An absolutely spectacular effort, the 2009 is one of the all-time great La Gaffelieres produced. One would have to go back to the 2005, 1947 or 1961 to find this level of quality from this ancient, historic vineyard planted adjacent to the walls of St.-Emilion, on the Cote Pavie. Dating back to the 1400s, this estate has been owned for over three centuries by the Malet-Roquefort family. Composed of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon (in the past it was two-thirds Merlot and the rest split between Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc), the 2009 reveals compelling elegance, tremendous intensity and opulence and more viscosity than one normally sees. Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2009 La Fleur de Gay, Pomerol (95JS, 95RP, 93ST, (91-93WE), 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As always, there is an elegance to the La Fleur de Gay, but the tell-tale flowery, raspberry jam, and blueberry pie notes jump from the glass along with hints of graphite and truffle. Deep, rich, full-bodied and textured, with sweet tannin and a stunning elegance and purity, this beauty that can be approached now or cellared for 20-25 years." (02/2012)

2009 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Proprietary Red
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Proprietary Red (96RP, 95WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Booker Vineyard is 70% Syrah and 30% Mourvedre from one of the rockiest, steepest hillsides in Paso Robles. Layers of dark fruit, spices, tar and licorice emerge from the glass in this deep, sensual wine. Booker usually sees the highest percentage of new oak, and elements of spiciness come through on the finish, although some of the oakiness blows off with time in the glass. Booker is another site Smith planted and continues to pull fruit from, in this case three blocks of Syrah and one of Mourvedre. In 2009 there were two lots; the first 100% Syrah vinified with 20-25% stems, the second a Syrah/Mourvedre co-ferment. Both lots were blended for the finished wine. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2021. Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2009 Le Clarence de Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan (95JS, 92RP, 92WS). James Suckling: "This is very, very Haut-Brion. Perhaps this second wine is like the gran vin in 1995? Full body, with rich ripe tannins, with a silky texture. It is dense and powerful. Long and rich. Better in 2016. Best second wine of Haut-Brion ever? It has just about everything Haut-Brion has in an excellent year like this. Try in 2019." (02/2012)

Full-bodied, with superfine tannins and a fresh, clean finish. Long and tight. Racy. Lovely texture. 60 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 25 percent Merlot and 15 percent Petit Verdot. This property is really on a roll now, delivering racy and structured reds; it gives much more freshness and character to the wine. (Web Only- 2010)"

2009 Les Pagodes de Cos, St-Estèphe
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Les Pagodes de Cos, St-Estèphe (94RP, 93JS, 93WE, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The brilliant 2009 Les Pagodes de Cos actually has more Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend than the grand vin (69% versus 65%) in addition to mostly Merlot and a small quantity of Petit Verdot. As powerful as the Cos in terms of alcoholic clout (14.5%), the full-bodied, round, generous Les Pagodes de Cos exhibits lots of creme de cassis and floral notes intermixed with hints of wood/barrique and spice. Juicy, succulent and remarkably fresh and well-delineated, it merits considerable attention from consumers. It should drink well for 15-20 years. Oddly enough, the second wine is superior to many vintages of Cos in the 1960s 1970s and 1980s! (RP)" (02/2012)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Latour à Pomerol, Pomerol (93JS, 93WE, 93WS, 92RP, 91ST). Wine Spectator: "A nice, old-school style, with roasted mesquite, tobacco leaf and espresso flavors up front, following through to bittersweet ganache and mulled dark currant notes on the still-slightly taut, but well-framed, finish. Should flesh out a bit more with cellaring. Best from 2014 through 2030." (03/2012)

2009 Robert Mondavi "Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Robert Mondavi "Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (94RP, 94ST, 92WS, 90WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Mondavi's 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is sumptuous and beautiful. Plums, mocha, cloves and pencil shavings are all woven together in this gorgeous, large-scaled Cabernet Sauvignon. All the elements are in the right place. Silky, nuanced tannins frame the voluptuous, caressing finish. A wine of centeredness and gorgeous precision, the 2009 is a true standout. The tannins need a few years to soften, but once that starts to happen, the 2009 should enjoy a long life. The blend is 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. 2009 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (97WE, 93WS, 91CG). Wine Enthusiast: "So delicious now, you can hardly keep your hands off it. Blackberry tart, ripe blueberry, cassis, milk chocolate, licorice and sweet, smoky cedar flavors flood the mouth, dramatically huge and memorable, and lasting long into the finish. The tannins are obvious, but sweetly ripe and soft. A brilliant evocation of Napa Cabernet, despite a high production level of nearly 30,000 cases, which is about the same size as a Bordeaux first growth. Shows the class and potency this bottling has exhibited for many years, and believe it or not, the price is a is a relative bargain these days. Drink now -2020." (03/2012)

2009 Fleur Cardinale, St-Emilion
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2009 Fleur Cardinale, St-Emilion (94RP, 93JS, 93WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A good value among over-achieving St.-Emilion estates is La Fleur Cardinale’s 2009. Composed of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, some of the abrasive tannins noticeable early on in this big wine (14.5% alcohol) are now sweeter and better integrated. Made from tiny yields of 30 hectoliters per hectare, this is a concentrated, rich effort revealing lots of black cherry and black currant fruit as well as a fragrant, firm, full-bodied personality. It should be at its best between 2016 and 2030. (RP)" (02/2012)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 La Tour Figeac, St-Emilion (93JS, 93RP, 93WE, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The finest wine yet made by this estate run by Stephane Derenoncourt's wife, Christine, this blend of 78% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Franc tips the scales at 14+% alcohol. It exhibits copious aromas of blueberries, raspberries, asphalt, truffles, charcoal and a hint of graphite. Full-bodied and powerful with low acidity, excellent freshness and precision, and deep, glycerin-imbued, high octane flavors, the vintage’s tell-tale voluptuousness and opulence are nicely wedded to a sense of freshness and delineation. Drink this beautiful St.-Emilion over the next two decades. (RP)" (02/2012)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2009 Le Plus de La Fleur de Bouard, Lalande de Pomerol (96RP, 94JS, (92-93ST), 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " Take that quality and add additional layers of concentration, power, extract and wood, and you have the 2009 La Plus de La Fleur de Bouard. Only about 500 cases of this 100% Merlot are made. With notes of blueberry and blackberry liqueur intermixed with graphite and spring flowers, this wine is absolutely massive and not for everybody, but it is an example of what a conscientious and driven producer pushing the envelope can do in a satellite appellation such as Lalande de Pomerol. Moreover, I suspect it will last for at least two decades. (RP)" (02/2012)

Wine Enthusiast: "Though 2009 was a difficult vintage for Washington Merlot, this is a truly luscious wine. It welcomes the taster instantly with massive, generous fruit cloaked in toasty, chewy, mocha and caramel flavors. Tasted over the course of 48 hours, it held up well, developing broad, well-integrated flavors of berries to complement the hedonistic oak. Sure to be a favorite among all the current releases from Leonetti." (09/2011)

This is a refined, juicy Merlot to drink over the next few years...I have been following Plumpjack since first visiting the winery nearly a decade ago. This is a stunning set of wines from winemaker Tony Biagi, who has succeeded in achieving both astonishing richness and finesse pretty much across the board. (AG)" (12/2011)

This is almost always a classy effort but in 2009 it is also beautifully stylish..." 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Volnay Clos des Ducs is a wonderful foil to the Champans. Here the wine is quite a bit more introspective, with a flavor profile that moves towards the darker end of the spectrum. Hints of menthol, spices and licorice add complexity on the long, intensely building finish. The Clos des Ducs is a marvelously complete wine, but it will require patience. Tasted from tank. Bid on this magnum of 2009 Vérité "La Muse" Sonoma County Bordeaux Blend (1.5L) (OWC - 96AG, 96RP, 95ST, 91WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 La Muse (86% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec; 14.5% alcohol) is a blockbuster offering complex, intense notes of Asian plum sauce, figs, black currants, white chocolate and cedar. The wine reveals an extra level of texture and richness along with full body, an unctuous texture, and a super ripeness and richness that does not go over the top. The tannins are noticeable, but well-integrated as are the new oak and acidity. This big, backstrapping, Merlot-based wine is meant for long-term cellaring. Dark red berries, savory herbs, mint and licorice all jump from the glass. A large-scaled, voluptuous wine, the 2009 is juicy, expressive and wonderfully resonant. Vibrant nose offers cassis, blackberry, licorice, minerals, tobacco leaf and violet. Rich, tactile and deep, offering outstanding energy for the vintage. Boasts a rare combination of explosive fruit intensity and elegance. Builds and echoes dramatically on the vibrant, nuanced finish, which saturates the palate with dark fruits and minerals. Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Louis Jadot Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru (90-93BH, 90-92AG). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is one of the few wines to display noticeable reduction and it's enough to knock down the nose though my score assumes that this will be corrected before it is bottled. There is good richness and vibrancy to the solidly well-concentrated flavors that possess plenty of tannin-buffering dry extract though the palate impression of the finish is still quite firm, all wrapped in a backend that delivers excellent persistence. This is a bit more rough and tumble than one typically sees from a classic Griotte though it does not display any overt rusticity."

Intense, floral-accented scents of orange zest, pit fruit and candied ginger. 2009 Le Dôme, St-Emilion
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Le Dôme, St-Emilion (99RP, 95JS, 95ST, 95WE, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the most distinctive wines made in Bordeaux, Le Dome has one of the highest percentages of Cabernet Franc of any claret I can think of. Composed of 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot, it exhibits a certain delicacy and elegance (due to the Cabernet Franc component) in addition to resounding power, concentration, depth and multidimensional personality. Black/purple to the rim, it offers strikingly intense notes of spring flowers, raspberries, mulberries and wood smoke, medium to full body, sweet tannin and a cunning intensity and texture that suggest finesse and delicacy. However, the wine’s richness, length and lingering depth build incrementally in this exceptional St.-Emilion. It will be drinkable in 4-5 years and should age for two decades or more. This is Jonathan Malthus’ finest wine to date. (RP)" (02/2012)

Viscous and full-bodied, it is the most concentrated and broadest example of this cuvee I have tasted in over three decades. It will be ready to drink in 5-7 years and should last for three decades or more. Consumers looking to maximize value should be checking out Duhart Milon, as this may be the single smartest purchase in this great and historic vintage!" (02/2012)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder is a big, broad-shouldered wine loaded with class and personality. Firm tannins provide the backdrop for layers of dark red fruit in this super-expressive, racy Cabernet Sauvignon. Tar, licorice, menthol, iron and smoke nuances develop in the glass, adding a sense of gravitas. This is a striking, totally beautiful wine from Robert Craig.
