95 points Decanter: "Very immediate on the nose, with ripe summer fruit and hints of powder puff and pot pourri. Very young and intense but still a little unsettled on the palate, with some traditional oak aromas still to be assimilated, intriguing complexity and great potential."92 points Antonio Galloni: "Readers should do whatever they can to get their hands on Monsanto's 2010 Chianti Classico Riserva, a wine that captures the full pedigree of this great Tuscan vintage, and at a reasonable price. Brisk, saline notes form the backbone, as this expressive, nuanced Riserva shows off its focus, delineati ...Read More »
93 points James Suckling: "A fruity, delicious red with sliced-plum and lemon-rind character. Full body with light tannins and a flavorful finish. I like the traditional, honest character here. Drink now." (10/2014)92 points Wine Spectator: "Aromas and flavors of eucalyptus, wild sage and pine mingle with cherry, tobacco and earth notes in this complex, structured red. Balanced, long and built for the long haul. Drink now through 2024. 26,000 cases made." (10/2014)91 points Antonio Galloni: "Monsanto's 2011 Chianti Classico Riserva fleshes out beautifully in the glass. The flavors are bright, lifted and beautifully focused throughout. S ...Read More »
93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Chianti Classico Riserva is host to a beautiful mix of black mineral, fruit, dried mint and eucalyptus. The wine shows elegant evolution in the glass and backs it up with dry, polished tannins. This is a stunning effort available at a reasonable price. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2028. This is one of the nicest collections of new releases by Giuseppe Mazzocolin’s Felsina. At the edge of the Chianti Classico and Chianti Colli Senesi denominations, the estate counts 475 hectares, of which 61 are planted with vineyard. 91 points James Suckling: "A tangy and lively red with plums, berries and chocolate. Full body and lovely fruit. Very well-made and delicious now." (11/2013) K&L Notes: A delightful blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot, this delicious, approachable red is aged 14 months in two and three year-old barrels. Pride and care is taken to reduce yields in order to produce an excellently concentrated wine.
90 points Antonio Galloni: "Rich and explosive in the glass, the 2012 Chianti Classico is a beauty. Dark red stone fruits flesh out in a round, sensual wine built on pure texture. This fleshy, supple Chianti Classico offers tons of near and medium-term appeal. All the elements are in the right place. (AG)" (9/2014)90 points James Suckling: "Aromas of blueberry and chocolate character follow through to a full body with fine tannins and a tangy finish. Fresh and balanced with a delicious fruit/acid balance. Drink now." (10/2014)90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good medium red. Smoky, musky aromas of red berries, flint, tea leaf and game. Sweet, ...Read More »
95 points Antonio Galloni: "The 2010 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia is cool, inward and reserved at this stage. Much less expressive than it was from barrel, today the 2010 appears to be in a closed phase. There is so much tension in the glass, though, and I can hardly wait to see where the 2010 goes over the coming years. A burst of mineral and floral infused fruit lingers on the polished, nuanced finish. Today, the 2010 seems to bring together the finesse of 2004 with the structure and power of the 2010. A pretty magical combination, if you ask me." (8/2013)95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Chianti Class ...Read More »
93 points James Suckling: "A new wine from the estate of Nipozzano with pretty blueberry and light vanilla character. Full-bodied, chewy and rich with a long, lightly austere finish. Wonderful depth of fruit. From the oldest vines on the property and aged 24 months in barrel. Needs a year or two more of bottle age to soften: Drink in 2016." (10/2014)93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Dark red. Refined aromas of dark red cherry, blackcurrant, lavender, sage, rosemary and tobacco on the multidimensional nose. Textured, pure and classy, with very long, mineral-driven dark red berry and cherry flavors framed by noble, s ...Read More »
96 points James Suckling: "This is so dense and beautiful and has such amazing depth of fruit and power. Full body with massive intensity and length. Chewy but polished and balanced. This is just a baby still: Try in 2018." (10/2014)90 points Wine Spectator: "Enticing aromas of violet and black currant are complemented by cherry, leather and spice flavors. The tannins are a bit gruff, but there is ample sweet fruit. Needs food. Drink now through 2020. (Web Only—2015)"
94 points James Suckling: "Beautiful texture to this wine with soft, velvety tannins that caress every inch of your palate. Full body and a long, long finish. Wonderful. Drink now." (9/2014)94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Made from Sangiovese grown in high-altitude vineyards, this earthy wine features aromas of perfumed berry, leather, cake spice, blue flower and herb. The palate delivers juicy sour cherry, wild strawberry, white pepper, game, mint and orange peel alongside firm, fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity. A licorice note closes the lingering finish. It’s still youthfully austere and needs time. Drin ...Read More »
Wine Enthusiast: "Made with organic grapes, this fruity blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Canaiolo/Colorino begins with aromas of ripe red berries, spice and espresso. The dense palate delivers fleshy black cherry, black pepper and balsamic herbs supported by youthfully aggressive, chewy tannins. Drink 2015-2020." (4/2014)
90 points Wine Spectator: "*Smart Buys* Bursting with black cherry and earth aromas and flavors, this is an intense red, with the fruit balanced by lively acidity and moderately firm tannins. Iron and spice notes linger. Drink now through 2020." (10/2012) K&L Notes: A violet-inflected, cherry and tobacco infused Chianti that's balanced and fresh on the palate, with firm tannins and structure that's drinkable now and will improve over the course of the next decade.

92 points James Suckling: "This is a wine with dried meats, berries and earth. Full body, velvety tannins and a beautiful fruit intensity. Energetic red. Always an excellent Chianti Classico. Made from organically grown grapes. Drink now." (9/2013) Wine Enthusiast: "This has aromas of ripe berry and toast. The palate isn’t very expressive but reveals new wood, vanilla and chocolate. Give this a few more years to fully develop. Drink 2015–2020." (10/2013) Wine Spectator: "Dense yet medium-weight, with tobacco, briar and leather flavors. More savory than fruity, offering a dry finish. Best from 2015 through 2021. (Web-20 ...Read More »
90 points Antonio Galloni: "The 2012 Chianti Classico is wonderfully pliant, open and generous. Dark red fruit, smoke, tobacco and wild flowers are all very much alive in this beautifully expressive, vibrant, mid-weight Chianti Classico. The tannins are a bit firm today, but even so, its obvious the 2012 is a first-class effort. The purity of the fruit alone is simply striking. Bright, red and articulate, the 2012 is a real standout in this tricky vintage. Readers who want to go straight to the top in 2012 should start here. This is a drop-dead gorgeous Chianti." 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Chianti Classico Riserva Nozzole is a big, dark wine bursting with dark cherries, licorice, tobacco, smoke and dried flowers. This hearty, full-bodied Riserva is long on personality and sheer character. There isn’t a ton of subtlety, but readers looking for a hearty, robust Chianti will find much to like. As good as this is today, the wine could use another few years to shed some of its baby fat. This is a terrific showing from Nozzole. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024." (6/2012) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Herbal notes accent the cherry and plum fruit in this rich red. A den ...Read More »

93 points Decanter: "Bright ruby and transparent, yet you find yourself searching the glass for a skeleton, skate-wing bones of neatly structured and delicate tannins fanning out through the fruit. Fine, focused and extremely drinkable. Drink 2015-2022" (6/2015)92 points James Suckling: "A beautiful red with delicate but rich flavors, bright acidity and an orange-peel undertone. Medium body with fine tannins and a fresh, clean, savory, salty finish. Very Burgundian. Pure Sangiovese. Drink now or hold." (10/2014) Wine Enthusiast: "Here’s a vibrant wine that opens with pretty aromas of blue flower, rose and berry. The savor ...Read More »
93 points Antonio Galloni: "The 2011 Chianti Classico Riserva Le Baroncole is a great example of the year. Dark red and black fruit, smoke, tobacco and licorice wrap around the palate in a racy, voluptuous Chianti loaded with pure class and pedigree. Hints of game, tobacco and cedar add nuance on the finish. (AG)" (9/2014)92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good bright medium red. Pungent, wild aromas of redcurrant, sweet spices, underbrush and flint. Silky and fine-grained, with heady minerality and floral character energizing the redcurrant and dark red cherry flavors. On a high plateau in the heart of Chianti Classico, the team at Villa Trasqua lives by the "wine is made in the vineyard" ethos. They harvest grapes at their peak, and practice minimal interferance so the aromas of the terroir can shine through. Their "Fanatico" is a Chianti Classico Riserva, with ripe black cherry flavors underlined by baking spice and chocolate. It's well structured, and will age well.
96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Le Pergole Torte is flat-out great. Layers of fruit wrap around the palate in this flashy, seductive Pergole Torte. There are no hard edges to be found. Sweet red cherries, roses, spices and mint are layered into the silky, radiant finish. The 2009 is a wine of extraordinary elegance. Today the 2009 comes across as a smaller scaled version of the 2007. This is also the first year of biological farming at Montevertine. Despite the heat wave in August, Martino Manetti waited until October 12 to bring the Sangiovese in. (AG)" (6/2012)93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep red. 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The dark ruby/purple-hued 1997 Chianti Classico Riserva Il Poggio offers a stunning aromatic display of jammy black fruits, balsam wood, dried herbs, licorice, and a Provencal/garrigue smell. Some peppery notes even came through. Full-bodied, concentrated, and fat, with high glycerin levels, a chewy, plush, succulent personality, sweet tannin, gobs of fruit, and a long, heady finish, this 1997 is already disarmingly delicious, but should age nicely for 12-15 years. 97 points Antonio Galloni: "A vivid, beautiful wine, the 2011 Pergole Torte is superb. Warm, early-maturing harvests often attenuate the differences between sites, but not here. The old vines weathered the heat better, resulting in a wine that is very much in line with the past, but with more body, amplitude and resonance. Rose petals, bright red stone fruits and mint are some of the many notes that grace the super-expressive finish. The 2011 spent one year in French oak barrels and a second year in cask.
